  • I Love The Video It Can Increase My Knowledge Rapid Prototyping Right Before Your Eyes is presented by Print To 3D

  • Steady I Really Like This Video Rapid Prototyping Right Before Your Eyes is presented

  • Good, I like that you share this video, I wish success always Rapid Prototyping Right Before Your Eyes is presented

  • make a new camera with the machine

  • You sound like a nerd

  • all that tech involed in 3D printing and your filming with a 1980's Nokia phone?! :(

  • how much did the machine cost?

  • Video quality is poor! I think you are lie! that is not a rapid prototyping! it is a automatic cake design frosting!

  • Is it me or does this guy sound alot like "Little Nicky" !?!?!?

  • Does this make a strong enough part to be practical? could i print out a comb and then comb my hair and carry it in my pocket all day and not have it break?

  • You are all f'ing stupid, the cost on these machines save from mistakes when creating mold injection tooling alone pays for itself in 1 - 4 error saves depending on the size of the mold. If you are making bull shit hobby projects out of it, then don't waste your money, other than that for real engineering and and rapid prototyping there isn't much else out there like it.

  • There seem to be plenty of arguments in favor of more conventional CNC machining, but these 3D printing technologies are still very much in their infancy. A 3d printer can't create something with high strength or high temperature metallurgy but there's no denying that there are some applications where conventional CNC just can't replicate what a 3d printer can do. As the technologies mature I can see where 3dP and CNC will be on even footing some day.

  • One day, we will all have 3D printers, just as we all have 2D printers.

  • @Smokingfox3 for what purpose?? that's the key. we use 2d printers for copies of text files that we can't lose through a computer malfunction. A 3d printer has almost no use for the common person unless you're of an engineering type that likes to build/design new things. And even then you're not going to be using it all that much.

  • @Avethen

    >Find website with an awesome object you want

    >print it

    >own it

    That's the purpose.

I'm a transformer collector...I'd be printing off parts and assembling/painting new figures all day every day.

  • not gadgets... you are seeing your job go bye bye. sucks but its true.

  • What is the most complicated item that you could print? Can it print anything that is intertwined but not connected (for example two linked rings)? How much does it cost to print each product?

  • How much is it a million dollars

  • @figureskaternina actually there is a 3d printer called the makerbot and its only 1,299 dollars for the kit or 2,500 pre-made which is not all that bad considering all the things you could make with it

  • this thing is so cool

  • does it print in colour?

  • @whatzzzzzzup all would need is for them to add dye to the material and done

  • Why is it they can develop technology like that but they can't take a quality video to share it with the world? Bit blurry and grainy, techies!

  • this printers stupid. 3d printing is dumb they should be making quarters freaking noobs

  • When the price sinks to 500 dollars, I'm in!

  • sounds like pacman!

  • Remember the Wright Flyer, now we have a plane so big the Wright Flyer, could take off, make it's flight, and land all inside the plane. We have to start somewhere. Congrats, team222badbrad

  • lol you say "w w w ." really wierd... it's funny

  • thankk god for fast forward

  • cartman from south park?

  • This seems like it would be pretty good at making FISHING LURES!!! :)

  • 2 girls, 1 3d-printed cup :)

  • how much does the powder cost?

  • I'd like to see a larger scale models, something that's not as big as a hotwheels car, XD! Maybe something as big as a 1'x1'x1' cube, or something along that line...

  • @proud2benorwegian: I just printed a custom 7x7x7 cube that cost me 2000 dollars. You probably don't want to print random stuff.... no...

  • i need this for my cat and other items because some of my bowls for food and cup are getting cracked and i don't care if its white

  • more conventional prototyping techniques are still more practical cheaper and faster

  • rapid? that took 9 minutes!

  • @SuperNoobdude Let's see how long it take you to make one accurately by hand!

  • @team222badbrad hmmm....your right never mind

  • @team222badbrad Let's use a machine tool... i do a solid steel cup in 2 minutes... It's not against you, but even if we are in 2011, i think these 3D printers still are gadgets. in addition, am i really alone to think which this printer does not do an accurate job ?

  • @Sp4s12 This is a machine tool. You are forgetting all the time it takes to program, setup tooling, finding material, etc. Sure a CNC can pump out several of these in the time it takes to make one, but that is after you do the setup. Also this is only a simple part to make. They are far from gadgets. Of course they do accurate jobs.

  • @team222badbrad My opinion isn't closed. In fact, even if i think this printers are gadgets, they could be widely used by unskilled people in few years thanks to the decrease of the prices and so on. In this case, they could be interresting... (i've worked for a long time on the industry sector as a mechanic)

  • @Sp4s12 Lets venture into the realm of complex objects and see how machine tools stand up. Oh you want a ball inside of a cube that is "free" floating? No problem, but only with 3d printing.

  • @Sp4s12 Not sure you could pump out this part in anything but a CNC machine in under 2 minutes.

Even if you can... check out the vid of the one with MOVING parts. They acutally build a fully functional bearing from the ground up (all in one part). Impossible to do on a CNC.

Its still in its infant steps, but its coming along. Exciting to see what it will become in just a few years. ,

  • @Sp4s12 Wouldn't that also be more expensive? Part of the point of 3d printing things out of plastic is keeping the cost down.

  • @Sp4s12 personal computers were 'gadgets' in the late 1970s. the paralells are almost exact. the computer was, before, a very expensive machine run only in corporations and government laboratories, and massively expensive. the first 'personal computers' were hobby systems that were sold in kits. in a few years, there were dozens of different 'brands' of PC, all competing, and dozens more suppliers of parts, kits, etc. by 2000 corporations chunked their mainframes for PC networks

  • @Sp4s12 We use rapid prototyping at work to make very complex UAV mechanisms that could NOT be milled in the same number of parts. Also there are carbon composite materials that offer extremely light weight and plenty of strength. Tolerances are not at tight with a milling machine, but the doors are endless in what you can design with rapid prototyping.

  • @Sp4s12 okie sure could have a steel cup but how much would it cost for a set of steel cups versus a plastic set.

  • @Sp4s12 Rapid prototyping is incredibly useful, the air intake on the formula student car at my university is rapid prototyped using an aluminium nylon composite, it is a design that would be impossible to machine with CNC. The hinges that hold the two components that make up the intake together are created in situ, with no material removal required. It really is amazing.

  • @Sp4s12 And what if I just want a quick prototype/ mockup? And industry slowly gearing 3d printing as a process for mass manufacturing. Your opinion is worthless and reeks of ignorance. Im not sure of the quality of this printer and theres a possibility it is on low res, But SLA printers for the past couple years can print out parts of extremely high quality ( texture equivalence of a .1mm with extremely high tolerances)

  • @team222badbrad Still its really long and if it was clay I might be able to be quicker.

Sorry I just really wanted to reply to that.

  • @SuperNoobdude go carve one out by hand, ill see you in a week.

  • @SuperNoobdude its rapid PROTOTYPING so unless you can take a chunk of plastic mill it down to the exactly same dimecions as this in under 9 min stfu... and if u find a flaw in somthing you change it on a computer and print it out then having to manualy do it yourself every single time you make one

  • @SuperNoobdude and your three dimensional object duplicator does it in five i presume?

  • @SuperNoobdude 9 minutes is actually fuck all compared to most 3-axis cnc mills.

    Usually you're looking at about 2 hours+

  • How much does the ABS plastic cost for making a 3d printed object?

  • @pogus73 something as small as he made can easily be over $100. 3D printing is expensive. One benefit of rapid prototyping is using it to propose a model or to troubleshoot a design. Better to spend $100 dollars on a small part and find a flaw then to end up wasting thousands of dollars on a failed part.

  • @Th3rmanM3rman This part would be MUCH much less than $100.

  • reminds me of the machine they used to rebuild Lelu on the 5th element. they rebuilt a human body the same way. neat stuff

  • Ur voice is so boring ugh

  • how did you come across a 3d printer? where did u get it from and how much?

  • it's so cool...i would so be printing my hand and putting it in funny places..to scare my friends..who i will also make with this

  • isn't a 3D printer a misnomer? It's actually manufacturing an item. Not made of paper, or printing material, but a polymer.

  • @littlestewie2000 rather than taking a specific type of stock material and stamping, milling, or otherwise machining a part, this tech literally prints very thin layers to produce the final product, usually no further refining is necessary. no, it is not ink and paper, but the term 'print' -referring to the deposit of material on a substrate-still applies.

  • @sm0kinace Excellent reply!

  • @sm0kinace omg i didnt know that

  • 1080p Please...

  • @wariofan279 video is over three years old... and there is a better version if you look! :-)

  • @team222badbrad

Can you make a Video Showing the 3D Printer making a Machine Gun?

  • @wariofan279 Probably not. I do have a full size printed pistol.

  • @team222badbrad

Oh!,Can you make a Video Showing that?

  • the forerunner of star trek´s "replicator"

  • Cool video. Also, our channel is dedicated to educating individuals on all of the additive technologies as well. If you'd like to click AdditiveTechnologies to the left you can watch these machines and hear a narrator explain everything as well.

  • 10 minutes to make a fucking cup?

  • @gergy008 how long would it take you to make a cup? 1 sec? no? heh, didnt think so!

  • how much would it cost if i wanted something made about 10 inch long 2 inch wide im making a all in on pen with a ruler compass for derection and math, flashlight, a 3 color pen a pencil stylus highlighter small razor like a box cutter a postit holder a laser pointer and a protracter all in one trust me its possible

  • @airsoftpaintkiller1 - But won't it be a pain in the ass to write with a 10-inch pen?

I think maybe you're making something else.

  • @airsoftpaintkiller1 -you would have to engineer the thing, blueprints and all, then make the pieces one by one and then put it together ikea style. Considering that youre not gonna be using that much raw material i would say that pretty much the only cost is the time and effort put in to design

  • Ever heard of a CNC Milling Maching or a CNC lathe?

  • @DrKiIIem Yes I was a machinist and quality inspector for several years.

  • @DrKiIIem This is basically positive machining, adding material instead of removing it. I run a 5x Haas for a living and would love to use a 3d printer.

  • This guy souns like little nicky... you know, Adam Sandler... Do some voice impressions for us!

  • how strong is the material?

  • you should open a shop (if you already haven't) and sell stuff like those :D

  • hahaha near the end u can hera sum1 saying wut r u makin lol

  • @uallsuckass123 yup! :-)

  • fantastic , how do i contact your company to discuss some work .

  • @MrParacin printo3d (at ) printo3d (dot) com or visit printo3d (dot) com

    Bradley

  • Replicator:)

  • Could you tell what size hole is in the tip of your extruder? I like your other video as well. Keep up the good work.

  • voll krass alder!!! hilft meiner präsentation leider genau nüsse :P

  • Ever here of a RapRap? Think of RepRap as a China on your desktop. just Google it you can make a raprap cheaper and more accurate then you could buy one.

  • Yes. A reprap can be made cheaper, but I have yet to see any "homebrew" 3d printer make a part with any quality or accuracy comparable to that of commercial FDM machine. Also must of these kits do not have any means of supporting the part while printing overhangs.

  • check out the RepRap here:

    watch?v=gKc9cxBrsBY&feature=player_embedded

  • What about it?

  • the goal of the RepRap is to give manufacturing to the masses and to harm globalism. if i can make a part for my car i don't need to go to GM to get a replacement.

the RepRap has come a long way, it still has a long way to go but its a machine a common guy can make and use.

  • I know what RepRap is but your video had nothing to do with my previous reply...

  • good video, we have two FDM machines at my work we use by stratasys.

  • Noting says "futuristic" like a 3 frame per second video. Learn 2 jetsons nao plz

  • This video was filmed with a $30 webcam.

    Why?

Probably because the environment in which it was filmed was 158 degrees Fahrenheit.

  • @loltehinternet

Nothing says stupid like bad spelling

  • Doing a project at college, been researching the different types of rapid prototyping, what kind of tolerances are they good for? hoping to make a gear meshing fuel pump for my rc plane

  • Shot glass! yeah an abs gun would be good for one shot probably :)

  • There is a open source movement going on spreading 3D printing machines that can replicate themselves.

    See reprap . org

  • So if someone were to make the file. it could print a gun with moving parts?

  • There are machines that use metal for a similar process, so it's plausible. But considering the time per unit, the cost of materials, the cost of upkeep, and the initial cost of the machine... Illegal guns cost much less.

  • Not with this machine.. You need to be able to extrude molten metal then.

  • thank you for this vid. i have many question abt this rp process especially SLS and FDM. is it the process will influenced the mechanical properties of products that produced by SLS and FDM? i need to know..... tq

  • wow!..that is fast for making a prototype!.. I thought that 3d printing takes hours to even make a 1 inch cubic model! Can you tell me where can I get the plastic powder used for 3d printing.

  • how much time did the printing process take?

  • This video is in "real time".

  • How much this machine costs?

  • Thousands upon thousands of dollars. Not as much as SLS machines though...

  • you MUST be rich to buy one of these without stealing one.

that also means you must be rich to get 3d models out of the computer screen and into real life.

  • Two words: business loans

Some people get loans to buy new cars.

I get loans to make money and buy new cars.

I have this quote on my wall:

"You have to spend money to make money."

  • haha ... another random crap builder wannabe here! Wow ... great machine!

  • LOL. My other machine is better :-)

  • sweeeeet, I want one so i can build random crap

  • Comparing a 3D printing machine to a CNC machine is like comparing CAD software to a word processor.

    They aren't the same thing.

  • Now, as far as I know I havent mentioned any 3D printing machine or a CNC machine, I just said I wanted to build random crap..

How can u pull that out of this? lolwut

  • I think he meant to reply to

    whoopassernie's comment

  • I did. In fact I'm reasonable sure that I clicked on the 'Reply' button on his comment. YouTube seems to randomly place my comments when I hit 'Reply'.

    Sorry about the confusion.

  • I guessed so, but he fucked up and pressed "reply" on the wrong person.

  • @proud2benorwegian i dont think you would still want one if you knew how much one cost

  • 3D printers versus CNC machine tools? CNC VMC's & lathes are more precise and much faster. Prototyping parts on a CNC mill or lathe is as simple as CAD CAM. The only major advantage of a 3-D printer, it caters to those who do not have the technical expertise to use machine tools. A cnc mill or lathe would have more by product, however, the process would be superior. I am a master machinist and manufacturing engineer. 3-D printers have a way to go to be more than model makers.

  • Printing parts is as simple as orienting, clicking on process button, and then hitting print. NO PROGRAMING. I've worked at three machine shops so I know all about them. There virtually is no setup time for a 3d printer vs CNC. Sure 3d printers have a ways to go before they are printing out small production runs of high quality parts, but CNC/NC's have been around for much longer.

There are many 3d printers out there that can produce quality parts with tolerances less than +/-.005".

  • You simply can't compare a 3d printer/rapid prototyping machine to a CNC. They are two totally different things.

Today I will be printing up some samples to send to a company who is looking at 3d printing a batch of several hundred small parts.

Mass producing 3d printed parts is going to continue to develop and become more common in the market place in just a few years time.

  • 9 minutes? Is that really rapid? I was expecting 30 seconds

  • Well your expectations were bit off....

  • probably cost thousands of dollars

  • You are probably right... :-)

  • awesome

put in some heart- or kidneycells as 'ink', load the 3d model and print some fully functional organs :)

  • lmao how did u get the 5,000$ to buy on eof those in the first place lmao and second i wish i had one lmao

  • The $5k is the Cheap Part! Its the Software that sticks it to you!!!! Im sure its just as much as MasterCam X3 and then you need the Addons. So if its anything like MasterCam X3 with a few addons your looking at about $30K

  • so how much is this machine? u can send me a message or something so it stays private. I think this technology is really great. If i knew the price of the machine, id gain a general idea of how much it would cost me to purchase one. I hope you can help me, thanks.

  • why don't you look into building your own just type fab@home in google ;)

  • You can make the video in 1 min length to tell the same story.

  • the rapid part escapes me

  • Why?

  • because it takes 10 minutes to make a tiny part. it could be manufactured many times faster with conventional means like a lathe in this case.

  • yes your right a lathe would make these faster, but this is not manufacturing.

If I gave you 3d model for this part right now it would take you HOURS to make just one with a lathe.

Try machining a very complex part...

Rapid prototyping has its purpose, but it is not intended for high volume manufacturing, but can be used for low volume manufacturing.

  • I know it can make arbitrary shapes but that's not to be confused with speed. it's horribly slow but versatile. it's not rapid at all.

    think about it

  • the term rapid is not referring to the speed of which the machine can make a part but refers to the speed at which it can make a prototype part vs. other methods.

  • i agree to team222badbrad the term rapid means from idea to product in hand...that process is fast not its manufacturing..

  • the difference is this method is used by DESIGNERS as opposed to machinists. product prototype designs can be developed by many people quickly and then prototyped quickly without having to explain everything to a machinist. 10 mins to create something like this traditionally is ridiculous, it would take 10 mins just to communicate the dimensions lol, another 10 to make the lathe template (which you have to make everytime there's a design change).

  • There are only accurate to 0,17mm. Not good. I can buy 2 CNC high speed machines accuate to 50 microns from Roland for half the price of a half decent 3d printer. The can prototype and make molds and machine parts. 3dprinting is a novelty.

  • You don't know what your are talking about... There are plenty of 3d printers that have great accuracy! The one in this video does not have the best accuracy or part quality, but it does what it is intended to do and is far from a novelty. 3d printing is the future, but I guess you fail to see beyond that. "Santa Claus Machines" and CNC's are two different worlds. FYI 50 microns isn't that great for a cnc....I want to see you cnc the part seen in my video "3d Printed Topological Model"

  • Rite show me a 3d printer accurate to 0.5microns. We have 2 Mazak integrexx machines that can manufacture topological models. What use are prototypes other than visaual aid to a customer. Ant these machines cost $30000 plus for a decent machine. If they were any use our company would have one.

  • So your cnc turning center can machine parts with a tolerance of less than .00002 inches?

  • RP is prototyping, not final product. Accuracy is not the most important thing. There is many things witch you can never make with CNC. And many materials you can't use with CNC. Hi-tech 3D printer can make everything you can draw, with different materials/colors on one model at same time.

  • it cost that u can't afford it

  • Who can't afford what?

  • blazers had ask..how much for one...then i answer this, its cost that u can't afford that...

  • u has ungood grammar.

  • usez iz right heez grommar iz ungo0dz.

  • @MishaShemyakin doubleplusungood

  • What are the restrictions on materials that the fabber can use? I have read articles claiming to make objects out of chocolate, does it work on the same principle? What about fabrics, can it create those?

Regardless of the answer, this is the most interesting thing I have ever learned about, well done. Well done indeed.

  • I have lots of videos on my channel check em out!

Each brand of 3d printers has there own material selections.

Dimension 3d printers can only print in ABS plastic.

It also depends on the technology used to create the part. Some glue powder together, some cure liquids, some extrude material such as a dimension machine from wire, some even "inkjet" material layer by layer.

You can't print cotton yet..., but you could print a fabric type pattern with some other material.

  • how much for one

  • one of what?

  • About 20 grand

  • on ebay $7,500.00 up to $39,000.00

but the $7,500.00 one is 8 years old

so it isn't really worth buying sth. that costs

$7,500.00 - $39,000.00 just to make little things that aren't worth more than $5^^

  • Well, the point isn't mass production. It's to take a digital design and create a physical model. And when properly hardened, you can continue the process and actually make molds out of it. What do you think modern miniature game creating companies do? They make the parts on the computer, use this to print them out, then can cast a series of molds until they reach a production mold.

  • ohh man when will they make a chocolate ice cream maker n put all da bs ingrediant in machine n done fuking havent eaten ice cream in 2 weeks man

  • What?

  • can is make colors? like red green blue?

  • yes, white, black, orange, red, blue, green, yellow, and grey.

  • have you thought about using your voice as a sleep aid?

im sure insomniacs would spend good money to hear your monotone droning

  • It looks a lot like the FDM process.

  • read the description.

"This machine uses Fused Deposition Modeling or FDM for short."

  • stuped question.plastic is synthetic to.

  • If you're going to call someone stupid...at least spell it correctly and the word 'too'.

  • well compared to what you have said it seems insignificat

  • what kind of material for printing are you using???

Are all of them are plastic or synthetic???

  • It is ABS plastic.

  • love you. watched your videos all day and I'm exhausted. x

    I wish you'd fabricate me.

  • This is actually a very fast pace to be building- What is the price for this printer- Whats your electric bill to run this giant heater?

  • I designed this model to print fast. Larger models can take over 24 hours!

Dimension's base model price is about $18,000 + all the extras which would be about $24,000 for everything. The storage stand/base alone is over $1,000 in addition to the machine.

It uses about 1600 Watts average I've been told. The machine is connected to it's own 20amp 120v circuit.

    <
