I have good news: My hen did finally sit on the eggs and the eggs hatched two days ago. 13 beautiful chicks hatched, 5 naked necks and the other 8 regular ones.
I need somebody to answer this for me: My hen has laid 11 eggs by now and hasn't sit down on them, she has open space and a rooster, good food and water. In other words everything she needs to go broody. Will she keep laying eggs and finally sit down ? What can I do ?
OMG that hen is so beautiful . btw I've a question . do all hens get broody ? I've heard that some special colors don't get broody ever during their life though they keep having eggs . eh ?
The color of the hen is not a factor, it is the breed. Certain breeds of chicken that have been raised specifically for eggs had lost the instinct to go broody. Usually dual purpose birds still go broody, as do bantams, silkies, and game hens. But its kind of up to the bird.
