I bet after he gets done blowing on the tuba he gets that sexy Mary Lou to blow on something else.......and something else besides music comes out there!!
haha well i'm 17 and this video is just hilarious to watch.. i remember watching lawrence welk reruns with my grandma as a child. i just think it's funny now
Richard was my reading instructor at MI "BIT" 91'-92'. He was a neat guy and was very patient. Definitely an inspiration that I will never forget. I recall he played the Tuba at Knots Berry farm as well.
Rich and Mary Lou are still married to this day! He has appeared on many of the Welk show wraparounds aired on PBS...and continues to perform professionally as a musician, plus has appeared in local productions of the play "Forever Plaid"
Richard was my ear training teacher in school. We started the class with 30 people and finished with 3. He had some "interesting" ideas about sound to say the least. I thought he was great and very weird in a cool way. He taught me how to "see" sound. He has a dry and witty sense of humor too.
Several scientific studies in the 1960s confirmed that watching the Lawrence Welk show caused a 5 to 10 point drop in IQs.

My mom had this song on a 45 and whenever she played it my sister would point at her ass and yell "and it comes out here".

The mouthpiece on the toba is about the size as a trombone mouthpiece

@thejedi9makisi It's actually a Conn 2, about the same size as a normal tuba mouthpiece....

I have played on a mouthpeice similar to that. They feel so small. I think that one is an "Olds" Mouth peice.

Richard is the fellow who inspired me to take up the tuba. Anyone know what happened to him? He certainly found a dish for a wife.

Now, where exactly does the music come out? I'm still trying to figure out where to apply Head On. I prefer Curly Howard's version.

you cant say a tuba makes only farting noises if you dont know what you're talking about. tuba can go as high as it wants to.

Nothing says "Romance" like the bellowy, farty sounds of a tuba. The giddy look on her face tells me she's either in denial, or "medicated."
For me, this clip is the opposite of "Viagra." Well, except for the "you blow through here" part...
Thanks for sharing this hilarious (and HORRIBLE!) clip!
