  • @blackandtanful huh?

  • this is obviously better than the funk remix...

  • yoga fire~haha anyway he is so nice jazz men dayo

  • Is he Dhalsim?

  • and in the congas is Chano Pozo who is really the musical arranger of this song who put this all together. A troubled conga player from the Habana Cuba. Chano Pozo, Really do you think a American will come on with this beat, NOT.. Chano Pozo the conga player.

  • @jsuaveman36 i agree with what u said of Chano being the brain behind this song, but unfortunately he was already dead when they recorded this album. As Dizzy himself said, Chano is one of the fathers of Latin Jazz. Too bad he doesnt have a single monument or at least a plaque in the country that saw his birth.

  • Chano Pozo es el compositor de este numero llamado "Manteca"

  • crab in my shoemouth

  • 2 people will be smited by the salsa god.

  • ディジーは目もくらむような!~チャノ・ボゾの"MANTECA"~ガレスピーはいつもまばゆい!~アフロ・キューバンの扉をジャズに開けた #jazzm

    Easy. A Justin Beiber Fan

  • ...this song is so fun to play on thr trumpet cuz i am the only one in class who plays it an octave higer in some parts of it...but the drum part is cool as...what to doo

  • uggggggh how does he get his cheeks like that !? ><

  • @ohsnapitslydia the aliens probed his mouth....nuff sed

  • @ohsnapitslydia he had muscle contractions

  • hey anthony. this song is epic

  • OMG!! I was in the MDCC(mississippi delta community college)jazz ensemble and we played this. this was our all-time favorite song.

  • Dizzy looks like he's about to projectile vomit... after playing some wonderful jazz of course.

  • yeeeaaa Dizzy Gillespie eatin' the puddin'

  • he's a fucking jazz frog!

  • En los cueros y quien le revoluciono completamente el sonido a Gillespies, señores: CHANO POZO

  • I tried to imitate his cheeks. Didn't even come close.

  • @extremesniper007 there are actually seperated from his face slightly from the continuos doing so

  • @extremesniper007 i tend to do that at alot of my concerts lol

  • dizzy is one of my fave jazz musicians. way up there with louis. miles can suck it :P

  • 0 dislikes. mhm, thats right.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY DIZZY - today (21st october) should be made a national holiday or a festival or something. Your music will live on. Maybe in hundreds of years you will get the attention your music deserves - like Mozart - only swingin'.

  • This picture is a photo collage, because the right side and the left side of the face are perfectly symmetrical, and that is impossible.

  • @eltiolatranca Wrong. Look where his index finger touches his face. How does it feel to be wrong?

  • @drone713 Wrong. Look his eyebrows, his nose, his eyes, his ears, the reflected light in his face, ¡¡¡his forehead!!!. All his right features are exactly like his left features. How does it feel to be wrong?

  • @eltiolatranca Then explain his lip.

  • @drone713 Photoshop

  • @eltiolatranca So they decided to photoshop everything except his lip?

  • @drone713 I don´t understand you.

  • @eltiolatranca Because I am the winner.

  • @drone713 Congratulations

  • @eltiolatranca Thanks.

  • With the sheer capacity in his cheeks, I wonder how awesome his circular breathing would have been on a digeridoo?

  • beautiful picture, beautiful piece.

  • It's hard to believe with all the years of playing like that his cheeks never burst a blood vessel or something. At any rate, you gotta love him.

  • 1957 State sponsored tour sang never go back to Georgia available on Verve label.Dizzy was probably at the peak of his power on this tour the stars had alligned.Great band featuring Lee Morgan,Billy Mitchell, Melba Liston,Benny Golson,Phi Woods,Wynton Kelly,Paul West,Charlie Persip, trumpet and arrangements by Qunicey Jones, also arrangements by Melba,Dizzy,Ernie Wilkins and Benny Golson.Great Great BAND!

  • Indeed: Viva Fidel!

  • Does any one know if the version where he has the band singing, "Never goin' back to Gerogia" is posted here?

  • I'll never go back to Georgia!

  • @pcostel1 LOL YES

  • @pcostel1 what does that refer to? I heard the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni Band shout that right before this piece on a CD

  • @RiversideIndian often times those convicted in other states of crimes (drug posession, etc) were shipped to the Georgia Penitentiary system... It's a sign of the times when musicians had to deal with being labelled borderline criminals and harassed by cops at every town in which they played. Now the most popular Black "musicians" i.e. rappes, wish they were criminals to the point where they seek jail... times have changed.

  • @jprutube77 thanks

  • @RiversideIndian jprutube77 explained it better than I ever could. I know it from the remix on the Verve Remixed albums.

  • @RiversideIndian a lot of latin jazz stuff has a saying that tells the underlying beat, I'll never go back to Georgia fits this melody of this song!

  • @RiversideIndian The phrase refers to the fact that alot of musicians at the time did shows in the jim crow south where they would perform for all white audiences so "I'll never go back to georgia" is essentially them saying that they refuse to play those shows

  • This sounds like the mp3 file got stretched out or something, it's really trippy

  • look at the cheeks.... the cheeks of a jazz god

  • @chainmailstud

    Cheeks of an ape.

  • @theshitaIker you, also, are an ape. so am i.

almost a funny joke you had, there.

  • @theshitaIker What excuse of a homo sapien writes something as insensitive as that? IQ of an ape? Me thinks so.

  • @chainmailstud thats fuckin disgusting, lol.

  • everybody says this song is really fun to play... try telling that to a girl in my band class

  • Too awesome For my ears

  • this is a fun song to play!
