Even in the old days they critisized bands like Queen and the Clash then when they got famous asked them to be on the front cover.

It's a shame they split but as they said at least they went out with a bang, if they carried on after Louis' dissollusionment (bad spelling i know) it wouldnt be the same, I'll always wish that it never happened but i know it's probably for the best, i'll cherish the Milburn tunes i have at the moment and just wait it out to see if Joe C starts a new band.

The only F--k Up Milburn made was splitting up...Lyrically they're streets ahead of the Monkeys and there sound is much richer and still retains an edge....bad call lads...chemistry in a band like this only around once in a life time....shame you let the press get to you, when there's so many people out who knew what you were doing.

personally im an arctic monkeys fan, and that being said i do really like Milburn. I definatly agree Milburn's songs are much more intricate and tell a deeper story than AM's do. of course AM is more driven(vocally). i think Milburn could have done well in the states, shame they split though.

on a last note... there must be something in the water in Sheffield

There must be lol...glad to see Yorkshire have such a healthy scene at the moments with bands like The Cribs, The Pigeons and The Reverend....bout time lol although I always loved Shed Seven (severly underated) by Going for Gold from HMV for £4 and surprise yerself...and if you like edge buy This World and Body by Marion...it's 12 years old but again you'll see a band that called it right way ahead of there time.

@Rumil20 ....Both bands are great but what annoyed me was Milburn where around at the same time as The Arctics and possibly formed before them. The NME championed The Artics while slagging off Milburn. how is that possible when you compare both bands. To be honest I shouldn't be surprised The N.M.E. has always been full of holy than thou journo's with delusions of grandeur.

Both Milburn albums are excellent and if you've only heard the odd track you should give'em a spin!

@rael1999 you can't really say one's lyrically better than the other. they're styles are completely different. i agree they had something special just as arctic monkeys have got, the only thing that seperated the two is arctic monkeys had the two big hits, if milburn had them, they'd have got the same stardom, no doubt about it.

They're both musical geniuses together just arctic monkeys have to a greater extent in my opinon. but it's all guesswork obviously cos milburn could've gone anywhere/

Milburn are a real labour of love for me. I'm not sure what grips me most; the smugness i feel when i mention them to my mates in the pub and none of them know their brillinace;.... or the sheer frustration that a song as mint as this really deserves a wider audience cos its easily as strong as anything arctic monkeys have put out. This, 17, What about Next Time, Send in th Boys, Cheshire Cat Smile, What Will You Do When The Money Goes; the list goes on. Seems so tragic....
