@twogunsblazin agreed jeep failed should just keep building their older models yj and cj and tj cuz their already amazing have to spend thousands of dollars on jks to allow them to do what ever the older ones can do stock lol
bc the engine size is smaller than the usual 4.0 and that engine needs help. I hear it was made for the dodge caravan. the JK is capable for sure. But the engine needs help.
@afsisasotk A lot has to do with tradition. I think the original Willys of WWII had something like 40-50hp. Could be wrong on specific, but I think Jeep is trying to adhere to principle just as Porsche does with the 911. Or perhaps its just to keep the enormous Jeep aftermarket busy? ha
If I bought a new Jeep I'd buy a 2dr they are as close to a TJ that you can get, at least they have a short wheel base. Hey did anybody hear about International Harvester buying out Jeep from Chrysler? yeah it's true pick up the latest JP magazine!
Sorry but the CJ5 was by far the most capable off road Jeep ever made. Tougher transmission and transfercase, NO PLASTIC! TJ's arent bad but they're not as tough as a genuine CJ5. I swear my TJ wants to run away when I park my CJ5 in the garage.
That depends on whether you factor in coil spring suspension vs. leaf spring suspension. The CJ make be great for its brute force but they lacked in articulation, suspension travel and suspension balance. I drove a TJ for years with no lockers only good tires and it blew away my old CJ in offroad performance.
I think the CJ7 improved on a lot of the weak points of the five. The body was actually too short and the wheel base too narrow. The 7 spread things out a bit. I am about to switch over to a TJ from my CJ7 and I look forward to it. But i bet i will miss my raw brute force power. But easy flexing will be great. I can get the CJs wheels up to the fenders but its tough. and i'll toast to no plastic. I am going to strip my TJ.
JKs are shit...GO TJ they should have never ditched the tj model..at least should have kept the 4.0 liter instead of that minivan bs engine...shitty new jeep chrysler made..trade it in for a TJ when u find one bud
I understand the TJ talk. TJs are the best Jeep ever designed for offroad performance. But I have to say that a JK Rubicon with a lift and good tires is extremely capable and in some cases out performs the TJ (been there). Put a tuner chip in the V6 and it does much better on highway and with the 4.46 first gear in the transfercases 4.0:1 low range will crawl up a wall. This video doesn't do the JK justice.
