@Nyareustar2009 I know it looks that way in the video but they arent, thanks for the comment though...yes they are thin but that was a year ago, its all good now
Well washing it isn't any hassle for me. I find it quite easy when using my metal afro pic. However, if i can't find that,......damn,.....i don't wash it all.
i braid it in medium braids, wash the SCALP with non sulfate shampoo and co-wash the HAIR with tea tree conditioner. i co-wash and detangle at the same time. i started washing and detangling my hair OUT of the shower, because it takes so long and wastes so much water. It still takes a long time but my feet don't hurt anymore. i wash in the kitchen sink with a spray nozzle that i bought on amazon. its not great, but it does the job & you don't have to keep rinsing in the shower.
I water detangle. You can check out my channel. I only have that vid so far but I can detangle my hair which is as about 7.5 - 8.5 inches long right now, in a few minutes. Sometimes as quick as 2 minutes. 5 tops if its really tangled. I don't use any special detangler really. Like richeau said in her Quidad double comb review vid old product becomes slippery when you wet your hair. This is how I get slip and detangle so fast. U can always section then wash like Kimmaytube after that. HTH
I have 2 videos that might address your issue. Thick Hair Chronicles: Tangles and Braidouts and Detangling 4b/4c Hair. We just condition with a conditioner with excellent slip, BEFORE wetting the hair. We leave the conditioner in for 30-overnight sometimes. My baby has hair down to her waist. If we don't do this it can take 2-3 hours to detangle her hair. Not the answer for a busy 5 year old. Be Blessed!
I wet my hair at night and put an oil in and put a bag on it. In the morning it's VERY easy to detangle (I think you say clear) because of the oil and water. You can detangle and do your four braids then wash your hair, condition, and style. Because of the oil, water, and letting it sit overnight, you're detangling process is cut ALOT! Hope this helps!
Best way to wash it and keep it from not tangle... is wet it down every day, and co wash ever other day. but what will help is twisting it up in big twist at night so the hair does not re tangle on its self at night, will also make it easy when you wet it down
I will loosely section it in two pigtails with wide jaw clips. I wash one side, rinse the shampoo out well, add conditioner and section into smaller sections (large bantu knots secured by pins). Repeat for other side. No tangles because I add conditioner right after wash. When I'm done, my hair is in smaller sections and covered in conditioner. I take each knot down, detangle and re-secure. I rinse all my hair at the end, keeping sections in. Glamazini + KinkyKurlyQueen = similar method.
THx for opening this topic. I have the same issue, although my hair is shorter, it is thick & tangles easily. thanks to all the sistas who shared their ideas & tutorial references. Happy New Year everyone!
First: I part my hair into four sections, pin them up, detangle a section at a time using a leave-in spray and adding conditioner for some slip. Then braid each section right after detangling them. Second: I get into shower and focus on wetting the section I am about to wash or cowash, then move section to section. Third: Unbraid a section spray a leave in seal, braid back up let air dry. Fourth: Take sections down to style OR Braid smaller single braids and wear as a PS.
My hair isn't that long yet, but kimmaytube has a good vid about shampooing long, natural hair. I think you can benefit from it alot. Pretty much she detangles first, plait it, then shampoo/condish while it's still plaited. U should give it a try.
Thanks for posting this b/c I was going to suggest Kimmaytube b/c her tutoral is excellent. Also, check out NyAshia87 channel. She has long hari and she talks about how she cares for it.
I wash in 4 sections in twists. Shampoo by each section..rinse..then condition and detangle and twist again. Rinse. Then deep conditioner, no need to detangle again because you did it already. Since, your hair is dry..cowash instead of poo.
i love your natural hair
