Great post mitzy1234. John Denver has always been my favorite singer/songwriter. I learned how to play guitar at 4 through him and I understood how to write songs like he did....with feeling. Now at 25, I'm a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter of 13 years, and this song is still number one in my book.This song launched his career and inspired me to write a song which I hope will be my "Leaving On A Jetplane". When I was a kid I thought it was about leaving for college or a job, since that's what a small-town kid had to do to become a professional.
