  • A friend who dearly cared about me showed me this song, it made me cry, and now i'm with her. Because now i know.

  • What movie is this from??

  • @TakeMeToTheWaters Charlie Kaufman's "Synecdoche, New York"

  • I cried too.

  • @orangeani because the song is written by the musical composer for the movie Synecdoche, New York, and he is a man, and it is a theme that the music and television that surround the central character of the movie are all about him. Quite fitting to the movie that it is a woman singing a song from a man's perspective, now that you mention it.

  • UGH

SHUT UP I DONT WANT TO HEAR ANY MORE

    I KNEW SOMEONE

    I KNEW HIM WELL

    SO DID MY DAD

    HE DIED

    AT 20

    I MISS HIM SO MUCH

    SO PLEASE STOP

    IM IN TEARS

  • Love.

  • And I want to fuck you until we merge into a Chimera, a mythical beast of penis and vagina, eternally fused, two pairs of eyes that look only at each other, and lips, ever touching, and one voice that whispers to itself.

  • Jon Brion is brilliant.

  • bealtiful music

  • Some one here has the sheet music of this wonderfull song???

  • This song is sooo depressive , I mean don't get me wrong I love it but it's very much depressing

  • This darn near made me cry at work. It's lovely! I like both the original and the Mayer Hawthorne rendition...nice!

  • Niiiiice !!!!!!

  • Must listen to Mayer Hawthornes cover of this song!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @berzerkrobot Cover? You mean original :P but it's all good.

  • @wickeddrummer13 No, Hawthorne did not write this song, Jon Brion did for the movie synecdoche, ny - hawthorne did a cover of it on his new EP that was btw comprised solely of covers. So I know it's all good ;)

  • @berzerkrobot I stand corrected :p

  • It is female singing and the lyrics are: I miss my little lid and wife... why's that?

  • Just beautiful

  • Lyrics by Charlie Kaufman. Sung by Deanna Storey.

  • 2 people are stupid.

  • Why in the world did this song not get nominated for an oscar?

  • Was that person singing a man or woman - coz a freakin' woman called Jon is just not right?!!

  • @MissEllaMaryCampbell ....it was written by Jon Brion, as is common in movie soundtracks, sung by another.

  • I was singing this song at work today after getting laid off earlier in the day...

  • this songs way to hard to sample .... i cant give up its too perfect to not sample.

  • @seanmurray90 please dont sample it

I enjoy sampling music, but certain songs are just too beautiful to be sampled

  • I love when they put cotton balls in the coffin.

But in all seriousness, that film made me hold my heart like a hand grenade. Boffo.

  • this movie moved me from the core, couldnt stop thinking about it for a long time. existencialist and profound, one of the best most artistic and beautiful films ever

  • love this song!! and the movie is brilliant too.

does anybody know who sings this?

  • Deanna Storey

  • written by Kaufman himself

  • can I ask about the lyrics, ''I miss my little lid and wife'' is it wrong typeing? or it should be "kid"?

  • You're totally right, it is "kid", my mistake, sorry about that.

  • This is nice, but you should all check out the posters profound version off Jack ***3 in Spanish---THAT is art eheh

  • Thanks for the words to the song--it is beautiful and simply, yet profound--I know nice cliches--but there it is:))

  • The lyrics are very beautiful, i have to put it on the video, simply beautiful :).

You're right, very profund. Beautiful song.

    Greetings

  • I saw this movie today at the cinema.,.. I can't get it out of my mind!!! Iy's a masterpiece. My favourite part is when Olive, his daughter, dies bcause the tattooed flowers on her body die. When she dies, one of the tattooed petals falls off her body. I downloaded the soundtrack immediately. The movie made me emotionally drained and charged - it's still in my head - I can't stop thinking about it. What do you think?

  • Well: im an author starting his own career so, that movie touched me deep inside. I mean, the quotes like "i wanna do something important while im still here", it just destroyed me (in a good way, cuz life is like that: a zen quote says "you born, you live and then, you die... ¡how beautiful!".

    Greetings.

  • You lucky one; im from México City so, this movie is not going to be realesed here, so i had to bought it from internet (there's no more swine flu made in u.s.a. by the way :))

And, i have never had a "favorite" movie... until now, "Synecdoche, New York" its a great excistencialist movie thath blows up and explores the "human spirit" very deeply.

  • *The fact that, he re-creates a fictional world inside a real world just because he needs an audience not only in his job but, in his life also... ufffff, bautiful movie.

  • wow!! same here saw it a month and a half ago, but it still remains in my mind. it made me happy as well as sad, and aware of many things about life, that scene with the tattoos is one of the best, but i totally broke down with the priest's speech, and in the end, when he dies. it did drain me, but i loved, it is like so much fantasy in it but also it is sooo real, or realistic!!

  • What a beautiful song...

  • Totally beautiful, and the movie!!!, oh my god, it is my favorite movie ever.

  • The movie is absolutely awesome. Kaufman really did an excelent job. This is the kind of movie that you can't never forget.

  • A movie you can never forget...that's a good way to put it. A few days after seeing it, I started coming back to it over and over, involuntarily, in day dreams. It gets in your head, for sure.
