LOL, are you serious? Scrolling with Safari shows nothing but a huge void. No wonder it seems smoother when it leaves out most of the page while scrolling!

Re scrolling being more responsive on the iPhone - notice how much checkerboard it displays compared to Opera - that's "cheating".

I noticed another thing, your iPhone is on WiFi, while the phone running Opera is on 3G. You should have mentioned that to people.
And at 1:30, "Compressing text":
This is a feature. Opera will wrap the text to fit inside the viewport, and of course it will fit more text into the viewport when you zoom out.
The scrolling on my Treo 800w is much smoother than what you got on your device. Odd, I thought the Tilt 2 was supposed to be much more powerful.
