  • hello everyone,

so it seems like the new youtube just keeps updating stuff everytime, and now there's no way to find the "groups" option where you can go and post your music and get feedback. So I hope I'm not bothering anyone with this comment, but I'd like to get some feedback on this song. I'm still working on it.

    watch?v=D83a5hJRHTc

thanks in advance!, just copy and paste the link above, if it doesn't work, just go to my channel and click on the song "yesterday". thanks again!

  • sounds like Oasis, U2 and Verve !!!

  • @drbilalrizvi I hate Oasis. I like U2. I love the Verve. The three of them together make a beautiful sound in Exit Calm.

  • Jesus, where the hell have I been?

  • awesome.fantastic.

  • What a great sound

  • hmmmm the verve number 2???!!!

  • This sound has been gone from my life for too long, marvelous.

  • @blzbug242

    me too mate

  • @yearofacceleration NOBODY'S TALKING!?!? What are you smoking dude? Most of the comments are from '08 because that's when THIS single came out. The album is immense and tyhey are packing EVERY house they tour. One of their tunes was just used in a feature film trailer , were hand-picked by Liam Gallagher to headline his Pretty Green club night and they're being touted in many critical circles as the saviors of the British Indie movement. America is waiting and the response will be huge!!!!

  • 6 people have no taste in music whatsoever.....

  • Impact Verve had on music? One album and one song which is known worldwide; BSS. I love A Storm In Heaven and A Northern Soul, but barely anyone who wasnt on the indie scene at the time knows anything about those albums, as great as they are. Exit Calm are being talked about, on the indie scene. A few mainstream magazines have wrote features praising their debut album. Theyll never been as widely known as Verve, but blame that on the current mainstream music scene, its all about RnB + Dance.

  • @yearofacceleration, Then why are you listening and commenting here? .....(shakes head)

  • Cant wait for thursday its gonna be top

  • Love the guitars/effects but those vocals not so much.

  • I love the Verve, but this tune just put them to bed....

  • The Eye of the Storm in Heaven

  • A Storm In Heaven. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. I do like this group. The moment I heard them I pulled out my old Verve stuff out.

  • What a haunting melody and I found myself humming it over and over once I heard it a couple of times. Great little tune!

  • Just bought their CD..... I highly recommend it, even though I had to order it from overseas. I think we are going to hear more from this band.... I hope so!!

  • Early Verve.

  • Bound together with songs that date back to the Stone Roses and a touch of Bono's lyrical delivery this band's songs all sound the same with no variation in style. I think their style would be best suited in large cavernous areas.........

  • @himycatisdead, just discovered these guys, yours was the best description I've read to date. The brilliance is in the production, very few Producers can get it right for this wall of sound... by chance, Are you on LastFM? Look me up as Friend...(same screen name)

  • Mindblowing.

  • So this is what U2 would sound like if they made shoegaze

  • Mmmmmh my god ... What a confusion, what a constellation, what an unearthly take of musical breath, very very VERY great!!!

  • did anyone see them at Sundae on the Common on the 25th of July?? They were amazing...

  • sounds like The Verve with Bono instead of Ashcroft.

  • I pray and hope these guys come state side.

  • @overseasmoore There is no way that they will not seeing as someone has to fill the void of the departure of OASIS. God knows Liam doesn't seem to want to......

  • now this is quality, keep playing this all the time... its whats needed.. keep it coming, heard they are great live, gonna get the chance to see them soon..

  • Great band..... I see the Verve references, but then I thought A Storm In Heaven sounded a little lke early U2.... These guys also sound a little like that.... Really epic sound for an indie band... Its totally time for The Big Music again, it sure beats all those bands out there who just wanna sound like The fucking Libertines.... These guys are gonna be MASSIVE.

  • @monkeypilot23 Well, in some moments the Libertines are very very cool though, they are an exortation of a musico-social stream in time, they couldn't be Punk anymore since punk had already been invented, the problem is more, as you say, that in that time, too many bands wanted to sound like too many thinking they'd be cool that way, so too many got highly overrated (like the Hives, Coral and the likes). But at least garage punk has saved us from the diktat of fucking disco and fucking ABBAs...

  • Keep coming back to this ... gosh ... great great great!!!!!!! That's SOUL, mates!!!!

  • God melted in sound ... Gregorian Chant of the 21st century ... I become a cathedral ... Thanks for this music, boys. When do you come over to Switzerland, ye buggers? I mean, before we drown?

  • 10th june London....Then I will see if there the real deal or not!

  • Your sort of stuff is what we need (early verve fan myself) as someone else said, alot of your stuff ive heard could sit on a sorm in heaven....and thats a good thing to feel honoured about

  • what the world is waiting for! no more soft lads -coldplay- no more fucking "the" bands.proper old school indie!!!

  • this is 'storm in heaven' thru and thru. and Im shure if the band read this they'll buzz off the fact that people think this. its fucking awesome no matter what it sounds like!!!!!!!!

  • Great band...hope this year is their year! xx

  • Hearts and Minds out 03/05 (single), album out 17/05.

    Amen.

  • Conero08 there album (debut) is out in April, I'm familiar with their manager so yeah quite sure its Apr/May...look out!!!

  • I'm gonna sue! nah, they're ok, sound a bit like Starsailor...

  • i went to see these a while ago and was truely gobsmacked of what i saw, utterly transfixed by them!

the sound is nothing short of incredible!

  • Comment removed

  • @jcyoung13 its already 15 years too late!

  • Best band about at the moment. Can't wait for the album..

  • how ?

  • Epic song

what's there album called and where the fuck can i get it?

  • I can't figure out if this is a slick homage to shoegaze (the Verve in particular, obviously) or a complete rip-off.

I like it, but I...I'm torn.

  • I was told this sounded like A Storm in Heaven, and well... it does. But that's not a bad thing. :)

  • this band is awesome love this tune look forward to seeing them when they play over in manchester!!

  • Comment removed

  • Love it!

  • I can categorically confirm that Rob Marshall is not taking part in this comment section

  • Not heard of the 1970 Tim Buckley album, Starsailor? Wince. Starsailor (the band) are utterly shit mind.

  • Nice. Anyone know when an album is due?

  • Feb '10. Prepare to be blown away.

  • 2beadlehands! clearly has no idea what hes talking about! think he needs to take his head out of nick mCcabes ass and stop talking shit! excit calm are amazing and rob marshall the guitarist is immnensely good! even Nick Mccabe recognises this! not say macabe is shit but hes not on the same level as rob marshall! hes a genius!

  • fantastic!

  • absolute bullshit

rob marshall is a fucking amazing guitarist and McCabe is wank compared to him.

  • i agree at this point and time rob marshall is well in front of mccabe his playin on the last verve album was pretty average by any standards let alone mccabes. dunno how much of mccabes work u have heard but when he was in the same position as marshall(in an amazing youthfull band with inspirin musicians around him about to break) i personally prefer marshalls playin but u if u think mccabe was shit compared to him then i have to disagree. mmcabe is still amazin

  • Brilliant video, brilliant song. This band is gonna be mega. Saw them at the Polish Club in Barnsley earlier on this year, got the chance to spend a few minutes with the singer Nicky and he was a top guy. Down to earth, quite shy. It was an amazing gig, felt as if i was seeing something very special. Their appeal is universal too,as i list Metallica and Iron Maiden among my favourite bands, and i'm so excited about where they could go i cant put it into words....well,just one......BRILLIANT.

  • amen.

  • This is how Nu Gaze should sound.

  • Nick McCabe aint got shit on Rob Marshall........ fact!

  • I love"The Verve" but this band are almost a better focused early "Verve" (Storm In Heaven). Much more drive and great hooks. If i could make music it would sound like this.

  • Sorry boys - Nick McCabe is THE ONLY ONE!!!!!!

  • I wish they'd come to Seattle :(

  • and the guitarist (rob marshall)

has been to my house and ive shook his hand :D

  • these guys sound realy goood :)

  • easily,by a fuckin mile THE best live band in Britain.....i think the ''you will witness something that leaves you speechless and transfixed'' quote is the perfect way to describe the live Exit Calm experience.... :-)

  • hey does ulrich schnauss remix this song?

  • he doesnt remix their stuff hes producing the album, which is pretty much finished now.

  • Do u know if Longview's new album is out? He pretty much remixed all their songs

  • Its not out yet, its on its way, heard one of the tracks and its ace!

  • great!! I have 2 uploaded the two remixes longview - Will you wait here and can't explain on youtube! I'm sure the new album will be awesome! I also hope Schnauss also does another remix collection just like the one in 2006 which was Gold!!

  • Seen this band live twice, most recently at Moho, Manchester. If you love their trippy sounds and sprawling guitar riffs, you need to get to a show. They are outstanding, its like getting stoned by the power of music alone! If there's any justice, these guys should be massive soon :0)

  • saw Exit Calm supporting Sunshine Underground in Dunfermline the other night. Outstanding live, i would love to see them somewhere a bit bigger with better sound. I wouldnt say they are reminiscent of The Verve, they are pretty unique but i can see where people are coming from because of the spacey guitar riffs and big drum sounds. An epic sounding live band and emotional performance. worth commenting on anyway.

  • The music is a bit Verve derivative, but I still enjoy it a lot more than most other bands today.

  • I know the singer's mum. She makes me watch the video over and over again. Help me please!!

  • Best band I've heard in years!Their album is gonna be a classic.

  • This is amazing! When is the album out? Does anyone know? Where can I get some of their songs?

  • Seen these guys supporting Puressence in Manchester, the sound HUGE live!!

  • i know the guitarist actually and it irrates him that people say they are like "early" Verve they havent tried to catch the essense of any band they make there own music write there own songs and a good thing is theyre all down to earth really nice guys! iv heard alot of there music and trust me youve not heard anything yet! this band is awesome!

  • You can't listen to The Verve's early records and deny Exit Calm sounds similar. In their defense though, Exit Calm come as close to Verve's epic sound as anyone before them. Can't wait for the album.

  • does my head in when pepole say Exit calm are like/copying the verve! find me a song that sounds similar and ill agree with you silly idiots! this band is brilliant so talented!

  • I don't think anyone is saying Exit Calm ripped off any one song, and granted the vocal style between the two bands. The guitarist's is obviously a fan of Nick McCabe though, and songs like "All on You" have that slightly funky rhythm section reminiscent of The Verve.

  • verve are still going strong? get your head out of your arse. they're doing nothing apart from licking their wounds after a critically mauled failed, cash-in, come-back album. They've done nothing as good as Exit Calm since A Northern Soul.

  • okay okay the Verve may not be still going strong as it were, but they are still better than this band of rip-off merchants, I hate bands who just base their whole existance on copying other bands, or in this instance just one band.

No The Verve no Exit Calm.

  • Congratulations. Your spelling is almost as bad as your musical taste.

  • ha ha ha one spelling mistake, slap my wrists and send me back to school, merry christmas my friend

  • speaking as a big Verve fan myself, and having seen both bands live,i have to say, they're just nowhere near as good live as Exit Calm...if u think thats bullshit, see em for yourself!

  • Yeah they don't break up on Stage.

  • Sounds & looks lush ... nice1 gents

  • sounds starsailor trying to do the verve.

  • haha ... not at all true, but funny all the same

  • This has been done about 15 years ago. It was called The Verve. Anyway, it's good to see bands who re-create this sound rather than todays indie shit.

  • Nice action lads! keep it up!

  • U2 have NOT made a song this good in nearly 20 years - editing last post.

  • Sorry to say, it does hint at U2 a little bit and the voice is a tad Bono-esque, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. That said, U2 have made a song this good for nearly 20 years.

  • Absolutely awesome. Love this band!! xxxx

  • Hm. I love the band, don't go for the singer, though. Voice too scratchy and a bit Bonoesque. Beat me up! Beat me up! Oi!

  • Don't go for the singer, please tell me you are joking!!! Bonoesque my arse!

  • Exit Calm on TV!!

EC will perform some tracks and have a chat in the EMMA SCOTT of KERRANG RADIO FAME TV show thursday 30th October at 8pm on Sky Channel 180.

  • Saw Oasis last night, not slagging the Gallaghers but Exit Calm are musically miles ahead. Their music gets hold of you and shakes you about, the best fucking band in the world. Tx

  • puressence???

    fukin wet mate them lot

    standard, exit calm piss em

  • dont talk shite

  • I love this band! They need to come to the states!

  • They were fucking class again last in night in Blackburn.

  • love this video, love this band.beautiful sound and they've got passion in music.

worth seeing this band from Japan anyway.

    leigh gig was mega. X

  • This band are the ones, listen up people this is the future!

  • top band 2nd only to puressence

  • top 3 british bands,in no particular order Exit Calm,Puressence and Muse....and if Exit Calm don't hit the big time, then the british music industry is officially dead, completely fucked!

  • exit calm playing bar bliss in leigh tomorrow night!!!!xfm's gareth brooks dj-ing!

  • WTF, OMB THATS JUST AWESOME!

  • Best band in the country by an absolute mile!!! 2nd best is The Shaiyans...check them out!!!!

  • The Shaiyans are ace.... I would put them above EC, for being very funky if for nothing else, but both bands are really nice people too, down to earth!!

  • Easily the best new band in the UK! They are playing in Rugby, Midlands Friday 26th September. Its Exit Calms ONLY FREE ENTRY GIG on the national tour.

  • Caught them in Wakefield on Friday and Doncaster on Saturday. they are the best band I've ever seen. and I've seen radiohead, the smiths, the stone roses, REM, the flaming lips, verve, oasis, the chameleons, the bunnymen, sigur ros, talk talk, spiritualized and joy division.

  • Utterly phenomenal. The best band around bar non.

  • Greatest band in the country, without exception.

  • They need a singer

  • A singer? Great idea. Why not replace one of the most powerful, original and distinctive voices in music toddy with some limp, generic, fey, tweeney-toed effort? Dan Gillespie from the feeling perhaps. Or what a bout a performing indie monkey Ricky Wilson from the Kaiser chiefs?

  • Rob Marshall is f*cking genius!

  • Love is noise vs We are on our own

    says it all really

  • Can see the Verve comparison dude, but not so much with their newer stuff

  • i hope u mean "we are on our own" is much better than love is noise . its maybe the worst song the verve have done! but at the end of the day exit calm are how old? maybe between 20-25 the verve are pushin 40 their best days are over. from reading interviews and that 4 them it doesnt seem 2 be the case. ive read mccabe and simon jones declare 4th as their best stuff which is ludicrus? but in respect i think exit calm will produce a great album but i dont think theyl better storm in heaven!

  • Love is Noise is ONE SONG. Come on now.

Go listen to She's a Superstar.

  • best new band in britain by a fucking mile! in fact,by 10 miles....and just mesmerizing live!!!

  • Saw Verve very early in small clubs. Seen Exit Calm loads of times. The boys from Barnsley blow anybody I've ever seen away. Single of the Year. Fact.

  • I know exactly who the influence is for the guitar part at 46 sec and it isn't nick mccabe.

  • I'm intrigued

  • *hear

  • Anyone else here Star Sail in here?

"I'm calling out to you, can you hear my voice, am I getting through?"

    vs.

"Hello, it's me, it's me calling out I can see you. It's me, crying out, crying out are you there?"

Also, listen to the epic guitar part at 0:46 on this vid sound familiar?

Just to point out though, I'm not criticising, this band are the dogs.

  • yer def in the verses and def at 46secs, likewise im not critisin but its obviously not just a cooincidence.

  • Best new band in the country!!! One of the best live bands ive ever seen!!

  • The singer sounds nothing whatsoever like Ashcroft. and the guitarist is better than McCabe.

  • The singer doesn't sound like Ashcroft but that's not to say that they're not Verve'esque. Also, the guitarist — as much as I like his style of playing — has nothing on McCabe.

  • i agree, he sounds more like ashcroft on the first demos but hes come into his own now .he doesnt sound anything like ashcroft now . its early days but i think the guitarist has the potential 2 be as good as nick mccabe ,i play a similar style and i know that he couldnt make those sounds with just a delay pedal and a bit of revereb hes got an amzin setup and he knows how 2 get the most out of it like mccabe.but hes not playin stuff as amzin as mccabe did on storm in heaven just yet!

  • I've seen Nick McCabe and Rob Marshall play live at least a dozen times. Each. Both of them are absoulute masters of their craft, but the young 'un now edges it for me

  • cool, cant wait 2 see him play! a few people have said this better than mccabe quite a statement

  • McCabe is an absolute hero for me so I may be a little biased. It's early days though On She's a Superstar — Verve's 2nd single (not that most people listening to this would need that explaining) — Nick McCabe's playing is probably on a similar sort of standard on this song — Exit Calm's 2nd — single to Rob's. Much potential.

Kudos on the production though, I saw them supporting The Music in Wolverhampton back in June and the single seems to have their live sound captured perfectly.

  • i agree with all the comments about exit calm theyre great and way ahead of most of all the other new bands out there .the guitarist is brilliant. but it really pisses me off that in all their interviews and even on their myspace they list my bloody valentine/ride and spiritualised as their influences but its so obvious their main influence is the verve ,from the guitar and the drummin to the bass playin . i hate it when bands claim not to be influnced by bands they so obviously are .not guilty?

  • They actually sound more like the Catherine Wheel to me.

  • they sound fuck all like catherine wheel,i thought they were a bit wet...i think they sound like a ride round a luxurious washing machine.

  • they sound fuk all like catherine wheel, they were wet.

they sound like a ride round a luxurious washing machine with a pair of football boots with loadsa mud on them.dirty sound

  • C'mon man, every musician in the world....ever, is influenced by another musician. Do people mention skiffle when they say how good The Beatles were? Stop living in the past and and appreciate this superb band for what they are, the best sound around-end of.x

  • how am i livin in the past mate? .ive quite clearly said their good, u tell me u dont find it just a little bit strange they havnt mentioned the verve once. yes mate most bands are influnced by bands like the beatles and stones etc ,without bands bein influenced by other great bands ,we would still be bangin sticks together like in the caveman era, but ide respect them much more if when they got asked who their influnces were they said the verve/ride/my bloody valentine.great songs regardless

  • Fantastic loving it xXXx

  • Wow! Blow me away. Really one of the best sounds I have heard in years. These guys will be big.

  • Cool

  • NIce ONe!!

  • Genius!Haven't been that excited about a band in a long time!

  • I fuckin love these dudes!!!! Awesome x

  • Best band in the world bar none.

  • stunning. simply brilliant

  • Single of the year from the best band in the world

  • Fucking-A! Spectacular

  • the band of the future

  • fuckin ace lads

    Ciaran MBE

  • MBE are better in my opinion Ciaran, but love Exit Calm all the same. x

  • Mint

I have no time for another band at the moment

    They are gonna be huge!!!

  • Shit hot!! Cant wait to see you in Leigh on 25th!
