It's too easy to find legal contract loopholes to deny coverage when profits are down for the quarter. For-profit giants can keep prices extra high and are beholden to stock holders not to their customers or to the ill. There are advantages, but there should be more restrictions to force a baseline service to the ill and unprofitable.

The only thing I know to do know in response to passage of the bill is to change my W4 exemptions so that the government can't take my tax refund.
I will then drop my healthcare coverage and save the premiums paying the 2% penalty (cheap at twice the price). I can then signup for healtchare insurance right before I need healthcare (on the way to the hospital if need be). This should halt the increase of my premiums.

I decided to research on my own what exactly the 'new' health care 'reform' package will be... for starters, it will be against the law to not have insurance...everyone will need to purchases some sort of insurance. So there again, if you have more money you can purchase better insurance coverage. It's very misleading to call it a 'reform' bill when in actuality, the bill (now being reviewed by the Senate) will make money for the insurance companies.

A better solution is to move towards greater voting power by citizens on all or on many bills (allowing for representation of votes by those we trust and can "fire" much quicker than in 2 or 6 years should we find out we don't like their past votes). Those in office would have less pressure from lobbyists, and lobbyists could not buy up everyone.

I lived in Canada for 35 years. Government health works for ALL people, just like government police service, fire departments, etc.
What passes for "health care" in America is beyond criminal. The fact that we would let our elected government allow citizens to die for profit will be seen as an historic stain on our nation!
MUCH agreed! I want America to (essentially) have the same kind of healthcare you all in Canada get (or a ROBUST Public Option at the very least)! Not to say that your system is perfect, but it beats ours by 100 miles! It's too easy to find legal contract loopholes to deny coverage when profits are down for the quarter. For-profit giants can keep prices extra high and are beholden to stock holders not to their customers or to the ill. There are advantages, but there should be more restrictions to force a baseline service to the ill and unprofitable.

This bill will help fight against financial rape of people with insurance. It stops them from not paying for surgeries and raising premiums or dropping you when you get sick.

The only thing I know to do know in response to passage of the bill is to change my W4 exemptions so that the government can't take my tax refund.
I will then drop my healthcare coverage and save the premiums paying the 2% penalty (cheap at twice the price). I can then signup for healtchare insurance right before I need healthcare (on the way to the hospital if need be). This should halt the increase of my premiums.
This should derail the Pelosi Autocracy from accomplishing their goals.

It is wrong. it is not about making sure 32 million people have healthcare, it is about making sure that 32 mill have mandated weight & standards placed on them to make more money by charging a $2,250 fine if they do not, more into our freedoms & bus. I decided to research on my own what exactly the 'new' health care 'reform' package will be... for starters, it will be against the law to not have insurance...everyone will need to purchases some sort of insurance. So there again, if you have more money you can purchase better insurance coverage. The law has weak teeth. If I don't want to purchase insurance, I can just pay a small fine. Then if I get sick and need someone else to pay for my big health care cost, I can buy insurance then. Who cares if I haven't contributed to the pool. Let's force those who choose to be more responsible in life to cover me. Why pay for insurance, when you can buy a new 52 inch TV. I know health insurance companies make bank off of us, and its not right, so lets do something about it...but let me tell you if you looked at the universal health care bill you would find its unconstitutional, it infringes upon our rights and deep down has nothing to do with health care reform...it scares the shit out of me. There are ways to make the health care system better in the country without letting this bill be passed. You don't know what the bill is really about.. look it up folks

@stavie03 There are people sitting in office today that would do a better job for most citizens than would many that are running for that spot today.
A better solution is to move towards greater voting power by citizens on all or on many bills (allowing for representation of votes by those we trust and can "fire" much quicker than in 2 or 6 years should we find out we don't like their past votes). Those in office would have less pressure from lobbyists, and lobbyists could not buy up everyone.

@stavie03 Some congresscritters are not millionaires. Peter DeFazio from Oregon, for example. He drives a VW Bug back and forth to work when he's in DC. An old one, not one of the new, cool ones. Bernie Sanders from Vermont ain't no millionaire, that's for sure. It's a great idea to have more of the common man touch in Congress, but just remember that Palin considers herself 'of the people' and so do a lot of others. Single Payer would resolve this in a day, everyone would be covered and the Medicare taxes would be cheaper than all the premiums and out of pocket expenses because Single Payer has NO PROFIT, LOW OVERHEAD, NO CEOS AND NO STOCKHOLDERS. Single Payer is beholden to WE THE PEOPLE .

Only people who have never experienced first hand, life threatening medical crises, are the ones who cannot empathize with these people. I've been denied health insurance, and I've have been charged outrageous amounts to pay for insurance, just to keep me alive. Can you honestly say that these people, and others like me, should just die???

I lived in Canada for 35 years. Government health works for ALL people, just like government police service, fire departments, etc.

Not to say that your system is perfect, but it beats ours by 100 miles! According to the Bureau of Labor and Statistics (as best as I can tell - the data is not crystal clear), there were 800,000 doctors in 2005, and 880,000 people working for private health insurance companies.
