great vid i wanna stress the fact that there are 26 completely different breeds labled as "pitbull" because over half the population can't tell the difference between an american pitbull terrier and these other breeds. back in the day before bad media and identiity problems american pitbull terriers were known to be better family dogs then labs and goldens they still are in my book they were trusted baby sitters i had a number of american pits growing none never even growled at me!

I absolutely love this video I am a proud owner of a Pit Bull and she is my favorite girl in the world I wouldn't trade her for anything she is awesome w/ people of all ages from newborns to the elderly (i take her to the nursing home to visit my great uncle and the rest of the patients there) and animals of all kinds (I have 13 animals of all sorts that she lives and interacts with)

Pit bulls were actually called nanny dogs because they're so sweet with children. A friend of mine had a pit. People who, who were throwing rocks at the dog, were attacked by it and sued for it. Some how they won and the dog was put to sleep. Gogo (the dog) was the sweetest dog in the world and only acted in defense.

I believe that some breeds of dogs are more aggressive than others, but I do agree that the media picks on Pit Bulls a lot. I've never been around Pit Bulls, so I don't really know, and can't comment on them based on experience.
I think I read somewhere that Dachshunds are the most aggressive dogs.

Wow. What an amazing video. I completely agreee. I love pit bulls and every single one I've met in my lifetime has been a sweetheart. The pit bulls "bad reputation" has been blown way out of perportion by the media and prejudice. What people don't seem to realize is that EVERY dog breed has the potential to be vicious. If a pit is raised properly by a good owner (NOT abused, neglected or used for dog fighting like many pits are) then, just like any other dog, they are totally wicked awesome.

Great video, as I sit here with my new addition. I found a pit bull on New Year's Eve....he wondered up my driveway. I knew if I brought him to a shelter, the would just put him down! He is now a part of our family which includes 2 other rescue dogs, one is part pitbull!
ps..that death rate is due to over population because of over breeding. on average 93% of all pit bulls entering a shelter are killed which means only 7% are actually adopted. just wanted to clarify.

i trust my pit, "romeo" without fail he is by far the most patient guy i know . when my boys where babies they laerned to walk using his ears for help he got a couple yelps but never got angry. he actually seemed to incourage them to walk with him.

I was attacked by a neighbors dog once, and it wasn't a Pitbull, a Rottweiler, A German Shephard, or any other bully breed. Actually, I'm almost positive that the dog was a Newfoundland. I have 2 pit bulls one is a female that loves to snuggle with both my 5 yr old and my 8 yr old and i have a male pit bull that wont take his eyes off his "babies" when we go to the lake, and if they are yelling in the water he runs out to check on them. My dogs do a better job than some parents

This reminds me of the shot on Man Eaters. An innocent boy was walking home when he was attacked by several vicious dogs. (One was a Pit Bull.. I think) Those dogs' owners obviously treated them poorly. When the boy was attacked, his entire left arm was eaten off..

It all depends on the trainer/owner. If they raise/train the dog correctly then it shouldn't have agressive behavior. Some dogs are easier to train then others. Any dog can display agressive behavior. I loved your video because it proves how Pit Bulls are not the agressive dog the media makes them out to be. I have two well trained & very DOCILE pits, Petey and Roxy. They both obey by verbal or hand commands; opening and closing doors, stay, sit, lay down and get back up within 3 seconds....all by hand command.
The Pitbul is the second most docile dog, "2nd" after the Yorkie.
I was watchin' Dr. Phil the other day (well, just flipping channels) and I saw a story about this woman who'd had a pit bull for 8 years, and it never heard a fly... then one day she woke up in the middle of the night and the pit bull was gnawing her face off. She pushed the dog off her and called an ambulance. Now, she's scarred for life.

I was actually a victim of a dog bite [buy an AmStaff,at that] and even I realize that that was entirely the owner's fault [he didn't care for the dog very well, nor was the dog socialized or supervised] and I have the fact that dogs are being punished for human fault and abuse. This video remind me of my old pitbull chopper. He was such a nice dog. he also loved the family cats cuz when he would be napping the cats would climb on him and knead his back. He never once harmed them, or the family. He died at the age of 19 :(

I have four pit bulls and my kids are 19 months and 3 years and my pits love and protect them and have never showed any signs of any aggressive behavoiur towards my children or anyone in my family. Can this dog be vicious? Yes, as can any dog with the proper training. I do not raise my pits that way. Pit bulls are getting a very bad rap on this. I have a pitbull, two golden retrivers, and a chocolate lab...the pitbull is the sweetest of them all! He is absolutely just a big baby! I would never feel uncomfortable with him around my children...but belive it or not one of the golden retrievers are more aggresive! She came from another home fully grown and growls around her food...it all has to do with how you raise your animals and giving them love! That dog, ginger, was taught to growl and snap(training). I used to have a pitbull and she died in dec/07 and she was wonderful with me. She protected me against my cousin who was hiting me. My dog growled and almost bit his hand off it was that close but didn't touch him. I love pitbulls!! I consdirite it not to be an attck becasue she was helping me. Others think it was an attack.

Actually it's been proven that the most likely dog to attack someone is a dachsund, follwed by chihuahua, and then a Jack Russell Terrier.
Get informed. On average three deaths a year are caused by dogs. Yet, the number of cities/counties/states that have BSL laws in place are increasing by the day. Because of ill-informed people. So, let's hope they don't restrict weiner puppies, or chihuahuas or JRT's right? Where does this stop exactly? It's called proper training, not the breed.

Beautiful video! Statistics can scare people into irrational choices but these dogs know not to bite the kids and dog owner know when their dog would NEVER bite their kids.
totally agreeing with diane18944. my friend recently bought an australian terrier that had been abused when it was younger. it attacked my friends little sister...because it had been abused. its not the breed at all...
I am interested in knowing more-why BUY an abused dog-then introduce it to children not knowing what it's reaction might be? This is the kind of poor judgment that gets people hurt and BSL passed.
Think before you act especially when kids are involved. I too rescue dogs but I would never put a child at risk for the sake of helping an abused dog. Though an extremely kind gesture, not worth the risk of your family's safety. Never leave kids unattended with dogs not even their own!
I like the video, couple of observations. 1) I would avoid using the word "only" when referring to dead children. It can be taken as a little dismissive, ie, how many dead kids would be a problem? 2) Luckily I clicked on the video (out of skepticism) to see the actual content. Your so right I had this laps in judgment myslef I took in an abusied dog and we loved him and spoiled him and he was just a belove member of the family. I took him to a trainer and considerd myslef so very resondsabl. I thought I was doing such a good deed saving him and that he was the perfect family dog untill he attacked my four year old daughter and her 5 year old friend completly unprovoked. I just didn't realize and I should have I put my child in danger and I can't take it back.

I was attacked at 7 yrs by a vicious dog. He got loose during a storm & attacked. He was kept chained with no shelter in all weather & constantly teased & harrassed. I don't hold it against him; he was terribly abused. I don't believe all Shepherds are like him. Blaming one breed won't end the problem of poor parenting & human irresponsibility.

great vid i wanna stress the fact that there are 26 completely different breeds labled as "pitbull" because over half the population can't tell the difference between an american pitbull terrier and these other breeds. back in the day before bad media and identiity problems american pitbull terriers were known to be better family dogs then labs and goldens they still are in my book they were trusted baby sitters i had a number of american pits growing none never even growled at me!

Pit bulls were actually called nanny dogs because they're so sweet with children. A friend of mine had a pit. People who, who were throwing rocks at the dog, were attacked by it and sued for it. Some how they won and the dog was put to sleep. Gogo (the dog) was the sweetest dog in the world and only acted in defense.

I believe that some breeds of dogs are more aggressive than others, but I do agree that the media picks on Pit Bulls a lot. I've never been around Pit Bulls, so I don't really know, and can't comment on them based on experience.
I think I read somewhere that Dachshunds are the most aggressive dogs.

Wow. What an amazing video. I completely agreee. I love pit bulls and every single one I've met in my lifetime has been a sweetheart. The pit bulls "bad reputation" has been blown way out of perportion by the media and prejudice. What people don't seem to realize is that EVERY dog breed has the potential to be vicious. If a pit is raised properly by a good owner (NOT abused, neglected or used for dog fighting like many pits are) then, just like any other dog, they are totally wicked awesome.

Look at all these babies and all these pitbulls...if it was in their "Genes to be viscious" as some people claim, there wouldn't be any friendly ones, yet there are many.
If you ban them, only the people who love doing illegal stuff will have them and breed them, and they will breed dogs with worst temperaments. Then, the only ones that will exist will be bad dogs.
I wish I had a census count of the hundreds of thousands of pitbulls in the US. Then the 4-5 stories per year wouldn't look so big.

Great video, as I sit here with my new addition. I found a pit bull on New Year's Eve....he wondered up my driveway. I knew if I brought him to a shelter, the would just put him down! He is now a part of our family which includes 2 other rescue dogs, one is part pitbull!

All dogs respond to pack behavior. Any breed has the potential to turn aggressive if not properly socialized by their owners. Like most behavior problems that develop in dogs, aggression is due to human error.

ripped my leg apart. Thank goodness it only got a hold of a little of my leg and pants. I think the dog mainly attacked out of territorally behavior, and the fact that there was a female dog present. Its really a shame that people think breed matters... I doubt my Lab would ever attack anyone, but once he gave a menacing threatning growl toward a suspicious stranger... an animal is capable of anything when the situation calls for it, whether its a Pitbull, a Collie, a Great Dane or a Pomeranian.

I was attacked by a neighbors dog once, and it wasn't a Pitbull, a Rottweiler, A German Shephard, or any other bully breed. Actually, I'm almost positive that the dog was a Newfoundland. If you like your pitbulls then please do everything needed to keep the public safe these dogs can be dangerous. Take care of the animal and train it right. If a dog is good around you, your family and friends it maybe a different dog if out on the loose, on it's own. I have handled pitbulls I've seen some that are very vicious and others that were good dogs. My friend had one that was a big suck all her life. I believe in a few things. Not all pit bulls are vicious dogs who attack people. And that there are exceptions to the "good dog" rule.
The media jumps on attacks because, yes, it hooks people. They also jump on stories of when pets save their owners.
People should put in a little research into the type of dog they're bringing into their home and how it's going to react to the environment. It's not fair to either of them if the pet can't adjust and deal with everything.

I own a blue nose pit. He is well taken care of and trained.. He is such a good dog. My 4 year old grabs him , lays on him, and squishes him. It all depends on the trainer/owner. If they raise/train the dog correctly then it shouldn't have agressive behavior. Some dogs are easier to train then others. Any dog can display agressive behavior. I loved your video because it proves how Pit Bulls are not the agressive dog the media makes them out to be. I have two well trained & very DOCILE pits, Petey and Roxy. They both obey by verbal or hand commands; opening and closing doors, stay, sit, lay down and get back up within 3 seconds....all by hand command.
The Pitbul is the second most docile dog, "2nd" after the Yorkie.

I was watchin' Dr. Phil the other day (well, just flipping channels) and I saw a story about this woman who'd had a pit bull for 8 years, and it never heard a fly... then one day she woke up in the middle of the night and the pit bull was gnawing her face off. She pushed the dog off her and called an ambulance. Now, she's scarred for life.

I have four pit bulls and my kids are 19 months and 3 years and my pits love and protect them and have never showed any signs of any aggressive behavoiur towards my children or anyone in my family. Can this dog be vicious? Yes, as can any dog with the proper training. I do not raise my pits that way. Pit bulls are getting a very bad rap on this. Check the statistics before you point the finger at these dogs.

people mistake these dogs for being mean and dangerous its not their fault its how their owner traines em.. Dogs will do anything for their masters even kill each other...Look into something befor u get the wrong idea....

I have a pitbull, two golden retrivers, and a chocolate lab...the pitbull is the sweetest of them all! He is absolutely just a big baby! I would never feel uncomfortable with him around my children...but belive it or not one of the golden retrievers are more aggresive! She came from another home fully grown and growls around her food...it all has to do with how you raise your animals and giving them love! That dog, ginger, was taught to growl and snap(training). My pitbull, mine since birth!

Pit bulls are very dangerous. All people who have pitbulls should be required to get a license and training! The lower classes love dangerous dogs to protect their drugs!!!

I used to have a pitbull and she died in dec/07 and she was wonderful with me. She protected me against my cousin who was hiting me. My dog growled and almost bit his hand off it was that close but didn't touch him. I love pitbulls!! I consdirite it not to be an attck becasue she was helping me. Others think it was an attack.

This video makes alot of sense.I'm happy to see someone agrees with my family.My sister posted a video on some pits and the beginning they are ours.The only dog in my family that we have are pits and pits only and I have a five year old niece and not one of those dogs hurt her.

i clicked onto this video expecting it to be like this,i own a pitbull and have never had a problem with her and kids i have seen other videos with children playing with these apparently dangerous dogs.i wouldnt of looked if i expected a bloodbath,pitbulls are better dogs than they get credit for,best dog i ever owned.

Its the title thats makes people click it, not the fact that has anything to do with pitbull...
Pitbull are dangerous because of who ownes them! (im not saying that all owners are bad owners but usualy they rase the dog to be agressive)

Great Video. Now if only more people would watch it and chose to become educated. I am the proud owner of An American Pit Bull plus I work to rescue them. Pit Bulls are the great dogs. I work in a vet's office and I would take a Pit Bull any day over any other breed. The are way more predectiable. Great Job and Thank You.

I was expecting to see an extremley messed up video and was expecting to chew your ass, but im glad that you've taken your time to point out not all pits are insane, you just have to treat them right, kinda like a human. If you beat the human all its life without feeding it or loving it, it goes into the world and kills ..TREAT YOUR ANIMALS LIKE YOU WOULD YOURSELF .

Excellent info and slide, i love these dogs and would you believe that because of the "media" that there are now trying to ban pit bulls from our Marine Corps Base, its crap! For god sake any dog could be a killer, but its not their fault, the owner is the one who made em that way, me personally, i think the owner should be put down not the dog.

I don't believe in a ban. We need very strict laws for pet owners. Time for the courts to make people with dangerous pets pay BIG BUCK$ when those pets kill & disfigure someone for life. Garnish there pay & property to compensate the victims.

i would go a lil further and say owners should be fined and jailed for assault with dangerous weapon even if pit bull attacks w/o their knowledge. this would be best alternative to outright ban. let's see how much faith you have in your dog then

you can show all the cute pictures of pittbulls all you want, they are still more likely to attack for no reason than anyother breed of dog, yes all dogs can attack but pitts are the worst, maybe rotts are almost as bad......

It is more publicized because of the bad rep due to the fact that they are more often abused than other dogs,chained,not fed,and taught to attack smaller creatures which are used as bait! I would trust my children around my pit before I would trust any other creature!

Actually it's been proven that the most likely dog to attack someone is a dachsund, follwed by chihuahua, and then a Jack Russell Terrier.
Get informed. On average three deaths a year are caused by dogs. Yet, the number of cities/counties/states that have BSL laws in place are increasing by the day. Because of ill-informed people. So, let's hope they don't restrict weiner puppies, or chihuahuas or JRT's right? Where does this stop exactly? It's called proper training, not the breed.

thanks for posting this breath of fresh air. the breed is a wonderful breed and they are completely stereotyped thanks to ignorant people who cant and dont handle their dog. no breed is any better or worse then another. last two years the dog reported to cause the most bites was the all american favorite...the labrador retreiver. thank you for helping fight stupidity and ignorance. stop breedism...in human terms we call it racism and it is wrong.

Beautiful video! Statistics can scare people into irrational choices but these dogs know not to bite the kids and dog owner know when their dog would NEVER bite their kids.

totally agreeing with diane18944. my friend recently bought an australian terrier that had been abused when it was younger. it attacked my friends little sister...because it had been abused. its not the breed at all...

Think before you act especially when kids are involved. I too rescue dogs but I would never put a child at risk for the sake of helping an abused dog. Though an extremely kind gesture, not worth the risk of your family's safety. Never leave kids unattended with dogs not even their own!

I like the video, couple of observations. 1) I would avoid using the word "only" when referring to dead children. It can be taken as a little dismissive, ie, how many dead kids would be a problem? 2) Luckily I clicked on the video (out of skepticism) to see the actual content. Otherwise, the title could serve to actually reinforce myths about pit bulls- "Just another pit attack, no point in watching..." But, the title makes a point, so I guess you can't really lose it! Very nice work.

Your so right I had this laps in judgment myslef I took in an abusied dog and we loved him and spoiled him and he was just a belove member of the family. I took him to a trainer and considerd myslef so very resondsabl. I thought I was doing such a good deed saving him and that he was the perfect family dog untill he attacked my four year old daughter and her 5 year old friend completly unprovoked. I just didn't realize and I should have I put my child in danger and I can't take it back.

this is beautiful. i am so tired of irresponsible owners who train their dogs to be vicious and or mistreat them so that they are afraid to trust anyone. dogs are just like children, it comes from home. pitbulls will be just like the shepard, doberman, rotweiler, and many other dogs who are bred as guard dogs. people are facinated by their viciousness and highprice. they then get them and won't properly take care of them. the laws should punish the owners, not the animals.

I was attacked at 7 yrs by a vicious dog. He got loose during a storm & attacked. He was kept chained with no shelter in all weather & constantly teased & harrassed. I don't hold it against him; he was terribly abused. I don't believe all Shepherds are like him. Blaming one breed won't end the problem of poor parenting & human irresponsibility.
& I miss Roxie so much - thanks for an awesome video for remembrance. She was such a sweet, intelligent, loving dog...a Pit Bull.

Great Video. People are ill-informed. Having said that, pit bulls can kill, just like any other animal on this planet. How much damage an animal can cause all depends on it's physical attributes and Intelligence. The fact is that humans are the most dangerous animals on this planet.
