@S0N0RUS Well you might as well buy a good standard G router due to your G onboard wireless...you could buy an N router to give a bit more range but you wont get any faster speed... and then another optino is the disable your onboard and buy a N router and N usb adapter to plug into your laptop.

you can add a second router as a extender by plugging it in to 1 lan port (10/100/1000 lan, whatever you happen to use.

just disable the DHCP of the second router that you are using for extended wireless

I would say buy an old router and buy this router and compare their performance for the coverage, i would guarantee it's going to be the same. Just for ur information I had to deal with low end consumer type jobs where people scream their guts off when they find out their coverage is not what this guy said and what they read in the front. Nobody reads the disclaimers when they say all this is done based on theoritical coverage.

I have owned over 7 linksys products and I just recently as of last year switched to d-link and let me tell you comparing the two that Linksys sucks! Every wifi product ever made by linksys constantly needs to be rebooted to get it running again.

My D-link for 1 year has never been rebooted for any reason other than a weather storm related issue and is rock solid FAST!

The specs of computer aren't needed for choosing a router. All u need is PCI slot or usb port. I have the gaming router and it works well u will see nothing for pc gaming its meant for ps3 and xbox 360 when using wifi. to get the best speed get a N adapter.
