When the rock n roll turned into a competition of which band has the best musicians, it's not about the music anymore! i'ts all about who has better abilities and plays better!! I thought that rock n roll was music and not a fuckin' silly competition. Rock n roll is dying because you guys out there don't find happiness listening to something simple. You can't deny that Black Album has one of the best productions in metal.

Lou Reed album or not, the music was mostly Metallica's input to the project, and the music was not good at all. And it officially counts towards Metallica's discography (it's Lou Reed and Metallica, not featuring).

@baingr9000 Yeah, I agree Kirk's recycling his old solos, but most guitarists that have been around for 30 years tend to do that. Kirk's got a very bluesy style, and when your music is played in one key, the blues tends to repeat it self often. I love Kirk's style, I just wish he'd incorporate more modal ideas into it. There are better players, that get ignored but there's thousands of awesome guitarists, some will always be ignored by some segment of the population.

Geezer Butler or Bill Ward were quoted as calling themselves "heavy rock" (can't remember which one said it, just kinda read it somewhere) Either way, one of the greatest bands ever to hit a stage.

I thought that metallica came first and then pulled kirk from exodus (a band in which he created) to metallica and then kicked dave mustange(i cant spell it and i dont want to look it up) who then went and made megadeth. funny side note from megadeth, listen to mechanix from them and then to the four horseman from metallica. :)
@darkangel11909 Mechanix was one of the demos Metallica played with Mustaine. They let Mustaine have some of it as compensation for kicking him out of the band, especially since he also made some of the riffs :P

I've seen pretty good guitar players get eaten up by some pretty easy songs, a guy I used to know...old dude great player loved SRV stuff, couldn't get the timing to Seether's "Rise Above." @baingr9000 Yeah, I agree Kirk's recycling his old solos, but most guitarists that have been around for 30 years tend to do that. Kirk's got a very bluesy style, and when your music is played in one key, the blues tends to repeat it self often. I love Kirk's style, I just wish he'd incorporate more modal ideas into it. There are better players, that get ignored but there's thousands of awesome guitarists, some will always be ignored by some segment of the population.

Rhythmwise he is ok, but still he gets paid for writing solos as well, i think he should do it well also. 2. did not mention wah at all... Thats part of his style, im not saying that is bad. 3. Of course there are haters, and if people say that i suck, i fix the parts that suck. I have done that and made a good progress.

Look at the guitarist from Toxik, also a student of Joe. That guy is at least 50 times better than Kirk hammett, listen to the album World Circus.

Geezer Butler or Bill Ward were quoted as calling themselves "heavy rock" (can't remember which one said it, just kinda read it somewhere) Either way, one of the greatest bands ever to hit a stage.

I thought that metallica came first and then pulled kirk from exodus (a band in which he created) to metallica and then kicked dave mustange(i cant spell it and i dont want to look it up) who then went and made megadeth. funny side note from megadeth, listen to mechanix from them and then to the four horseman from metallica. :)
