The evil RTA keeps on claiming 'due to public demand' more E-Only lanes (ie. less cash lanes) will be available on the Harbour Bridge to make traffic smoother - well they've now whittled the cash lanes down to 2 (& only 1 during morning peak!)- because they are forcing Sydney drivers to carry electronically identifying tags which deduct tolls from your account as you pass by.The RTA has never asked me what I think. I prefer to use cash - but after January 2009 - no more cash booths! RTA is evil.
The motorway network has become the scourge of Sydney - Too expensive & motorcycles pay the same as a huge 4WD!!!. Signage is misleading & deceptive on approaches, making you think that the only way is via the tollway. On the Gore Hill Freeay, the signs say that to 'Epping' is only via the horrible Lane Cove Tunnel with Toll - the original surface road is signposted as 'Lane Cove', when it too will take you to Epping - for free! - Plus there is no cash option! "I will not be tolled!"
Almost forgot the M5 all of it needs to be 3 lanes in each direction from Mascot all the way to Narellan road and 4 lanes in each direction from M7 to Raby Road)
Widening the freeway actually costs more because while you widen the road you create inconvience for the drivers as they past slowing down the traffic in narrow roadworks, so just build the freeways, etc 3 lanes in each direction to start with to solve the problem!!!!!!
Quite frankly the Central Coast {where I live} has traffic snals on Terrigal Drive, Avoca Drive, Central Coast Highway (was the Entrace Road), the F3 Freeway and the Pacific Highway. I would consider moving to Melbourne in the nearest future. The VIC Government ROCKS!!!!!!! NSW Government; SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!!!
they do not have any traffic problems, well nearly anyway (you can not stop traffic jams completly - But you can lesson the impact on them) since when they build their freeways/expressways/tollways or motorways (whatever you call them) are a minimum of 3-4 lanes in each direction [when they get built mind you] and the fact it is a very well planned city mind you!!!
All freeways, etc need to be a MINIMUM of three lanes in each direction 3 to sopport the needs of the traffic for 25 years down the track anyway for planning! Why do Sydney siders / With a population of just over 4 million put up with this stupidity and mess? > When by the way Melbourne (population just under 4 million and I do not hate Melbournions)
I LOVE SYDNEY!!! (ILS) I lived on the Central Coast for 2 years now, but the NSW Government is cheap just building two lanes each way at the time of building freeways, etc (when you need to widen it anyway 5 years later; for example the M4)
Yes, the M5 East is a joke! Try to go on it to the city in the morning. Why they made it two lanes instead of four is the stupidity of the NSW Government.

I think our Government needs to be shown how to construct a motorway network underground the way Boston did.
They kept the colonial style by digging under the city and it works.
Not only that, but what about more rail and safer roads for our regional electorates and better hospitals too?
No, our government is wasting our money on ways to try and steal more off us and to dictate us too.
