Someone help me with a song I believe Mitch Miller's Gang performed...The lyrics contained the words,,The president on the dollar...George Washingtons his name...Was it on this same album.?...God the memories........Hey dad say hey to Mitch..RIP
I compile oldies crosswords and like to be as precise as possible when identifying the full name of artists credited with specific releases. For this 45, I know it's Mitch Miller & his "Sing Along with Mitch ?????????. Is the last word Chorus, or something else?
Thanks in advance for any feedback you can provide.
@OgilvieMike I think it's The Sing Along with Mitch Chorus now that u mention it. I still have this exact 45, but it's buried somewhere and I doubt if I could find it. I used to listen to it as a kid.
I remember all us kids being taken into the school assembly hall to learn this song. That was in the late 50s and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves singing our hearts out to this one. Another song we learned that day was "Soldier Soldier Won't You Marry Me?" Aah, fond memories there!
back in the early 60's , we had the original mitch miller album in my third, fourht, fifth and sixth grade class room....i remember everytime about this time of the year we would play that record ....
OMG my mom's record was bright Red but almost looked just like this one. I was 3 when she use to play this record all the time for me. It had Bridge over the River Kwai on the other side. I loved that record--still have it(dug it out to look up these songs)
I'm 71 and remember hearing Burl Ives do it on his old radio program, late 40's, but Mitch Miller made it a hit. Glad to have been around for both of them.
Yeah, this song brings back one of my earliest memories of when I was in elementary school more than forty years ago! We used to sing it in the auditorium, but even then I wanted the words to rhyme better than they do. Send your battered dreams to heaven. Roll on.

There were two hit versions of this, one by Mitch Miller, the other by Cyril Stapleton (with the children from "The Inn Of Sixth Happiness").

From the 1958 Movie "The Inn of the Sixth Happiness" starring Ingrid Bergman and Curt Jurgens. The movie is based on a true story.
Thanks for posting this.
