Being the stickler for authenticity I love this car. Think I'd just put the stock tail light beazels on rather than those bullits. Gotta love this 56.
Beautiful car. This is something from an era when cars were automobiles. They had substance and style. Cars were made to be unique. You could look at a car and tell what it was. Now somebody makes something new, and everybody makes a copy.
In 1956 I bought a '56 Vic with the 312 mill and 4bbl carb. It was fast on top end but the 57 Chevy with the 283 stovebolt engine that I traded it in on was faster in the 1/4 mile. But the Ford was a better car overall, If I could get one of them back today I would take the Ford. At the same time my girlfriend's dad had a 56 Dodge D-500 that had clocked 130 on the sand track measured mile at Daytona and she never let me forget it. What memories I have, of good old days and good old cars.
@natesperloen may I ask you a question? i bought a 56 victioria and I cant realize wether its a 292 or a 312. I says like yours thunderbird v8 on its sides, all victorias thunderbirds had a 312? I want to kwnow without opening the engine but I havent figure out yet how!!! thanks for your time, I hope mine looks likers some day!
Oh, i just say a add in the swedish cragslist, that a black and white Ford Fairlane Victoria 292 Thunderbird is being sold for 19500$. Im only 18 with no work.. Life is tough.O' boy i wish this car were in my hands.
when I was a kid my aunt in Indiana had one of these...same "exact colors". I always liked that car and thought it was really cool. Unfortunately by the time I actually had a drivers license and enough money to buy a car one of these was too old and impractical to own (for someone that was not good at fixing cars)
VERY Nice car ! I do like the tri 5 fords ! My brother had a 57 ford 2 d post custom ; had 312 from 58 merc turnpike cruiser wagon . A friend of his had a new 383 road runner & the 57 ford would run with it . neither could outrun the other !
Oh the memories! I had a 1956 Ford 4 door hardtop. Yes they did make them! And yes it was green and white just like this one. The rear end went out 50 miles from home in 1966 and I junked it. Oh well!
120? actually 135 plus. my dad said he could hang the speedo needle almost straight down. he had a 56 2dr/ht -292 3/tree. mabey more if he had the road to do it. what those chevy-biased magazines didn't mention much is that y blocks had tons of natural torq to pull the tall gear due to their long-stroke. most new v8's are going back to small cu in/long stroke config's. this is the world's most cheated-out car. also the most perfect
@crzynorv I learned to drive in a 57 Fairlane with a 292 Y-block, three speed manual, manual steering, non-power drum brakes. You had to pay attention and leave yourself some romm. Those drum wern't near as efficient as todays 4 wheel disks. Those were the days!!
Umm take a look at the year of this vehicle...it's a 1956 Ford lead sled. It takes true power to move iron, not plastic. Oh ya I've also got a 58' chev that will go 140. And its 50 years old.
Many American cars of the late 60's/early 70's could do 158 on a regular basis.Newer Corvettes and Vipers do 187 plus.Yes,a small number of Japanes and European cars go even faster, but what's the point?
Nice car. So stylish and chromed up.
