IAIS is crappy and there trains tipped over 2 times and they are shitty and u r brave because i am scared the shit out of trains because i have seen them tip over and i almost died and because su
It's even scarier when it is double stacked shipping containers.. I have had some close encounters with those things like this before, they get rocking so much that they squeak and clang pretty loud. in 2005 a CN Rail Train with 120 Fuel Tankers tipped over into Wabamun Lake and dumped 700,000 Litres of Pole Treating oil into the lake. It will never be the same.
@MattBNSF1991 This is only minor and nothing to worry about. You will be amazed on how much these cars can rock and not come off. When they are empty they rock real easily.
id call this mild swaying. i use to live across the street from the old penn central railroad crossing back in the 70's. cars would sway so badly the wheels would sometimes lift off of the rail!!!!!
@saintsrowthethird100 Good thing you don't actually work for a railroad. The men and women who do this for a living have to actually ride these freights.
That is called harmonic sway. 39' rails+ perfect wheel base+ perfect speed+ crappy roadbed. Yes this can topple a train. There are rules against traveling at certain speeds ( I forgot what they were) over jointed rail to prevent such a thing from happening.
thats one long muthafuggah for two units

This is called "harmonic rocking" . Happens alot on jointed rail, but I've also seen it happen on ribbon rail.
The squeaking noise is the cars rocking on the center pin & the bolster.

This is called rock and roll.
There's probably a speed restriction here.
Critical speed is between 12 to 22 MPH.
If the train is between 12 to 22 MPH on rock and roll rail, there is a REAL possibility the cars could derail.

@MattBNSF1991 What? I thought CSX owns this line, and the IAIS owns trackage rights.

those hoppers looked like they were going to tip over
Heyde1979 3 months ago
Yeah, funny how hoppers will do that on jointed rail. Sounds awesome. I, myself, liked the sounds of the spines and wells. Thanks for the post.

Funny you say that because the IAIS had an ethanol derailment a week ago and it caught on fire.

By the way....nothing unusual here at all.

@saintsrowthethird100 That's saying the tanks are carrying dangerous commodities ... in this case they are. At this speed, they wouldn't puncture.

He's pulling at about 25mph. Anything faster on track like that may turn into a bad situation.

Maybe that's the same SOB who brought the IAIS train through the night I filmed them.
