STUPENDO! This is simply amazing: one should realize all the progress made in terms of diction and acting by DJS. The voice is HUGE and the projection is stunning. This is an Adriana of the first rank, UNEQUALLED. And what a great production, with beautiful costumes/jewelry. And DJS LOOKS SUPERB. We miss you so much. I will publish a short bio of DJS on Internet. Many fond memories of one of the greatest GRANDE DAMES of the 20th century. Love for eternity. RIP
ESTO ES UNA INTERPRETACION DE OPERA TOTAL...DIVA ABSOLUTA....PRESENCIA INDESCRIPTIBLE.......IMPONE SOLO VERLA..........SUS MOVIMIENTOS SON INDESCRIPTIBLEMENTE ALUCINANTES............CANTA SOLO HASTA CON MOVERSE.
Now, there her diction is perfectly clear and her dramatic emphases as good as a number of other verismo divas. Still, she is a bel canto singer in the very sound of her voice. Bravissima, Dame Joan! Rest in peace! (She does look so lovely--carefully styled. Nowadays a lot of divas with messy hair, ungirdled belly, and wearing an underslip.)

Most people really do not know the difference between good or bad acting when the medium is fine arts. It is annoying. No person ever went to see Sutherland act. She did fine, but she knew that they came to hear her voice and she gave it to them. They never went home disappointed. That disappointment is only for armchair critics. Today most singers can neither sing nor act. They confuse more flailing about with acting. This piece was fun to watch.
I don't see much to criticize here. The diction could be better, but the monologue is heartfelt and it is well placed. I actually think she did quite goon in this section.
That's Grand Opera! Your hopelessly biased feelings toward Tebaldi are not valid.
I saw Tebaldi and Corelli in this opera, and they were great, but Sutherland had the stage presence and voice to make this scene work well, undeniably.
Sometimes on my videos I just disable comment rating if someone comes along and rates down everyone's comments. brividokaldo should do that too because no one has said anything offensive or anything.
The costume is great! She had some great costumes in this production...except for the final scene. I never liked the way she looks in the final scene. I think the portrays the drama very well and I love her facial expressions. Someone people may argue about how good her diction is...but I won't.
bella interpretazione però la "t" americana non si può sentire!

Absolutely BRILLIANT! Best thing I've seen so far this year! And please tell me that they re-used that costume for the Queen of Night.

wow the wig and make-up make here look quite younger than she actually is in this clip, she looks like 49 again but when in fact she was 58

el monólogo está cantado con una delicadeza y elegancia fuera de lo común , con las suficientes dotes teatrales. toda una diva sobre el escenario.
elegancia, finura y moderado talento dramático. dicción aceptable.

Brava! All those who think she was not an actress should see that. All my friends who heard her live told me how dramatically powerful she was.
How kind of you to share this priceless document with us, you're very kind.

What you say is true, but the haters will never admit that Sutherland could act.

Reading my comment above, I hardly see what can have inspired anyone to put it down.
Some people here could use a preach in manners.

That's really strange. I remember your comment and I don't why it was rated down. By the way, I love Sutherland's acting in this scene too.
