With a four stroke you you are only getting 2500 power strokes per minute (one every other stroke) but with a 2 stroke you are getting 5000 power strokes per minute (one every stroke). If u want your 250 4t to be as powerful as your 250 2t, then put a turbo charger on the 4t and it will have same or greater power per cc than the 2t, but as i said, that is not the point. @lollers21435 AMA made the rule change a couple years ago.... 250 2 strokes are allowed in the lites class... 250 vs. 250 and everybody is still on the 4 stroke... the 4 stroke made riding faster easier... lap times on both bikes are about the same. I have a crf250 and a cr250... they really arent that different from one another and I am actually running faster lap times on my 4 stroke. THe 2 stroke is a better ride in the woods.

iv been rideing many many years i find honda to be the best FOR ME but every ones different. Thers no best bike in the world its the rider that is the deciding factor.

I completely and fully agree with TheLyingBitch. you can't just say "oh yeah honda sucks" or yamaha's suck". neither of them do, they both handle jumps well, the yamaha a little better than the honda but as far as keeping the same, fast, consistent speed. both are amazin bikes, I have had both of them in my time riding dirtbikes, although I'm 15 i can still say that i like them both the same. As of right now I ride and race a Honda cr125 and I love it. Don't get me wrong i like the yz 250 too

ive been riding for 6 years and i am currently riding a 100xr honda, but i am riding my dads 465it yamaha, and i am wonder what would be a better bike , a crf 250(4-stroke) or a yz250(2-stroke)?
the yz 250 is going to have a hell of alot more power then your xr and it will have quit a bit more than the crf 250 just because there is two cylinders instead of four the yz 250 will be in a class with 450 4 strokes the crf will be in a class with the 125 two strokes so if you are a good racer/rider i would get the yz but if you are new to actualy raceing get a crf

GO WITH THE CRF250, especially since you don't have to worry about mixing gas... if you ride trails though you should probably go with a CRF250X cause its set up for trail riding...

2 strokes may be faster but not more reliable. you never have to rebuild 4 strokes every year. 4 strokes dont work as hard

I completely and fully agree with TheLyingBitch. you can't just say "oh yeah honda sucks" or yamaha's suck". neither of them do, they both handle jumps well, the yamaha a little better than the honda but as far as keeping the same, fast, consistent speed. both are amazin bikes, I have had both of them in my time riding dirtbikes, although I'm 15 i can still say that i like them both the same. As of right now I ride and race a Honda cr125 and I love it. Don't get me wrong i like the yz 250 too

I prefer yz, all the way, like the sAying goes, your eaither on a yz or behind it. Haha, they have better top end power most the races you watch it's a yamaha out of the gate first, but the down side to them is that a Honda seems to keep speed a little better, you know what I'm saying?

i agree to an extent..
for example i have two very similair bikes, both low hours, both 125 cc, ones a kawasaki ones a yamaha.
the yamaha is quite a bit more responsive at low end, but it has a smaller sprocket too.
the yamaha is a little taller, and takes jumps better too.
the kawasaki is a newer model, has a different style frame, and a pro circuit pipe and silencer yet the yamaha seems to be the better bike

cr's have the best acceleration in the dirtbike class but then the yamaha or suzuki in my opinoin has the best top speed. idk about you guys. But, yamaha definetly has without a doubt the best 4 strokes in the class.

the yz 250 is going to have a hell of alot more power then your xr and it will have quit a bit more than the crf 250 just because there is two cylinders instead of four the yz 250 will be in a class with 450 4 strokes the crf will be in a class with the 125 two strokes so if you are a good racer/rider i would get the yz but if you are new to actualy raceing get a crf

They are pretty much all good bikes, some years have their faults, from all manufacturers, KTM is just too much money for most people.
Though you do see a lot riding around at ORV areas. But still like $9,000 for a 250? Come on...
