At least you are showing someone how to shoot and it looks like you are displaying gun safety except eye and ear protection, other than that great video.
A gun-hating girl at college gave me an earfull till I said "Wanna go to the range? It won't cost you a dime. I'll even buy you ice cream afterwards." "Ok." she said.
"Holy crap, that's a lot of fun." she said with a smile. She's now a convert. ha!
@abanyai123 That's a great story. I really do believe that most people who hate guns have never shot them. If they'd go shoot them, they'd change their minds. This girl in the video sure did.
Kinda cute how they were helping her out...and all of them had a health fear of the gun, when she was shooting. I can feel those guys thinking..."please please, at least point the gun at the ground, when you are done firing".
Awesome. I took my sister in-law out for the first time today (nervously) and ran into more of a "stance" issue with her. She looked like she wanted to cross her legs as she shot. We went over the basics at home before we had ears on and I am glad. She turned out to be an excellent shot and loved it. Every new shooter needs some guidance and everyone has to start somewhere. Never let your guide down.
+1 on the good job. Firearm ignorance can only be overcome in ways like this. Congrats on educating someone.
It was nice to see someone's first time and the quick adjustment she made on fearing it. Every shot was less frightening to her than the one before. That's what it's all about.
@DR7429 Just because a guy wears a 'Guns N Roses' t-shirt doesn't mean he's advertising he's in the band. Cool shirt. Enough said. Haters gonna hate :)
Those people aren't really thinking, j. They very well may be future gun owners but may need to be robbed, raped, or beaten before they get it. They may even have real mental problems and think they are doing "God's Work" being anti-gun and will die willingly to make a point. In the mean time ignore their verbal assaults for they know not what they do when they try to disarm the world.
People, get your friends into our hobby. Do not scare the crap out of them, joke about it and make them not come back. Take them out and show them that we are responsible people that use guns for an enjoyable hobby. Every person that you get into our sport makes it one less against us.
ya it wont hurt you lol but most people that shoot a gun for the first time they dont know how much it is going to kick up so how much force they have to hold it
OMG, HAHAHA, that was priceless! What a wonderful memory to have on film. The reaction was enough, but right after when she said "Did I hit the target"? lol, I could tell right then she is not a quitter but a strong woman! Great job guys, you have inspired me to video my girl when I take her shooting for the first time! Thank you for the video. ~Kevin~
Bottom line is this. Take a non-shooter out to shoot and convert them. Bravo to you guys for doing that. You can always get into training required to do better, but initially they need to have fun under the supervision of someone who knows what they are doing. More people need to do this.
@lightpino I love Nirvana. Just saying is all. This guy really, honestly is amazing on guitar. I started him playing at age 9. He could just play naturally. He is in his mid 20's now & very bad ass with a guitar.
@iamthedude24 Well what you're seeing in the very first time she has shot a gun. She was taught how to hold it but as I'm sure you know, a first timer at anything is going to need corrected more than once as they memorize what they're supposed to do and build the muscle memory. She does much much better now.
lol i also love how she only cares about if she hit the target ahaha 1st shot"point it that way again....did i hit the target?" 2nd shot "yeah it wouldnt hurt yuh chels it just jumps.....did i hit the target?" LOL its quite amazing how shes so scared in this vid but so confident in the vid where hes shooting the AR15 kudos !
Ive never shot a gun but i know it pretty loud as i have been near one when fired but i have a question...after constant use does u become accustomed to the noise to the point it doesnt startle or affect u or do u wear ear protection throughout ure shooting endeavors ?
@SuperWazza08 You always wear hearing protection because the noise will physically damage your hearing. We all have in ear plugs. They're hard to see but we do have them in. It hurts to shoot without hearing protection.
I remember the first time I shot a pistol and it flew out of my hand, but not back at my face, to the ground! I was so scared it would hit me I completely overreacted! I'm a great shot and not afraid with rifles though. ;)
I'm glad it jammed. With each shot her left thumb placement got closer and closer to where the slide would have met flesh. I've found this as something you must check with a new shooter. I remember my buddy calling me to tell me about his student slicing her thumb open because he wasn't paying enough attention to her grip.
@GellyNose i noticed it was going to jam as soon as she took the 2nd shot. she needs to tense up more. Berettas tend to jam on loose grips and used to happen to me on weak hand shots till I got used to it.
I don't know it could just be me but standing straight up seems like the recoil would have a greater impact on you than if you were standing with feet apart and knees bent.
She is cool as hell for trying it, and improved so fast!!! People remember everyone starts somewhere, and she was being supervised. Looked like alot of fun! Rock On, guys and lady! :)
@ELCHINGODEWILMAS310 No one was in any danger. Where do you get that we were in danger and what makes you think any of us there would be okay with being in danger or that we would be ok with being shot?
@jboritzki Sorry if you took the last comment wrong it did come off kinda confusing. I was just saying that she wasn't that "safety" about things. No one is perfect their fist time. Just saying...
@ELCHINGODEWILMAS310 No problem man. I wasn't trying to sound upset. Just a little confused because by the comment. I get a lot of comments that are so out of line I had to make all of her videos an approved comment thing. She does a lot better now, but we're always learning and always on each other about safety.
@jboritzki I love that she went with it even though she was a bit scared. I'm glad she (from what I'm reading) is an avid shooter now. Of course there is always more to learn even when you've been shooting for years.I think most of us watch first time shooters and cringe at the lack of skill because we ourselves have been shooting for a while and seem to forget those first moments when we felt the recoil and said DAMN. Naturally safety comes first and skill with time. Keep Safe and enjoy!
@MrSodaducky Danger is a relative thing. You've got to compare it to something. The reality is that it was, statistically speaking, more dangerous for us to drive to the target range than it was to handle and fire these firearms. None of us think anything about getting in a car and driving places, even if there is no need for the trip, and the fact remains that the road trip is far more likely to kill or injure you than target shooting. Thanks for commenting & watching!
What was careless about it... she had it pointed down range or at the ground the whole time. She never aimed it at anybody. She did have her finger on the trigger unnecessarily but that's something a first timer wouldn't automatically do. I'd say she did a good job for her first time shooting. :-)
Just a thought..... why not start a newbie out with a .22? Then go up from there. I've seen so many videos where the guy is talking his GF or wife into shooting some monster rifle or handgun and I wonder about that. Is it for his own gag reel?
