Does this remind you a bit of "Could switching to GEICO really save you 15 percent or more on car insurance?" I would love to see him be the new spokesperson for GEICO. :D
I'm soo weird for thi, but I got a little bit excited when he said my name. Well, he kind of said my name, it just had a different meaning and it was plural. x)
And going on with what people said, there are quite a few people in here that are Doctor Who related as well! :D
I've never heard of 'Collision', but DT makes it sound like the most interesting must-see TV event of the year. There's a good chance his introduction is more dramatic than the show itself. ;-)
I saw this commercial when I was watching pbs with my mother and I jumped up and down screaming and my mom was like, "What?!" and I said, "It's the Doctor!" and she said "Doctor Who?" I swear. Haha!! She had no clue xP
Well, that may also be true for everything. Both the word and the meaning of the word. :P
It's been bugging me each time I watch one of these little Masterpiece thingies! I've been going, "Hmm, something's different..." No sideburns! Can't believe it took me so long to put my finger on it...hehe. :D
Even though he probably recorded these in the UK (I don't know where he did) I'm loving that we have this little piece of DT regularly in the States... How many more MC movies will there be? I don't want these to stop. I'm even watching them and they're good. I really loved Endgame.
A highway? Since when did we British call a motorway a highway? Shame on you David your presenting a British drama , I would have insisted it was called a motorway and the USA would have found out what we call them.
aahhh, Liza. He's doing it the American way, luv. we call it a highway... when in Rome... y'know. I know it must sound strange to you huh? I'm sure it was strange to him to say it probably... I love knowing he has to say something that I say regularly... tickles me.
Don't blame DT for the writing. And remember this is being presented to American audiences as an introduction. We Yanks will get the motorway reference within the presentation.
if you are hosting a show on American TV you need to make it understandable to your American audience regardless of where the show you're introducing originates.
I had never heard the term 'motorway' until i saw the DW Gridlock ep.
idk... As an American, perhaps we don't hear the term "motorway' unless we are watching British television...but I think almost everyone would be able to figure out what people are talking about. If not then they probably aren't going to enjoy watching British television or PBS in general.
Okay, you get that A) David did not write the script , and B) this series is an AMerican PBS series and therefore he is speaking to Americans and should use the proper vernacular.
Thank you! I woke up this morning thinking about DT cos I missed this last night, well, that and I'm just generally obsessed LOL. And somehow wound up thinking about that rather filthy line from Secret Smile as I made cinnamon toast. I think that line and his "Thank you" here are my 2 fave lines of his LOL
If I'd heard this on TV, yes, I'd've sent in a donation to PBS right away.
