finding duplicate files is easy... I created a perl script that will do that. Not just for dll files.

What the heck are you doing deleting an EXE to uninstall a program? Do you just want to do it "your way" or what?

And do you really go poking around your system looking for duplicate DLLs, comparing their versions and removing them from directories you have no business being in in the first place?

In that case, you deserve all the DLL hell you get!

if you have the operating system for your pc put it in drive when you turn computer on and dont install just repair it will give you the option and there might be a possibility that you might have a virus too

oh thanks. the file that i was looking for helped the explorer.exe run, and i used task manager to open up a browser, and i re downloaded that file. now it works. also, that's one of the things i was going to do, but it's on a laptop, so didn't really had a cd for it.

static dll = dll files created and used by one program.

dlls provide subroutines and are a gateway to the system kernel. basically snippets of code that allow an exe to run in a particular way. one way would to display a GUI window, that relies on windows code (API) in order to work.

No. It is a bunch of compiled code that isn't nesscessary its own program, but contains "Functions" in "Libraries" that are nesscessary to spread out all the memory. If you only need 1 library, why load all 5 in an exe when you can load them up on demand?
