It would have been great to have this man with us kickin' back and just play,,,all he would have to do. We miss this man and not too many folks even know of him yet. He is the best if ya think not just listen to any songs you find him. He can play the Blues,,,,,,
Ive seen these posers with stratocasters and they had there initials on there pickguard just like his. People need to be individuals and stop ripping off other peoples shit. R.I.P S.R.V
The greatest thing Mr.Stevie Ray Vaughan ever said or played was Take care of yourselves so you can be there when your brothers or sisters need you........Amen
SRV makes love to his guitar paying intense homage to his music. his music stirs intense feelings in the listener. i like to believe he would appreciate these small words of praise
Its really sad to realize that he was really reaching toward his true potential right at the time he died...too bad....he was really having clarity and coming together with all his skills in force....wow, the '89 and '90 concerts i saw were amazing (esp '89...he looked a bit burned toward the tail of that '90 tour, god bless him)
As I sit here listening to this, there are tears streaming down my cheeks. I still feel that tragic sense of loss from SRV's passing, and this song captures the emotions so beautifully. Yet, I also know these are tears of love and appreciation. I feel honored to have been alive to experience his artistry first hand. God bless you and RIP SRV.
Sad to think of the legions of kids who will never hear or understand this sound. I honestly believe those of us who heard him are better off for it, and I think that was exactly what he wanted. It's not just about the music or how well he played. It's about what he gave away every time he played.
I Truely send thanks t the people who follow me on the comment ive made. Stevie has shaped my life and Me as a person. i truely give me heart to the people who believe in my Belief that Stevie Is the one and only Human Being!!!THANK YOU EVERYONE!! now listen to what Stevie has to tell you in a Masterpiece known as Riviera Paraise..
I was at this show! I'm pretty sure it was the Tri-State Fair in Amarillo. If it was, I was there and a freshman in high school. My brother worked security and got me and my Dad into the show. They were short on security so I got to put on a shirt and work the front of the stage! It was awesome!

I had the pleasure of seeing SRV about a year or so before he passed, something I'll never forget...simply mindblowing! Funny though, he opened for Robert Plant. Now who in their right mind would want to follow SRV?? Plant's promoter didn't think that through too well!! RIP Stevie
I just bought a 1990 camaro and my favorite part about it is that it has a cassette player. Nothin better then driving around listening to SRV. I wish I could have seen him live. I was born into a shitty music generation were everyone has to rely on computers to help them play. RIP Stevie
I think this is 1 of the finest songs SRV has done, and a favourite of mine as of all his music, god bless u SRV!!!!! Oh, n yess, seeing him perform this song live, I'll never forget!!
Absolutely a masterpiece. With elements of blues, jazz (in both the traditional and modern styles), rock, and classical this song hits every note, so to speak. Absolutely great.
SRV expressed himself thru his music and he was absolutely beautiful inside & out! R.I.P. SRV you are missed but your music lives forever! 20 years gone... way to soon
@iwillfartinyourmouth...and why is that?? if you notice, your the Only fan in your club. everyone here Loves Stevie and his Music. that really was not cool. just thought you should know
Another song that Frankie Crocker used to play on NYC's WBLS FM back in 1989 - 90 when I had never heard of SRV...a huge loss when his plane crashed an we lost him. Great tune!
For me, this song expresses what was in Stevie's soul - love, passion, tenderness. A beautiful song written and played by a beautiful person. Love you so much Stevie.
Chitlins con Carne by SRV is a very good instrumental, but I have to say Riviera Paradise is decidedly DISsimilar to any song by SRV I've ever had the pleasure of hearing. Masterpiece!!
Lets just please all remember that even tho Stevie was The Best, he never wanted to be thought of as a *God*.., he didnt like that. To him, the music was simply his way of speaking, and he spoke Beautifully. Can i hear an Amen...
Amen! I read where he said he didn't think of himself as a guitar hero, he just enjoyed playing. The more you listen to his music, the more you are saddened by his untimely death. Like B.B. King said "the only thing that keeps me from crying is remembering how great he was."
I'm getting ready to get married and drive through Big D on my honeymoon. Think I will stop by and place a rose on his grave.
@Vaughanaddict amen from me on that one vaughanaddict!! not only would stevie and all the greats laugh it down , its a tad OTT to say the least , but we rest in the knowledge its just people expressing their deep and everlasting love for people that changed their lives and in some cases made life worth living. @Vaughanaddict To say that he was the best is, of course, pure opinion. Claptom still leaves SRV behind. Reality being what it is, it is great that you think he is the best, but there isn't really a body of work that surpasses Eric Clapton.
I agree with turbokevin. I often felt the same about Hendrix. How would he be playing nowadays? But with them dying when they did they never had the chance to stagnate. They both showed the world that they are the greatest guitar players ever, only sad thing is that they both died tragically at young age and that they had so much more to show and give to the world, they were both brilliant and unique!

A true legend and genius! Heavy sucker strings and an action nice and high like a cheese grater! That's how it's done you pansies of the modern guitar era!!
