  • La voz más grandiosa que la tierra ha dado: Josep Carreras.

  • Una Voz CELESTIAL !!!!! Josep, eternamente rendidos ante tu talento,te Amaremos Siempre !!!!

  • This is a marvelous "Che Gelida Manina" from a true lyric/spinto tenor. He does indeed remind one of DiStefano: the same sublime, reverent expression of every note and nuance of perhaps the world's most romantic aria. The years of singing have taken their toll on Carreras, but here he is at his prime and just superb. I vocal color and beauty, Di Stefano is unparalleled, I believe, but Carreras is way up there with the great tenors.

  • Carreras had about 7 good years in his career. He moved into heavier roles too early and his technical limitations pretty much destroyed his voice. This rendition is by no means impressive. Don't confuse his chesty sound with passion. It's a shortcoming and a substitute for a resonant lyric voice.

  • Che sentimento! Coinvolgente in maniera strepitosa. Tecnicamente non si discute.

Una tra le migliori interpretazioni mai eseguite. Bravo José.

Dedicato ad An. Due ladri: gli occhi belli! Stupenda.

  • Dios mío! Qué pasión! Qué clase! qué estilo! qué tenor tan apasionado! cuánta grandeza! Un ángel caído del cielo sin duda.

  • There must be one of this problems with you...or you are a little deaf, or simply have no idea of what music is and how it defines itself,

People like you makes the beauty of the video and the voice come down with a comment full of...I don't know what...ignorance, resentment, stupidity...

    Anyway, Great voice Carreras

  • All unsubstantiated accusations from an appearently tone deaf bloke. You're shallow enough to think that his chesty voice is an expression of passion. I won't bother going into detail on his technical problems and the lack of a secure top is not the only one. Try Pavarotti's 1979 rendition at La Scala to see how a superb rendition of Che Gelida Manina should sound. Dimwit!

  • Sure, so a substantiated accusation is one based on racism! right! Pavarotti's rendition is absolutely great, but that doesn't take down Carreras' career

  • Carreras took down his own career by making the wrong decision at the wrong time, while never having remedied his technical shortcomings. Keep your bigort to yourself instead of accusing others with racism.

  • Idk about Carreras taking down his technique via poor technique. Maybe leukemia played a role?

  • Carrera's vocal decline precedes his illness by about 7 years. The decline was because of his premature and wrongful choice of heavy repertoire which he couldn't handle because of his vocal limitations and technique. Be informed.

  • Would you consider Corelli to be a poor vocal technician as well, since Corelli also produced a very chesty sound?

  • Corelli didn't have a chesty and throaty sound you genius! He was the best tenore spinto of the 20th century. He has a superbly virile, powerful and gorgeous spinto voice and an impeccable vocal range. You really need a clue!

  • I never said Corelli had a throaty production, but he definitely utilized more of his chest. When you sing, you produce your sound via chest (chest sound), or head (head voice). You are gonna tell me that Corelli utilized more of his head voice in his vocal production?

  • For God's sake! Shut up! You're getting ridiculous. Anything above the passaggio is essentially head voice! Considering the fact that Corelli was singing lyric and spinto roles, he "dancing" in his upper register a lot! You're also confusing a chesty and throaty sound (which is bad) with the chest voice which is related to one's lower and middle register.

  • Please point to me about where I advocated a throaty production? Maybe you should be the one shutting up because you have an attitude problem, and cannot allow anyone to disagree with you? Indeed you start to access your head voice production once you go past the passagio but you still have to balance the sound with your chest to add dark timbre. There is a reason why Corelli's sound is drastically different, from say Juan Diego Florez. JDF is a leggiero but his high notes involve more headvoice

  • Comment removed

  • @TheInquisitive4Ever You are absolutely right about this. The decline in his voice predates his illness.

  • You might like this rendition by Carreras. That's your own choice. But that doesn't make it superb.

  • i fall in love with his voice!

  • Aquí Carreras me gusta muchomucho.

  • thank you my dear....

  • so similar to the vocal beauty of Di Stefano when he sang this role...there are also some of the same upper vocal problems too. Still a good sample of what Carreras sounded like in his vocal prime.

  • Magnifique !! Quelle leçon de chant !

  • and that voice! There is no better!

  • it will always be my favourite...

  • Wonderful video! and then Carreras had so charming in their voice!
