  • @BlackFolkAndPiano, Because Zac is the long lost 4th Jonas Brother. And he's dating Miley Cyrus.

  • @BlackFolkAndPiano, because Zac is in fact the long-lost 4th Jonas Brother, and is dating Miley Cyrus.

  • @hornpypr, No one deserves that fate!

  • You guys sound great. I really like the guitar playing!

  • @spgokc78, thanks, man!:)

  • Sweet! Good groove going there. Loved it.

    Thanks.

    M.

  • DUDE i just bought the best app for my phone today...its called tube droid and it lets me download youtube videos as mp3's for free....you best believe all your vids here on youtube are going into my phone. I hope ya dont mind, if ya do ill send some money to ya over paypal if ya want it.

  • @usmcboi13, Sure, feel free to download them as long as it is only for your own personal use. No selling the Mp3s, etc. Thanks for asking first!

    Zac

  • @Legertymusic confession!! they've been on the mp3 player in my car for months now! my favorite i think is the one with you and stephen doherty on the low D whistle... any chance you'll be playing in eastern canada anytime soon?

  • Is that a Kirk Lynch chanter? Do you make your own reeds? Sounds great!

  • @Kgilstrap1, yes, Ben and I both play Lynch chanters and use Kirk's reeds (in fact I own this particular reed now, it is awesome and no, you can't have it! lol). The man is a genius, what can I say? All the best,

    Zac

  • crazy good! i really like the spike island lassies.....ive been playing the box no for about 7 years now nd for the past 3 have been dying to get my hands on a set of practice pipes and this video has reminded me to make sure i do!

    5 stars

  • Really enjoy the music. Thanks for posting.

  • top video again guys! cheers! looking forward to more posts!

  • I know I've already commented, but I just watched it again. Holy BALLS you guys can play.

  • Thanks, Alex. You are not so bad yourself! Cheers, my friend.

    Zac

  • 1:00 nice variation! you're incredible!

  • Cheers!

  • Hey, friendo. :)

Sounds great. Do you use a good mic or just using the mic built in to your camcorder? Or is a webcam / PC mic combination?

  • I believe w were using using Ben's MacBook for this video, and just going straight to the computer's built in mic. So far I have gotten pretty good results just going straight to my digital camera or through a computer. At some point I will get better mics and recording equipment, though. Thanks for watching!

  • hi there, can you give me the chords of the first tune? many thanks

    michele

  • Are you using dropped d on guitar in all of your tunes? it sounds amazing! i may think twice about changing to dadgad, after hearing this.

  • Hey epiphone06, I use both tunings (and others from time to time as well). DADGAD and drop-D both have their advantages and disadvantages, depending on what you want to do. It is worthwhile to learn both. Double drop D is nice as well.

  • Those tunes work great great together, nice set. And speaking of sets, who made Ben's set of pipes? They have a fantastic sound, not too brassy and not too mellow.

  • Kirk Lynch.

  • Hey guys, I am a bagpiper from Brazil. You ROCK.

  • Cheers, mate. Thanks!

  • Beautiful set Zac! I agree about the album. Keep up the great tunes!

  • I have to say that you two are amazing. You should make an album ?

  • Thanks! At some point, maybe. Hard to find time as Ben is a big name in the classical music world and I am on the road playing music a lot. Hopefully a demo out this fall anyway. We'll keep you posted.

    Zac

  • Well played Zac and Ben!

  • I haven't heard of Ben Jaber. Where did this guy come & learn from? He's got great rhythm and technique.

  • I agree! Ben is mostly self-taught and has only playing trad music for about 4 years. Great flute player as well. He has my old Olwell flute. In his day job, Ben is the principal French Horn player with the San Diego Symphony. One EXTREMELY talented dude!

  • Sounds great, lads!

Any particular reason you pulled the pickguard on the 28, Zac?

  • I have never liked the look of the solid pick guard on a guitar. The way I play, the pick never touches the top of the guitar anyway, but I will probably add a clear pick guard sometime soon. I prefer to be able to see the all the wood of the top. I think it looks cooler that way. Strangely enough I like the look of the "batwing" pick guard on my Foley bouzouki. Go figure!

    Zac

  • Well...my Lakewood is a D - 20 and I don't know if he still makes that model. Don't ask me about the woods. I bought it about 20 years ago just for the looks of it, and now I really appreciate the sound.

    Michael

  • Hey Zac!

Congrats to the new guitar! Sounds great!

    Michael

  • Fabulous as always Zac. And personally, I think your hair is fine. You're one of those people where it doesn't matter what you do with your hair, you always look good.

Ahh, summer vacation, mine shall consist of a classroom and lots of homework (good 'ole college in the summer).

I look forward to your next video.

  • Thanks everyone for all your kind words...we certainly do have a grand time playing together for you! Qristina and Quinn, I'd be honored to come play with you guys! :)

  • Very nice guys.. you two could do this blindfolded in your sleep.. wow!

  • The new D-28?? If so, it sounds great!! Great playing by you both!!

  • Yep! It is the D-28's YouTube debut;)

  • That was great! Fantastic playing.

  • OK, Ben will you please come to Victoria BC soon? We're planning a concert in September and we'd love to have you play with us! Zac, you can come too!

  • Gee, thanks! Glad I can come, too! Lol. - Zac

  • Anytime!

  • fabulous set! awesome playing you guys!

  • And Ben is awesome too. You guys are unbelievable.

  • Lovely tunes. Zach, your playing captures the spirit of Doylian guitar perfectly... if not for the video, I'd swear it was the man himself! You rock.

  • Lol. Cheers, Alex! You are very kind.

    Zac

  • How difficult was it to learn the Uilleann pipes? There soo amazing, are they different than bag pipes?

I love all the music you guys do, im always in awe. :D

  • Very different, very difficult, but extremely rewarding, is the short answer.

  • haha. Oh i bet its rewarding, its such a awesome instrument! :]

  • WOW, just great!
