  • Someone who knows HEART. Thanks Mark, for everything you do

  • How have they gone / Fell by leather / So alone / Bound together / Benny "kid" Paret came a good way / Climbed to the grey sky to raise his hands / Stopped by the better man / Eyes of Los Rios cry for suns / Lost on distant shores, unforeseen horrors / struck and delivered him / How have they gone / Fell by leather / So alone / Bound together

  • Salvador Sanchez arrived and vanished / Only twenty-three with so much speed / Owning the highway / Mexico City bred so many / But none quite like him sweet warrior / Pure magic matador / Pancho Villa would never rest / 'Til 1925 he closed his eyes / 'Til Manilla stars would rise / Gozo of the Phillipines, choirs and angels sing / Ukelele strings play for his legend / Italy had a king /

  • I love all his studio stuff and all his alternate versions!

  • the koz <3

  • There used to be a video on YouTube of him playing Lost Verses during this set. Anyone know where to watch it?

  • i was at this show. it was incredible.

  • @imonlysleepingg hey me too. The RHP show at the Cactus Cafe Austin in 95 or 96 was the best.

  • a lot of bands have played there. nothing to do with religion

  • I saw him play at the Grand Union Chapel, London in summer 2007. Probably the same kind of vibe as this clip. One of very few quasi religious experiences of my entire miserable 39 years of existence, seldom felt & never forgotten.

  • Seein him again 2moro night in Dublin, cant wait.

  • Just out of curiosity why is he playing at a church?

  • SXSW will be in every kind of venue, churches, museums etc

  • cuz he is the man!

  • I cant hear this song without braeking into tears...Fuck.

    Sweet Warrior, Pure Magic Matador

  • sweet warrior,pure magic matador :)

  • Could I be know a title of this song?

Would anyone let me know a prior one, not an after one 'rock and roll singer' ?

  • The title of the first song is Salvador Sanchez...it's the same version as the one that appears on the Ghosts of the Great Highway album

  • No, it's not the same version... not at all

  • i saw him last year in asheville, nc. his performance was hypnotic. this was the only show ive ever been to and sat down but i would have to say its the best ive ever seen.

  • goto sad reminders web site... click on resources and goto the 'funhouse' tab site for tablature of kozelek songs

  • is that what he looks like nowadays? just like some dude youd see at home depot... i love mr K! rhp forever..

  • thanks for providing this video. kozelek is the best!

  • is he using a capo on his guitar? or is that just regular tuning?

  • Kozelek typically uses open tunings. I think "Salvador..." is CGDGCE, or something like that.

  • I agree, I wish there were more musicians in the world like Mark Kozelek! I respect his music and so what if he can't play because he's sick, it happens, get over it!

  • Bollox to all the haters, mark is a fantastic musician and seeing him play live was one of the gigs ive ever been to,its a shame hes pulled out of shows but if he didnt feel up to it probably better off than putting on a sub par performance really.

  • Mark did the right thing cancelling the show and not flooding the small venues he plays at with germs since his concerts are very intimate. Most the musicians who play sick and never listen to their bodies are the ones who end up dying like Janis Joplin, Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Mama Cass Elliot, Elvis, Bon Scott, Kurt Cobain, Shannon Hoon, Layne Staley. Whether it's a sickness like the flu or drug use, they don't need to play and entertainers don't owe you anything.

  • i wish i could find some sort of tablature for this.

  • i love mark's vibrato. awesome!

  • Anyone know if he's going to be in California again?

  • Mark Kozeleks lyrics speak to me

  • Yeah, he probably got sick just to spite his fans in Pittsburgh.

    FFFFAAARRTTT NOOOIIISSEEE.

He's actually great with his fans. I saw him in Rochester, NY and we were right up front, and he would chat with us while he tuned his instruments. And HE actually started the conversations. Pretty cool dude, if you ask me, definitely not a jagoff.

  • Have you ever called to work sick?

    no..of course you havent.

  • Shut up, man. He's doing YOU a favor by even offering the shows.

  • Mark Kozelek, the voice of an angel :)

  • I'm glad I could find this. Thanks for uploading this!

  • It's always a pleasure seeing Mark Kozelek live, and the acoustics were great at the church. Retribution Gospel Choir really rocked the spirit too.

  • yay, I was at this show. The church acoustics were perfect for this set.

  • What tuning is he using? Can someone tab this?

  • Magnificent, a true american master whose body of work CRUSHES most of our "revered songwriters" Go ahead, buy everything, absorb it, see the truth, get back ta me

  • Amen to that brother.

  • respect, best songwriter been around forever still never blown up to the pop media

  • yep...you said it all

  • Salvador Sanchez arrived and vanished Only twenty-three with so much speed Owning the highway Mexico City bred so many But none quite like him sweet warrior Pure magic matador Pancho Villa would never rest 'Til 1925 he closed his eyes 'Til Manilla stars would rise Gozo of the Phillipines, choirs and angels sing Ukelele strings play for his legend Italy had a king
