Before I got this one( GH22LS50) I was using LG GSA-4163B.
The 2 main reason I bought this drive are : Firstly, I wanted to go on SATA interface and secondly, the LightScribe feature seemd a great deal( as now I am enjoyng labeling my disks). I have to say that the GSA-4163B was more silent both tray open/close and disk spinning AND the way it looked was more "cool".
But anyway, this is a good drive too, except for the fact that I have to use Verbatim or other highquality disks to get goodresult
I went with dual Samsung Super Writemaster 24x which is cool because I found it with the help of Maximum PC even though it is not even on the Samsung site anymore.
I have had zero problems with any LG optical drives and would recommend them over any other manufacturer. Sorry to hear you are having problems with your drive.
@kodemunke i had 3 lg drives and they all died witin 3 weeks. i now have a lg blu ray re-writer it's running great. just depends on how much you spend on a lg product
I don't have access to the drive anymore. The PC is already in the client's hands, sorry. I own the GH22NS30 which is basically the same thing without the lightscribe support.
Mine has randomly stopped reading dvd's its a real pain.
