Matt these are very hardcore exercises I encorporate them in my routine around twice monthly is that too much due to impact on joints and are u planning on making anymore plyo videos cheers fast Dave uk :)
@lornepark50 deceleration, learning how to absorb impact, and strength actually. When you land like that from a depth jump, your bones absorb tremendous impact and they bend slightly. When a bone bends, it realizes it needs to get stronger, and it increases its bone density. This repeated increase in bone density means bigger, stronger bones. Stronger bones, stronger muscles and stronger connective tissue along with a strong mind leads to being a stronger athlete. "osteo blast"
@screenflicker1 it is dangerous if you are not prepared, so is walking across the street. If you want to prepare for the rigors of extreme performance, than a little jumping is beneficial. I only presented a few options here, nothing more, nothing less. Good luck in your training
@mwich40 thanks. I have been weight training in the gym for about 3 years now. i'm 35. I do think that I need to do something other than what i have been routinely doing and now i'm thinking about incorporating something that is a milder version of what you show here. Thanks once again
@screenflicker1 that is wise, this is a little more advanced plyometric training as I have been doing this a long time and preparing for an upcoming football season. If you are 35, are not preparing for intense contact, and are interested in general health and longevity only, then this type of training is not for you at all. Make the training suit the needs, goals and abilities of the individual.
that was some really impressive athleticism. i also started watching your videos because of you building stuff from scratch now your gym looks really high tech. great videos keep them coming,
@mwich40 i was thinking the last 4 or 5 videos of yours (that i saw) were out in a parking lot and how to make Bulgarian bag and other equipment. I was not thinking you were using lazers and motion capture but that it the gym seemed more put together than the last time i had seen a video of yours.
@thetruemorg ah, yes. I love training outside. But yeah, I don't think I would know what to do with high cameras if I had them. I can only analyze oly lifts so much. I rather just lift the damn weight. How's your training going?
@mwich40 i have lost 120 lbs and hit a wall with medical problems (Gaul bladder attacks if i get my heart rate up to high) i am getting it taken care of soon so by summer i can progress with lifts again. currently it is yoga 4 times a week and some Indian clubs. i am itching so bad to do something really physical but an ice pick in my back says other wise. It is hard to take time off when you body cant handle or injured but after taking the time it is so worth not doing perm damage.
@martin1106 no, but when I played basketball regularly I could dunk smaller balls, like a softball. I haven't played in a while, but that is about to change, because I believe basketball is a great sport to develop and showcase athleticism.

nice variations, impressive...question though: what is the purpose/what do you gain from the depth drop? just curious

Obviously, if you wanted to, you would make a superb olympic or professional athlete.

This is actually very dangerous. An accident could entail you putting back by weeks
