is the stick that came in with the hrap sanwa? I heard its only the buttons that you would really just want to replace (even though it's not really necessary). Also is it easy to replace the buttons or the stick (i have really limited knowledge on this kind of stuff)?
That's a bangin' stick! I want one for my PS3, but I already got the TE, SE for the XBOX. The old lady would kill me if i dropped a duece on this and some sanwa parts. Can you put a sanwa stick in too??
this stick looks cool the black and green looks nice .. I was going to do somethin like this after watching this .. but with the madcatz TE stick with sanwa parts id now about £30 cheaper I'm just gonna get another of those .. nice vid tho
That's a cool mod. I thought the hori button on the ex pro could hold there own but it looks like I might need to invest in some sanwa's. Also i'm just curious since the LT and RT are the bottom button's does that mean you need to configure the buttons everytime you play or do can you mod the position of RT,LT?
You don't have to set your controls every time on any games I play. However, you can easily change the position of the buttons, but then the faceplate won't be accurate.
4 star video my friend. I have a question. How do I tighten the Stick in the HRAP-ex? I've had my stick since SFIV release day and the stick is getting "loose" (too many 360s). How do I tighten it up. Ive already opened the casing (my Computer tech blood :) and I see the screw at the bottom of the stick. Tighten that?
but in your video it says that you need a nut screwdriver to remove the top. so does that mean if we have the nut screwdriver we dont need to remove the bottom???
You need a regular screwdriver to unscrew the bottom plate, and then you use the nut screwdriver to unscrew the nuts underneath, which allows you to lift the top off like I did in the video.
I am having an issue. I am trying to swap my start/back buttons with obsf-24s but the qds seem to be soldered or glued in. I cannot remove them at all, the other buttons are easy to remove. I gave myself a cut across my thumb trying to wiggle them out, and used a knife edge/flat edge screwdriver, no luck. As I pushed the qds for the back button back up from what little they moved, the middle part of the button popped out and all that is left is the black box that holds the microswitches. WTF?
I opened up my HRAP EX, and attempted to swap the start and select buttons out. However, the qds seemed to be held in place somehow. I can easily remove them on the other buttons but the start/select are so tough to remove, I gave myself a cut across my thumb trying. As I pushed the qds back into place, the very middle part of the back button popped out and now it's an empty shell. I have no idea why I'm having this trouble, did they not want the start/select buttons to be mod?
thanks for the captions man i gotta buy me a 7mm screwdriver, and damn out of the box your stick looked pretty clean when i got mine it had all these airbubbles i dont know if im supposed to remove that protective film, all in all short but sweet vid
I ordered the real arcade pro ex a few days ago -- is it worth it to replace the hori buttons with sanwa ones? I mean, sanwa buttons are obviously smoother.. or so I've read, but is the benefit of having smoother buttons that detrimental to gameplay? For instance, do the hori buttons "lock up" and jam or anything? Or are they just stiff and having smoother buttons is nothing more than a preference? Thanks.
I only had the Hori buttons in for one day, but no, they didn't freeze up or anything like that. To me, it's just a matter of sensitivity. Now, in terms of longevity, I would wager that the Sanwa buttons will indeed stand the test of time better than the Hori ones.
I got mine from Amazon, but it looks like they're all sold out at the moment. It's called a Real Arcade Pro EX on the Xbox 360 and Real Arcade Pro 3 on the PS3, but they're both the same stick with different color schemes.
so you replaced the buttons with Sanwa but you kept the original Seimitsu joystick?

you didnt show how to remove and replace the buttons...
tips?

can you make a 360 work for ps3 without buying adapter that costs twice the price of the stick?

Hi Anax.! I have a question, do you know if the modding process for the hori ex2 is the same as this one? Or is the stick made differently?
Thank you in advance!
rastapreto 2 years ago
@rastapreto: it's made differently.

I was going to ask the same question! I want to mod my EX2 so bad!

Did you need to sand down the push button holes? Or did they fit with no problems?
blitzhalo 2 years ago
No sanding necessary. The snap-ins fit very snugly.

Darth48076 2 years ago
When you say loose, do you mean that the lollipop ball spins around? If so, it's supposed to. That screw at the bottom just holds the ball on top.
Anaxamander 2 years ago
When I mean loose, I mean the motion of the stick. Its not as tight as it once was. Spinning the stick in a 360 degree motion, that's what I mean.
Darth48076 2 years ago
There is a washer on the stick that is lose. You have to take apart the entire PCB, Krazy Glue the washer, then put it back together.
Anorudo 2 years ago
Do the snap-ons feel loose in the stick?
Mdroudian 2 years ago
No, they're tight as a drum. The only button that currently feels loose is one of the Hori buttons I left in there.
Anaxamander 2 years ago
what do you open first, top or bottom?? and do you have to open up both sides???
tuber52 2 years ago
Well, you take a plate off the bottom, which allows you to unscrew the nuts to remove the top.
Anaxamander 2 years ago
but in your video it says that you need a nut screwdriver to remove the top. so does that mean if we have the nut screwdriver we dont need to remove the bottom???

so there are another set of screws underneath the metal panel at the bottomw ???

wait do you have to open the bottom or the top of the arcade stick???

I did notice that the start and select buttons were very, very tight. I can't speak to your problem though because I haven't tried to replace them.

My Stick is on the way along with the buttons (2 red 2 white 2 blue) I copied your idea to keep the 2 end buttons Hori for uniqueness lol

I got em at lizard lick. That was before SF4. Nowadays you'd probably be in for a long wait.

is the design of the stick the same?? you have to open the bottom to open the top cover??

You unscrew the bottom first. I just didn't video when I was doing that part.

Hey there I am interested in buying that arcade stick for the game street fighter IV
I have couple of questions
