This clip invited me for 3 weeks of great biking vacations on Tenerife with my Trek Madone. Much more difficult ride than in Alps, but I will be back here.
As everyone else has stated great vid. I'm heading off to the Greek islands in May, and in no small part to video's like this. Gone through all the comments and still can't find out what the track is to the video. SO WHAT IS THE MUSIC TRACK!!, cheers
Nice video, nice place to ride, wish I had a place like that i could go with my bike. One question is, who did the movie, there's some nice angles there.
Gran Canaria Roads are better for cycling and have more mountains to climb. Tenerife has the top high of spain , The Teide Volcan. The 3rd highest in the world. Teide is awesome l to climb but Gran Canaria offer more choice and levels. and also have more variety of embiroments and views. Also has the climb to "Cruz de Tejeda" 27 km climb with 2000 mts positive ascense and reach the 23 % level. Its ones of the hardest in Europe, That said many pro riders who trained here in winter.
Beautiful video. Its a close call between Nice in the south of France and Tenerife when it come to great cycling areas. To be honest Tenerife has some much harder climbs but my heart lies in Nice.
And the name of the "tune" is Kalifornia from Kashmir. It had whizz say yet. Hadn't it? And whizz: thank. I know from you too :D, I wait to that ...hmmm 1 year :D. Thx. Lone cyclist, wow, and very lucky. I want so mirror road, and this road.
Ajánlani is fogom. Thx.
I just got my FIRST road bike!!! After climbing the 3849 foot Mt.Diablo in California on my 35 pound Trek 4300, i FINALLY have my doad bike. Its a LeMonde Alpede Huez. Now i'm flying up those hills. August 2nd is my first race on it. The race is a 63 mile ride that goes through the beautiful Bay Area. I'll prob be taking videos and uploading them soon...ish
hey buddy, I want to become a cyclist, and the first step is buying a bicycle lol, do you think you can help me find one because I really don't know much about them. they all look similar but the prices vary from 300 to 3000 lol
yea dont be a pussy, dying rocks. Heck now, a balance of being a tad defensive and not being a pussy is a better aprroach downhills, dont be afraid of using your brakes, especially in corners, even the pros do it and you must or your going go off coarse. And Finally get the fear out of your eyes, everyone falls.
Thank you, NoirMusic, actually, since I wrote that I have been going down minor hills, and doing some turns. I am working up to it. It is fun. I love my mountain bike. (It's even fun on the road.) I appreciate the advice.
I also found that staying on the flats but practicing really tight leaning corners makes hitting hill corners less breath taking. Keep ridin' man....it just gets better!!
I love HWY 1, its so pretty, great motorcycle road ;) haven't taken the bicycle out on it though, I bet its even more epic when you get the chance to take it all in on the bike.

I just got back from there on vacation. I saw only one cyclist on the Teide. I would imagine it's quite dangerous as most automobilists don't seem to be conditioned to share the roads with bikes (at least from what I saw). Great video!
Actually 99.9% of car drivers are very polite towards cyclists, everyone says so! Perhaps it's the tourists that don't know how to drive according to local rules?
Failure to give adequate room (1.5m) while overtaking a cyclist is cause for a €1500 fine here in Spain. Google "road hog theory" for more info about local road rules concerning cyclists...

What a fantastic vid - perfect song selection too. Especially interesting reading that you self-filmed most of it, great job! Your Tenerife is quite beautiful and the coastal shots bear a striking resemblance to a place I once lived about 20 miles south of San Francisco, California -- the Pacifica/Devil's Slide/Montara area. The "windswept" country road reminds me of Stage Road between San Gregorio and Pescadero, which is about 30 miles still farther south. Beautiful music video!
-Most of the video was filmed by me. This meant I had to dismount, setup the camera, ride off into the distance, turn around and come back to stop the tape!
-Only the panning, trailing & zooming shots filmed up in Las Cañadas were done with the help of a friend.
-I actually destroyed a tubular tyre during the "windwept road" scene. There's a sharp corner behind the camera & you can see the resulting puff of smoke at exactly 3:22.
it's so beautiful...:( the wievs are so amazing... when i retire (so in about 50 years... im 17 now) i want to live there and just cycle all day long:)
and by the way cool bike frame you got there;P is it for the weight reduction and if so how heavy is your bike??
thx for the video... as a matter of fact i'm going to watch it again right now:)
The design of the Kestrel 500 EMS is more aerodynamic than a traditional bicycle frame and at the same time, more comfortable to ride as it has more vertical compliance.
I bought the frame in the year 2001, it weighs 1350 grams (large). The whole bike has weighed as little as 6.2kg, but I prefer to use more durable wheels so that it okay to ride often without fear of something breaking!
i have a gios super record (from 1988 which happens to be 2 years older than me^_^) with a shimano dura ace set and i get on exactly 6.8kg (which is the lovest you are allowed to get to take part in races according to UCI rules). People have been telling me to get a new frame (everything on the bike is a seazon old or new) but i just love my frame + it's a good one. Do you happen to know if your frame is allowed by the UCI rules??
Where are all the cars? When I was there on holiday the road was always stuffed with cars. This video is beautiful and captures the spirit of riding, but sadly I think it does not picture the true reality of riding in Tenerife, the traffic is heavy.
Hello arnthorla. Yes it's no secret that there are cars on Tenerife; some places much less than others.
I personally do not own a car. In fact, I am nearly 31 years old & I can proudly say to the world "I have never owned a car".
Who wants to see cars in any cycling video (apart from those crazy bike messenger in NYC vids!)?? I try to edit all cars out of all of my videos. Alas, sometimes you can still see them- if you look closely enough.
man, I grew up in tenerife and seeing this makes me miss the days when i used to ride there as a kid,my parents had a bar there and after school I used to grab my bike call some friends and ride with no certain destination, the scenery was awsome and never let me down.I also remember that when we remembered to take some food and ate them up in the "Piko del ingles" they tasted a million dollars.
Miss the pain of hillclimbing and then the huge reward of freewheeling back home downhill in peace.
The Place were is taken this wordefull video Is TENERIFE ,one of the 7 island, of CANARY ISLANDS; located on the north-west of AFrica, THE top altitude of this island is nearly 4000m , there views and wether is perfect and a exellent paviment road. Ni ce plac to dis co ver
Cyclists rock!!!! Great video Scenery and bike...cool man, that's just give us more inspiration to keep on biking...l'm also blessed to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, we have scenery like that here, but that's so far the most beautiful place l've ever seen... thanx for that great video!!!!!
Have just got back from a 100K ride thru the Adelaide Hills in South Australia. That is where the Tour Down Under is held. It is rides like todays thru beautiful scenery as well and videos like this which inspire me to get out as often as I can. We are fortunately blessed with great weather and good roads. Beautiful scenery in this video and a really great job of putting it together. Keep Safe riding
I cried after seeing your video! I have never seen a more beautiful place for cycling and ... I have no words for what you just did to me! And as I just love cycling, I suggest that you come in Romania to see more beautiful places, not so picturesque - but don't be fooled by what many people say - that Romania has awful roads etc. yes, it has, but not all of them. please contact me
holy cow!! you just added tenerife to one of my must-visit cycling locations. apart from the excellent video editing and song, the scenery and road quality looks perfect for riding. those long gradual hills and all the smooth curves... it gets my heart going a little faster just imagining it. you are one blessed person, quintessentquirk!!
Yeah, well it has been A LOT of hard work to get where I am now, believe me. It's not all cycling in the sun and making videos... the idea of this one was to increase awareness of Tenerife as a training and cyclo-touring destination.
It seems to have worked, as I now have 12 or 13 road and MTBs that I rent out, and it's fast becoming my main business.
You know the video was filmed in late november, right? :-P
Sitting here looking out of my office window at the rain on a cold Irish December evening 2 weeks before Christmas. Now I know what I want from Santa - 2 weeks off work in the sun. Great video. Well Done. Keep it up.
I agree deep, it is the greatest sport!! I gotta have this video in my favorites, it is nicely done!! I am a cyclist myself and I can never get enough of it!!
Cycling is abourt getting on the bike at morning and just ride so your mind get clear and you dont want stop riding but you have to because you legs cant go further. And this video shows the world of cycling perfect!! Great vid
Only signed up to You Tube to comment on this video, absolutely brilliant knowing how much time and effort goes into filming and editing a video like this.
"Some people here said it can't be done,so I thought I'd give it my best shot. Even now they still tell me the same"
