  • amazing playing! your bass sounds really nice! i was wondering how you put electric piccolo strings on an acoustic bass? thanks for the help!

  • too awesome not to sub. I gotta get me one of those.

  • Not big on the first section, but the rest is ace. Very Jeff Schmidt. Nice playing.

  • Dang dude -- this is great! Gotta hit subscribe.

  • do people only use their thumb for slapping or can u use more? it's hard to play fast by making my thumb go to different strings so fast.

  • Impressive!

  • OMG! You're so fast! Maybe you could make a tutorial video? Too bad the camera isn't good enough to capture all the movement.

  • Very nice!

  • sweeeeeeeeet playing! love the hat also.

  • this is so fucking amazing! you have to record and release some stuff!!!

  • unbelieveable, that ace man. well done

  • wow..thanks for making want to remove my video... got to give it up bruh..that's great

  • What in the hellllllll?? I really wish you would elaborate on the technique which you are using, because it sounds so incredibly amazing, I can't even fathom this right now, and I play piccolo bass every day of my life.

  • Hang on...

Albeit standard tuning i have that bass!!

seriously though that technique after the torn calus, any ideas what its called? Im very intrigued by it. Ive only seen it once before

  • It's kinda like an open hammer pluck, but intead of plucking you do an upstroke with your index finger, more like strumming a guitar. This might be similar to flamenco techniques? The pattern is roughly, rh slap, lh slap, rh slap, rh upstroke. rh means right-hand, lh means left-hand :)

    thanks for watching and commenting!

BTW I've seen Jeff Schmidt do this as well.

  • You're one of my favorite bass players on youtube thus far, i put you next to zander! (If you havent checked him out, definitely do that, (zanderzon)

I'm curious to know what your technique is on the last three quarters of this song, I know it will be extremely hard to explain in words. So dont worry about it if you cant think of how to express it haha.

  • Holy moly!

Man, you're fantastic. How long have you been playing? And where did you learn? Self-taught?

  • finally! a new video, and I'm so happy. you are above amazing and talented, love the melodies and techniques you pull off. someone give this a guy a record deal, a grammy, or something!

  • Hi resonant, you're great ...

  • whoa! that's fuckin awesome!

I have a doubt... what is a Piccolo Bass, what is the difference with the normal Bass?

    thank, and you rock

  • Thanks Jim,

I'm happy you like it. By the way your new one is wicked. Love the rhythmic percussive sound you're getting out of it. Oh and love the hat. :)

  • hell yeah bro...

  • I smell a Jeff Schmidt influence :)

    Great music

    Sean

  • Sure is! Jeff Schmidt is rediculified, one of the most creative piccolo bassists I've ever heard. It also doesn't hurt that he studied and is friends with Michael Manring.

Thanks again to everyone for watching and commenting

  • great :p !

  • amazing, as always... could you tell me what gauge are your strings?

  • The strings I'm using are D'Addario Electric Bass XL Nickel Wound Piccolo Bass, .020 - .052, EXL280

They play and sound very nice. I also tried the nylon ones by La Bella but they seemed to quiet for what I'm going for.

  • thanks! your always very clear

  • Nice. can you fit piccolo strings on regular size basses?

  • what a nice bright sound!

  • Great video as always. Come check out my music covers.

    Cheers!
