  • i agree wotansschwert......... i have the recording with her singing brunhilde and Norman singing sieglinde...... minton fricka........ I think altogether rather good!....

  • they should bring out this Walkure on Bluray!

  • "Oh herstes Wunder" by Altmayer is just breathtaking & thrilling... One of the best Sieglinde... wow

  • I have seen the Met version and this production though I prefer the Ring staging by the Met it being more traditional, the singing and acting in the Boulez Bayreuth production is far superior.

  • officially THE sexiest Sieglinde ever!!

  • great! what the hell happened to gabriele schnaut? she sounds superb here

  • Schnaut only sings Waltraute here, just a few sentences, perhaps you mix her up with Altmeyer or Jones?

  • She isn't "reminded" she is pregnant, she is told for the first time

  • Faboulous Gwyneth Jones, Wonderful Altmeyer... Divine, Lightful, Consecration of humanity.

  • get the mets production..james morris is an excellent wotan....but your right i wish we could get nilsson on dvd..

  • Want to get The Ring on dvd - am dithering between this and the met production with Jerusalem/Behrens/Norman. Prefer the traditional met staging and Jerusalem, but Gwyneth ROCKS as Brunnhilde - someone advise me please? (Pity there's no dvd with Nilsson).

  • I cannot really advise... but...

I have seen both DVDs but I bought this one.

Both casts are very strong and I have a lot of respect for every single artist on those.

Both productions are wonderful to watch and all bigger or smaller parts are superbly sung.

My choice was based on the consummate interpretation of a Jones in form that defies criticism or even comparison (her Walküre cry, the awakening in Siegfried or the Götterdämerung make History) and the timbre of MacIntyre's Wotan...

  • Mir schwankt das Herz! Powerful conducting and incredible voices. Mrs. Jones sang at a friend's house once (i was still too young, ahy me!) and they tell the windows were trembling at her thundering tones!!! And how good in lyrical roles, too! She could bow her gigantic voice to murmurs, mezza-voce and to mozartian messa-di-voce... How wonderful Altemeyer's Sieglinde, too!

  • Love it. One of my favorite recorded pieces of music.

    Thanks for the upload.

  • same here!!!
