  • this doesnt give me the same eerie sense that the original does...i like the pixies version much better...

  • ya, i mean james blunt has talent and is a good artist...but this song is above him...for so many reasons other than talent...i didnt like this cover, and i agree with whoever said it, but it sounds like he doesnt sing with emotion...its no good

  • he even fucked up the lyrics.

a pop zombie ruining a fucking alternative masterpiece.

  • he did great job with this song, really great job

  • This is a great cover.

  • scribble dabble. You guys are idiots. That was a great cover by an over-poppy artsit.

Slippy snobby nickel rake schoool let

  • i guess this is cool. just barely, though

  • People!!!!! He did not even get close to the real soul of this song...the vocals are creepy, he sings without emotion and deep involvement either. Sad and depression version of one of the best punk underground bands ever. Please Blunt, keep doing what you do best: love/silly/girly songs! A classical is a classical and it is not easy to perform well.

  • sucks my ass, this is good stuff losers

  • i like james blunt but man he killed this great song he sounds like shit

  • This sucks!!!!!!!

  • He doesn't try to reinvent it... he just does it straightforwardly. Not as bad as I thought it would be at all

  • james blunt your a piece of shit, if your a pro musician cover a more difficult song. your an offense to the pixies trying to make this song all vocal

  • James, you did a very nice job on this song. You rock!!! I'm a big fan

  • Long live the pixies, best band ever.

but seriously I hate JB and he did a great job here. Play oN!

  • he nailed this song, pixies are great too! I think this is my new theme song!

  • this could be my anthom!

  • He did a good job, i don't like Blunt(James) but he did a very good job.

  • i agree

  • The Pixies version is one of my favorite songs of all time, and he nailed it.

  • All you peeps who dis this are moronic.. the original is amazing and he does some justice... listen to the original again...

  • I totally agree, Blunt rules and I friekin love the pixies so they kinda mix together into the blurry blixies. At least thats like my interpretation.

  • It's pretty... kinda. I have a really bad head ach though and I can't understand the words but I will always like his acent and enjoy most of his songs but... wow. Awe. He's mumbling or sluring or something though I do like when he sings "where is my mind". Over all it's a 3/5. Not great... but certainly not bad.

  • To fallow my last comment this song is WAY better originally but his intent was good I suppose. My head ach won't go away and I sorta wish I didn't listen to this song but he tried and that's what matters. I gotta go take an asprin now... thanks to James Blunt's attempt but once more... he tried. I think I'm being too soft on him though. He really didn't sound good.

  • Flat and lifeless, off time, Blunt is closer to the Pixies on lithium. Should have stuck with his own genre.

  • Awesome, an amazing cover.

  • He ddid a great job! You just don't like James Blunt.

  • HE TOTALLY RUINED THIS SONG!!! HE CAN'T SING WORTH A S**T!!! THE PIXIES ARE 1,000,000,000x BETTER THAN THIS PRICK! OMG I THINK I MAY THROW UP!!

  • James blunt is great...the pixies are ok too.

  • Great cover of a classic

  • GROSS!!! i appreciate that he brings some level of originality to the song which is more than most who cover pixies, but the pixies mentality is raw, DIY, and most of all surreal, when you bring a semi-folk, dream pop band to a college rock great, what do you get? an oxymoron. can't you see how this clashes?? it's inbetween original and copycat, he just needs to bring more of his element into it, otherwise he's just covering pixies, not playing "where is my mind?"

  • Does anyone know if this is the same concert that aired on Direct TV about a year ago. I watched it once and I really was impressed with his music. I heard 1973 today on Sirius. What a great song.

  • It's a cover song, but hey what's wrong with someone who writes and produces music that is simple and suitable for anyone who doesn't need some kind of "inside the box" emo group, rock, rap artist, etc. to enjoy a good tune :)

  • it definately follows his style... which i like... most of the time...

    hehehehe!!!

  • Do 'Debaser' asshole!

  • this is his style..for all those who think they can do better...where is your label..just as i thought you only have a big mouth.......and no talent....

  • Is it bad when kids who are covering this song in their basement or bedroom are doing it better? This 70's folk sound is horrible.

  • high in the running for "Worst Cover Ever" catagory. Of all time. more like James Cunt

  • James is the best DAM musician the world has ever had and if you listen to his words you will hear the world crying and fearing for it's life. Dig it!!!!!?????

  • i just died. in the bad way.

  • James Blunt is absolutly amazing, he's an amazing singer, songwriter, musician and preformer. I'd like to see some of you fuck heads with the negative comments ATTEMPT to try and do what he does. The whole place would most likely be cleared out within minutes. He has millions listening to him, loving him, and supporting his music. If you don't like it than don't comment it. Think before you write down negative things.

    Thanks.

  • except for he didn't write this song....hes not even the first to cover it. ? hes pretty hot though.

  • love the song. will it be on the new album?

  • Wow,so many negative comments, they really don't make any sense to me. He sings it with his style wich is good and he deserves some credit for that. I think he is an amazing artist, no matter what.

  • in most eyes, covers will never be as good as orginals and that is true for most covers, but this cover is still really good, give him a break man, Chill, its sweet

  • its actully allright but da original 1 band r better

  • yes, my ears bled, too. NO ONE should EVER do a cover of this song. It is the best pixies song!

  • Sorry, I couldn't finish this video. I was skeptical at some of the negative comments before I pressed play, but now . . . well now my ears are bleeding.

  • dude shut up it sounds great

  • I don't know which is worse, this cover, or Panic at the Disco's cover of "Karma Police".

The only good these "covers" serve is torturing people.

I'm serious, if you locked OJ in a room with this song, he'd come out in 20 seconds saying "OK I DID IT!! MAKE IT STOP PLEASE!!"

  • no one should cover this song..... ever. Thank you James Blunt for taking an alternative rock classic and destroying it with all the pop music bs. It isn't as bad as it could be but it has none of what made the pixies music so great.

  • this shit sucks ass. thanks for butchering a tight song, james blunt. king of fucking tools.

  • WOW! he sings it with so much more heart and expression than the pixies who i love, but this seems more alive and fresh, altho i prefer kim's vocals which are more haunting...

  • this is so amazing!

  • fucking classic song, he did it justice.

  • his voice is badass. fuck off.

  • I <3 this song

  • the only part he does well is the opening guitar parts

  • go die

  • he butchered a classic

  • not entirely bad, but I find his voice lacks the frantic quality that Black Francis' part had, which was part of the whole theme of the song

  • His voice...just gets on my nerves. It's whiny and almost impossible to listen to.

  • blunt himself isnt that bad, but the dude doing kim's part was hard to listen to.

  • Great; for everyone who thinks this is permissible is one more person who will convince Jewel that she should do a cover for "Debaser."

  • Christ... this is terrible.

  • I love every Version of this! The Pixies-Placebo-James Blunt. theres quite a few more. must be a popular song!

  • beautiful song, perfect singer.. what's more ?

  • what a prick

  • Diffrent but not necesarrily worse. However, i think Pixies interpretation is the one and only.

  • Eh? Take a 80's song that sounded ahead of its time and turn it into a 00's song that sounds early 70's? Why not some disco remakes you hack? Frank Black rules.

  • The only thing I don't like (and it's a great version!) is the word "mind" - his voice is not for low parts ;-)

  • I think it's much better than the original! James Blunt is great!!!

  • saying that placebo's version is crap is pretty much like saying the original is crap.. ¬¬ who gives a fuck about this guy's "taste in music".. this version doesn't make you feel like the original did.. its a pointless cover

  • ummm, wasn't this a pixies song????

  • I just got this DVD 9 hours ago. LOVE IT GET IT NOW! You must, for James?

  • Great cover. Nice to see he didn't carbon copy but styled it his way. Go Blunty!

  • Wow he done that cover superbly!!

  • You like this original song and this one too? Check out Nada surf's version

  • the placebis version is crap..the fact of the matter this guy actually covered a song most peopel wouldnt know...and he obviously has a very specific taste in music..fare play to the guy im not a fan of his musicm and he never destroyed the song ..just his interpretation

  • you should have heard placebos version of this song...

  • placebo beat the original

  • beautiful!

  • Saw him perform this last night and was blown away! I love the original and must give him kudos on his version.

  • amazing!

    thanks for sharing!

  • James Blunt (should be called something that rhymes with blunt!) just cremated a class tune. gutted.
