It's obvious that it means a lot to him. And who's wearing it now? Look at 0:14. Mukuro. Isn't that enough proof that he feels strongly about her?

I used to really like HieixKurama but now, I feel that they're more like best friends. Meanwhile, Hiei and Mukuro have both expressed strong feelings for each other. I mean, look at Mukuro's face here! And their last scene in their match in the Makai tourney! Even dense Kuwabara is sensing something (in another bonus animation, he hints about them and Hiei actually reacts quite seriously). They have a lot in common and not to be pervy, but I bet they have epic SM sex together. XD

@Blackdrive44 that depends on how you interpret it..actually, about 99% of fanfictions of YYH are about hiei's and kurama's lives as lovers... you can rarely see fan fictions of YYH without it... i've read that the author intended to show that they are lovers but he was warned by the editor, so he concealed that bit in the story... so it is very much more likely that hiei-kurama relationship is true..

as i could remember from the anime, kurama was the first person to become a true friend to hiei

yea, I remember reading an interview on Yoshihiro Togashi, where he said that originally Kurama was supposed to be female and that her and Hiei where supposed to be together. In the end though he said his editor scraped it, something about losing its target audience....so he changed Kurama into a guy.

@Blueutopiah Yes, Togashi Yoshihiro wanted to makke them a couple at first from what I know, but changed his mind and made them best friends. But yeah, in the last few episodes theres this kurama-punning-on-hiei's-sexua­l-interests-scene. =D Its so great!

...Um, this is way late to say, but I like how everyone points out the fact that the plant is Chiyou (Mukuro's father) and how everyone argues about the state of Hiei and Mukuro's relationship. And that one about the placement of Mukuro's hand- awesome. Just halarious to me. (And for the record, I'm more than just okay with that pairing but you get this feeling more like commaraderie just watching the show.)

sometimes the anime is different then the manga. Look at Inuyasha and Bleach they had to add fillers and change some stuff so that the animators can keep up with the manga...

It has nothing to do with what I think. The editor for Shonen Jump at the time was extremely heavy-handed, and since all of the manga had to pass through him first, it was really up to that particular editor how the stories went. The editor's job is to make sure there's nothing in the story that could harm sales, so if he thought something would turn off readers, he eliminated it. (This editorship led to the end of Slam Dunk and DragonBall, as well as to YYH's abrupt ending.)

Its the man that first sold Murkuro as a sex slave when she burned herself to escape. Hiei found him and poisoned him into a plant and gave it to Murkuro for her birthday so she could torture him without killing him.

As I heard it, when Togashi wrote the first draft Hiei and Kurama were meant to be lovers. His editor warned him that it would turn off male readers, so Togashi took out a lot of the shounen-ai. Even though the obvious stuff was removed, you can still see bits of Togashi's original intent in the story (for instance, when Hiei wakes up after his fight with Bui the first thing he sees is Kurama). No, those weren't accidental hints.

In the fifth installment of Dancing Feather's "The Most Sexist Fanfic You Will Ever Read" he gives a very good answer for why Togashi dodged the question about Hiei and Kurama's relationship: "To say yes would have all of his homophobe fans ditch the story regardless how much they liked it before hand. To say no would lose all of the heterophobes in his fandom." A no-win situation, so the only thing Togashi could do is say "Well, that would be interesting wouldn't it?" Not a yes, not a no.

Mukuro looked unhappy in this video. Could it be that Hiei rejected her? During the birthday chapter, it seemed to me that Hiei's actions were more like what you'd do for a friend, or maybe a boss you're fond of. Kurama seemed oddly interested in Hiei's relationship with Mukuro though...jealous maybe? Tsk, I think at this point Hiei's not ready to settle down and have a love life, with Mukuro or Kurama or anyone else. Give him a few years, he'll calm down and figure out what (and who) he wants.

As much as I hate female anime sub-characters as much as the next fangirl, I'd have to disagree with you about Mukuro. She's got balls that I admire and she kicks ass. And she's not whiny nor over-dramatic with her character. And dude, you've got no say in whether Mukuro and Hiei have some sort of relationship going on or not. There is also an area of the manga, I can't remember which one, but he goes off to find the man that put her through hell. He gets a plant from Kurama and uses it to ensnare that sob. He then gives her the gift as a birthday or should I say "rebirthing day". He's got a great code and would never desert those close to him.

That was Hiei's bday present to her in the last book (albeit a twisted present-but I guess it fits thier style)-which is kinda the same significance as Hiei breaking her shackles as him doing what he can to help her. Seeing in Eizou how she still has it too lol even though that wasn't brought up in the anime, I love details like that, this is great!

Thank you once again for posting this! I have to say I agree with KatoKathy. I've never seen their relationship as a really love kind of thing, more of a brother sister realtionship, but everyone has their own thoughts and own ideas. Though I don't really like how Mukuro is in this OVA. I understand that she has much pain from her past and that whether in a brother and sister relationship or in a love relationship Hiei helped her, but I think she'd be stronger than that.

I don't think I could ever see it like that. Even the manga-ka didn't, in an interview I read. He intended Hiei to be with Kurama, but only took out the most obvious signs at the warning of his manager, who thought it would reduce the shounen-appeal.

Well sure he likes her, but not in THAT way perse. The way I see it, they're def. not 'in love' with each other. I always thought she was more of a mother figure. Although it does pretty much look like Mukuro has feelings for Hiei but it seems one-sided.

I believe it was because Hiei asked what Mukuro REALLY looked like under 'his' mask. And she said 'do you really want to know?' and since he defeated Shigure she stripped to let him see her completely. That 'she' is not a 'he' and half her body is destroyed, which is why she didn't reveal she's a woman.
