This nation could not have been built without the coal from WV (being responsible for 80% and 30% of the nation's steel and power respectively, yet none of the money or benefits went to the state because of back door deals made by the "robber barons." When miners tried to unionize, federal airplanes bombed their homes....

Read about the Miners' struggle in WV from 1880-1930 and you'll understand why we're proud to be called rednecks. Then look at the way we're portrayed in the media and and culture as stupid, inbred, backwater peons. WV citizens are hardworking proud people who are routinely and systematically disrespected by the rest of the nation. So we show that disrespect right back. Eat shit Jeff.
