@comediancj1999 if you have never flown a plane its going to be hard; but if you have flown some its going to be somewhat easy; but the hardest part is learning how to start it up and actually use all of its systems. you have to go through at least two years of naval flight training in order to fly this incredible bird.
@Bedjoke The F/A-18 is computer controlled, when the pilot moves the joystick, the computer moves the flaps, wings tails, ect.. to give the pilot the best control over the jet, so yes I would think the flaps would go out when you make sharp turns.
It must be so awesome to have the clouds as the roads, pathways, and avenues where you turn your corners and travel to your next destination. Kinda traveling on like cars but on surface streets.
great video and great song to go with it! I love the jets and the carriers and all that but it is sad that what they really are, are human killing machines
Ok he isn't a blue angle because i am a fighter pilot and that is the same uniform my group wears on every test run for the month... mister know it all dumb ass....p.s. i am not a blue angel just a fighter pilot.
nrotc is a great thing and ive wanted to fly since i was i think 6 ior 7 and man its worth all of that hard work and effort and u get soooo many chicks man its amazing
@EatMyPropwash Actually, F-16's AND F-15's which are both Air Force DO land on aircraft carriers. Just look them up and explain the arresting hooks that both of those planes have.
@jiggaluv123 yes they do; the F in these planes stands for "fighter". they are just mainly interceptors and aggressor squads. its what kind of load they need for a mission.
If you do not mind me asking, how were you commissioned? Also, did you know from the beginning that you were going to flight school after becoming an officer?
well first how old are you and if you are in high school thats perfect , i went from high school to the academy (air force academy in colorado springs colorado, and then from there i applied for the air force and when they accept you you have to take a test that everyone takes and if you score high enough you can decide on what you want to do and my score was a 99 and the grading srgnt. asked if i wanted to be a fighter pilot and it was my dream ever since i was 10 so i took it.now i am lovin it
I just finished my sophomore year at college, so I will not be able to go to the academy. I guess my only shot is OTS. The score that you mentioned, is that the AFOQT. According to Ed Rush, I think one needs a combined score of 50 on pilot and navigator to even be qualified for pilot. What sources do you recommend to study from for the AFOQT? Also, do you have any advice on getting pilot through OTS? If not that's okay. Thank you for replying.
Yeah, he is the real deal. The one thing I liked in his book was the importance of recommendation letters that the board of colonels read to determine who goes to flight school. If the letters are nothing special then they will probably see the applicant as nothing special too.
Good luck on getting picked up through OTS. Any of the military prestigious schools get first picks, then ROTC students, then OTS gets whatever is left over... so if all the fighter slots are full, and theirs a cargo slot, your going cargo. If you want to transfer, good luck...
wait, this is the navy right? or the USAF? i dont really know what the difference is!? someone PLEASE tell me the difference... isnt the air force invloved with the carriers too? omg.. i need to knw. asap thnx! (;
This is the navy. The navy has nothing to do with the USAF. The navy fly aircraft, but these aren't USAF aircraft. The people who fly in the navy are called "naval aviators".

@Bedjoke
Yes. The flight control computers schedule all the the control surfaces based on AOA, airspeed, and control inputs.

Asuraith 1 year ago
@Bedjoke You mean the ailerons? The moving surface at the outside, trailing edge of the wing?
The pilot controls those, as well as the elevators on the tail, with the stick. The ailerons are what actually make the airplane turn...
