  • i understood nothing. need normal english

  • LOL Steve Conklin! I wonder if he's related to me...

  • @bilyisbored92 I think you are wanting embroidery, a totally different craft. There are computerized embroidery machines for doing what you suggest. Take a look for videos on them.

  • So cool... I love to see Becky's problem solving processes. For anyone who doesn't have access to friends who can hack a cable, I suggest the program DAK and its cable. I use them on my 970 and even use the shaping capabilities on other non-electronic machines. Design the motif on the computer, print it out and punch the card using the print as a template. The result is pretty close to electronic input. Thanks, Becky..! You're the greatest..!!

  • Brilliant.

  • Hi was just wondering do you know if it's possible to do this with the KH910? Many thanks in advance Miranda

  • Hi

  • Bloody Fantastic! Very clever indeed!

  • The way you use the machine you should oil it frequently. Check the manual and see after how many hours of use it should be done.

I just bought a PPD for y machine and a Super Cartridge so I can hook it up to a computer. Got it from Dknits.com FOr those of us how can't do what you do. But do oil and clean the machine and it will last a long time.

  • Wow, never mind, just saw the link, very helpful, thanks!!!

  • That was very interesting and you all are so smart to figure this out, but I have no idea how or what you really did, lol, I am technologically impaired! Hehehe, I have a CompuKnit 111 the same as the 930 but would never be able to do what you did, there was no info on the adjustments done to cord. Amazing job THANKS!!

  • Hi BEcky, You are amzing. WOuld never be able to do all that. I would suggest however that you machine needs some oiling on the carriage and bed.

    Best of luck.

  • @euvid1 Lol, i noticed it too, black oil streaks on the bed, needs a cleaning, will stain the yarn at this point.

  • Thanks for this video, I was in search of a cheaper solution to DAK and the bl5 cable.

  • Becky, can you please do a video on the green and red wires on the cord? I'm stuck on that step.

  • Why does every hacker girl have piercings, tatoos and short hair? Can't complain with the results of the work so, don't change what aint broken, but sometime I'd like to see one of these lady-geeks do something rebellious like long-hair and a princess gown instead of doing what everyone else does.

  • @EngineerAtheist so you pigeon-hole everyone huh? you were very rude to her. if you didn't like the instruction then you can bitch, but you leave this gal alone. and while you're at it, you should apologize to her!

  • OMG! People are amazing!

  • I hacked a toaster this afternoon. Shit was pretty cash...

  • Is there a difference between a KH-930E AND A KH-930 machine? If so, can you hack the KH-930 the same way?

  • @mchin805, The Brother KH-930i has a floppy drive whereas, the KH-930 does not. Other than that, they're both exactly the same. I assume that you can hack the same way. You may want to go to her website for step-by-step instruction.

  • Your skill level is clearly way above this, but could you make a video about adding cool patches to work shirts (like dickies or something similar). Sort of like the name patch you would normally find on those shirts. That would be cool.

  • I have the same machine, I haven't used it in a long time, I was wondering how I ever would be able to do my own designs. This is great!!!! But, I'm still quite confused on how you did all this....I better get help from someone who knows computers...

  • I have the same machine, I haven't used it in a long time, I was wondering how I ever would be able to do my own designs. This is great!!!! But, I'm still quite confused on how you did all this....

  • why did you split the pattern into 2 tracks (0 &1)?

did you load track 0? can you explain it a little more to me? msg if better than posting reply.

    b

  • that is so involved!!! now i know why shirts are so expensive o.o lol jk

  • You are so cool! Aaa! :D

  • wow that looks so complicated, but at least it worked!!

  • *Sarcism* Your so cool hacking a sewing machine, your so gangster *Sarcism*

  • you look like adam savage

  • this is teh high tech.

  • Fucking ugly

  • 1:38-1:40 is Garry"s Mod!!!!

  • oh yeah. you know...cause i only understood like 4 words in this whole video....

  • i onlyclicked on the vid bcuz she's nerd hot! ;p

  • In my ventures of looking for the most enjoyable and fulfilling hobby, I have most certainly decided on electronics hardware and software. More over, the DIY crowd for these interests seem to be growing. Either that or I'm being delusional because I recently stumbled upon it.

Now, I'm wondering about the organization of this body of people. What can we do if we join forces and is there an attempt to make a large organization?

In short, I want to use that damn machine is there a line?

  • cool, I've never seen a machine like that before...

  • Too bad this Girl is not kinda Sexy and Pretty because she's good in Computing & I didn't got a thing in the coding thing she said, I just watched and my eyes was OPEN just like a Girl kissed me, well no one have kissed me till now, I just said that.

And as the guy on Highest Rated Comments said ..., you have to buy a separate PC and don't let her touch it.

  • really really really cool becky!

  • @kristoferlarson I agree, good hacking!

  • nerd.

  • But till it blend?

  • COOOOOOOOOOL

  • First thing I thought... "nice hair cut"

Second: "Why aren't there anymore out there like you are?!"

  • Why do i find her oddly attractive?

  • Intelligence is the only true aphrodesiac.

  • I think it would have been less work to just learn how to knit.

  • @JustBenInLA

not if you are a programer :D

  • LOVE IT, im new to programing, just started last year, but i have been knitting for years!!!! i have an old toyota machine that is totaly low techek, but now i want to get a comuter driven machine just so that i can program it!!! that is if i can find a machine on a studen budget..... how did you change the data cable?

    thanks again for the video!

  • its faster to just stitch it manualy :)

  • That's awesome. Smallest target demographic ever, but waaaaay cool! Huzzah!

  • i was a computer major for a couple years in college and shes got me more lost with a knitting machine than hyperthreading on a microprocessor. O,..,O

  • I think my grandma can make that.... NOT :D

  • This shit just blew my mind ~!!!!

  • You are one smart girl O_O!!!

  • why does make keep deleting my comments, all i asked was, is the music a remix of the music from mario paints stamp maker... or was it the robot saving

  • @Sillyzombie666 original music by Collin Cunningham! =]

  • @makemagazine wow a non deleted comment O_O

  • WOW Amazing I want one. =D

  • @RinaldiMeteoric a girl like that or a knitting machine? because your comment can be taken {x|1<x<2} of 2 ways

  • both =P =D

  • This is really cool. One piece of advice, though, is to show the finished product near the beginning of the video so the viewer knows if it's something he/she is interested in.

  • I don't know much about knitting, but I know a cute and clever girl when I see one.

  • you're cute

  • Smart and cool

  • she kinda looks like Austin powers

  • now she can knit and make sandwiches at the same time!

  • pretty cool

  • wow you've got patience

  • All the people who hate Mac's because they say "you can't customize as much, and do as much" are just too dumb to actually get into any of the software.

  • you are amazing! keep up the genius stuff!

  • so much work, but was it worth it?

  • @bilyisbored92 totally, now it's possible to make any graphic into a sweater, scarf, etc.

  • @bilyisbored92 it would go much faster if she didn't have to explain each step. The lnext step is to replace the Brother electronics entirely and drive the solenoids directly from a microcontroller. . That would eliminate many steps and provide more memory.

  • That WAS straightforward!... If you actually are a computer/knitting-hacking genius like her. Otherwise that was just 7 minutes of none sence.

  • That seem like a lot of work for just knitting. Who knew you needed a PhD in computer science just to knit clothes?

  • It's easier to sew the pattern with a needle.

  • WOOOOOOOOOOW........

  • Becky, you need to stop that nonsense with your hands... you look like you're about to fire up a gangster rap.

  • I'm not one for knitting but it is a very cool machine

  • <3 ur < 3 necklace.... where u get that?

  • @casz00gamer made it, search for "ascii heart necklace" to find it & get one.

  • I still have my old Tandy floppy.

  • Nice vid but thats a 2 bit image. 1 bit would be 1 solid block

  • @ryolo132 Nope, it's a 1 bit image - 1 bit is used to describe each pixel in the image. Look up "Binary Image" in wikipedia.

  • Mrs Gates does knitting! :)

  • lol...I.M.G

    I -am- g :)

  • I soooo love this !!!

  • I am going to show this to my wife, she will love it.

  • hahaha Gmail ! 5261

  • your pro

  • Waay to much hassle...

  • You should hack a stove next.

  • @B1rkley

Actually, you may be onto something: A setup where you could use video reference software to detect what type of food you are putting in the oven (managed by a modified arduino perhaps?) and it can automatically set temperature and time. THEN, the oven can either send you a text message...or better yet set up it's own Twitter account to let everyone know dinner is served.

    Good idea!

  • You should make some sort of motor that will slide it back and forth for you! xD

  • Why waste your time hacking one of those anyways.

That machine is a piece of shit. There's a reason technology has advanced in the last 30 years people.

  • she scares me

  • It's like a manual printer

  • i'm gonna try this later on today!

  • very cool

  • is that bill gates daughter ?

  • Damn, I wish my girlfriend was like you!! Kinda scary I wish my GF was into kniting, but still :) Keep on it! :)

  • MAGIC

  • I think you need a new knitting machine.

  • i dont get it

  • @TheEdbassmasterfan You are not alone.

  • very cool. thanks for sharing.

there is a Brother KH-930e Knitting Machine for sale on ebay. hackers from all over the world are going to bid.

  • @DrSkeletor it's for delivery/pickup in the Puget Sound area only... lucky Seattelites!

  • @makemagazine hey thats where i live XD

  • I wish I had a knitting machine. Then I can make multicam for cheap! hah

  • electronic knitting sounds like the machine does it itself and noone has to move the slider =/

  • @fredlllll Tell that to my triceps! =]

  • To borrow a line from Boondock Saints 2. You are so smart, you make smart people feel like they are fucking retarded. Keep up the good work.

  • very cool

  • Who else almost clicked "OK" when the Photoshop window was open?

  • HAAAAAAXXXXXX

  • i think it be cooler if the knitting machine was fully automated

  • cool vid becky

  • any one at all actually had a use for this?. I think she deserves a award for the most useless video on youtube

  • @sintax127 use your brain. then you know

  • yes now i dont need to buy cloths i can just buy thread lol

  • @jjppmm29 You don't even need to buy the thread either. There are lots floating around the internet.

  • You know if you were married to a girl like that, she would be able to find all the hidden porn on your computer.

  • @altradude ahahahhaah :D Nice one :D

  • @altradude you wouldnt need porn cause a girl like that would be a freak in bed! lol

  • @altradude The question is "Could you find all of her's" The test of alpha nerd at its best .

    You mad, fatass?

  • coolest hack ever - but even cooler to remember all that mystic numbers ...

  • Wow, knitting nerds!!! So cool! :)

    Great video.

  • I think she is related to Hillary Clinton.

  • Pretty cool stuff. It is amazing that someone saw a need and spent the time to write a Tandy Floppy Drive emulator in python. Very impressive use of an older technology. Good job Becky!

  • LOL, i thought i was a automated machine! Thats seems like a workout! haha. Nice hack though!

  • looks diffiquilted but nice"!

  • That's very cool.

  • Cool! yeah!

  • lol so cool

  • Haha, this project is just to easy for me to even attempt. I'd be done with it in about one minute!

  • @AnimationShorts1

Ok, if it's SOOOO easy, post a vid of you doing it in less than a minute. Yep. I'm calling you out.

  • Nice!

  • wow

  • sweet i did this and it totally works thank you so much

  • l o l ?

  • This was interesting... and I love your voice. IDK why.

  • Hacking a knitting machine ? Damn those female hackers...

  • omg nerd overlord....

  • Geez, 5261 unread gmail messages? Becky's next project should be an inbox reading robot!

  • I could have probably knitted that myself in the time it took you to do it with the machine XD but it's still a cool video, albeit obscure. :P

  • That was complicated.

  • looks great. to bad i dont have one of them fancy knitting machines

  • All these numbers make my brain hurt...

  • @SuperMarioFan007 You must have an incredibly small brain since there were not many numbers at all.

  • @SuperMarioFan007

Uh... dude. That was a pretty straightforward explanation. The only "numbers" were how to count out the pixels for width and height and the file path names. You must either not get out much or things beyond a calculator confuse you...

  • first! ^.^
