  • Great job

I do own the Luna bass made in Poland. Looks much like ol Gene basses. I think Im gonna do a cover soon.

  • Great cover, and exceptional bass!! I've got a Grabber, myself. More of a P-bass tone, not as warm as your Ripper.

  • Nice Bass, too bad you are demonstrating a line by one of the worst bassists in rock!

  • @jsilence418 *Best bassists

  • Nice playin' man!!

I'm a Musician Myself, Play Bass & Guitar and I aint gonna get into stupid details like "hey the pick, or u played a milisecond half note wrong" or magnifying glass analysis into this....you just FEEL IT! and play it DAMN GOOD! your Bass sounds quite nice and you got the vibe so keep it up! I loved it dude

  • se toca con los 2 dedos amigo

  • Awesome! I enjoyed this. Gene Simmons is the reason I started playing bass though I think I was really more interested in spitting blood and blowing fire. I still play bass but haven't gotten around to the other two yet. Remember the Grabbers had a single pickup that you could slide between bridge and neck positions.

  • 1973 ripper is my favorite bass of all time!

  • AWESOME BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Very nice sound, i have Original Ripper from 1975 is not so many of them in world !...

  • your d string is flat

  • @ronholtgrewe Can we trade ears?

  • I would love a tab for this! =)

    Mind posting it anyone? :P

  • @Muluin bassmasta net for all your bass needs

  • nice cover... and i love it even more cuz ur playin the song of my favorite bass player... peace to gene simmons

  • That is my favorite kind of bass right there man, next to Gene's battle axe. Great job on that cover, one of the best on YouTube!

  • there is always someone that says ''i play better, improve your ____''

If you were about to post a comment like this, well, fuck you, upload a better video then.

  • @gabrielRAMONE How true. If you've even got the guts to post a video your way ahead of the "armchair generals".

  • Strutter! Nice.

  • easy stuff`!

  • dude could u send me tabs

  • good job men, its awsome!!

  • sweet jamming bro. It's just a flick of that zone man, great playing.

  • grat job man !

  • pretty good job thys outta tune or playin the notes higher than they are meant to be

  • good job i do a simpler job but good!!

  • Way to let your fingers do the walkin an talkin, you are in the zone rock out.

  • For this one, you should use a pick (:

  • The G# is not there just go straight to B and C

  • 666/5 ;)

  • 55555555/5 Very very very good man so clear!!!!!!

  • close. Not quite. Excellent Gene style Gibson Grabber though.

  • Anyone else noticed this guy only uses his index finger thus making it harder than usual 2 play bass, and don't think that just coz u can play guitar that bass will be easy coz it is a lot different and better ! keep rockin Craig \m/

  • ive been playing guitar for three years i got a bass last week and after non stop practicing im already better than my friend whos been playing bass for about 3 years.

im not trying to brag im just saying that sometimes it is easier if youve played guitar.(i also play drums so that might have something to do with it)

  • @jamaskad If you've played drums you have a big advantage. Timing of the drummer is followed by the band. The bass is a close second.

I was a guitar player years ago and was able to pick the bass quite quickly.

  • NICE. When played LIVE many people have to simplify this song to make it easier to play live. For all of you that have a problem, LISTEN TO GENE, he does NOT play his parts the same way ALL of the time. As long as you keep in time and in the same key, it works out.

  • good job !!!! i'm a old school KISS fan scence 75' and you really rock this tune '' I think mr. simmons would be proud !!!! next time ya need to spit up some fake blood [hahahaha] rock *n* roll all night and party every day !!!! ''cheers''

  • a little diffrent from my tabs for strutter but nice

  • is bass hard to play

  • Not If You Only Want To Play Easy Band's Songs Like KISS Etc, But If You Want To Play Really Jazzy Tunes, Or The Extreme Metal Bass, That's When It Gets Hard, But That's The Fun Of It. =) But It's So Much Easier If You Can Play Guitar Aswell, I'm Quite Good At Guitar, So Bass Is A Breeze For Me, But Obviously It's Harder As The Strings Etc Are Thicker,

There's My Lecture. Ahaha. Give It A Try!

  • oh i play guitar, i want too try i looks fun

  • yeah when you wanna play stuff like cannibal corpse songs like frantic disembowement it can be harder then randy rhodes guitar solos. dont beleive me search frantic disembowement bass cover.

  • Yeah, That Was The First ''Hard'' Song I Learnt.. Ahah. Different Taste I've Got Eh? KISS And Cannibal Corpse. Aha.

  • you must be really good to learn that song!

  • Well, they go out of tune very easily & one majorly important thing is that a bassist has to stay in tempo with the drummer, cuz the bass helps all the rest of the band mesh together

  • Simons used GRABBERS for sure though. He used two actually. A wine red and a black one. After that he owned a black ripper as well. I don't know about the rest.

  • gene simmons always used gibson grabbers(g3)

  • You are incorrect. Simmons used a black Ripper.

  • ya , he used several grabbers and rippers right?

  • Great, just a few mistakes, they were: on the "She Wears Her Satins Like A Lady"... it shouuld be:A String:2-2,E:0-1-2-3-3, A:5-5-4-2-0-5-5-4-2-0 But GREAT JOB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • gene simmons used a bass like that before he got the axe bass and then he got the punisher

  • Gene used Gibson Ripper in early days (1973-1975) and then he got Pedulla bass (?) and used it to the 1990, i think...

    (sry bad english)

  • can you send me the tabs that you used?

  • His notes are right on the money, Gene was actually a more active bass player in the early days of kiss and changed his style over the years. I still think he is a great bass player, but paul and bruce did allot of bass playing in the studio on the 80's kiss albums

  • That's one sweet bass.

  • Rox ♫

  • nice god work ;)

  • Nice.

  • nice playing you are very good but i think the notes are a bit wrong

  • lol

  • I was thinking about assembling my own "tribute" Ripper bass. I was a teenager in the 90s and fell in love w/ Nirvana. N's bass player played a Ripper (and he had certainly heard of KISS!) and I was interested in having one of my own. I'd buy one used, but I'm picky about necks, pickups, etc. and would rather put one together myself. Can you tell me if the pickup/tone options really make that much difference? I was thinking it could be one of those things where you have 20 tones & 1 or 2 usable.

  • that would be Krist Novoselic of Nirvana. yeah he was a gibson player and he owned several rippers and rd artist/standards. and a couple of thunderbirds too

  • gene simmons used the gibson ripeer in the 70's but now he uses the gibson grabber

  • He is awsome

  • jeez thats really how the rhythm goes in the verse part isnt it. ive been playing it wrong the whole time. Stupid tabs!

  • sorry, this bass sound more like a p-bass or like a jazz bass? how about slap? it's sounds good? thank you!!!

  • i would say it sounds a bit closer to a jazz bass, but gibson basses have their own vibe that is much different from the fenders. most bassists will trash the gibson tone, but i personally love it.

  • Nice Job! However, try it with the Bass tuned down a half step.

  • how do u make a bass amp have that clean sound?

  • Bass Amps should be clean...

  • i know but my camera doesnt pick up the sound like that maybe its just my camera

  • most likly me thinks

  • amazing

  • Your A string sounds alittle out of tune, but otherwise its a good cover! 4/5

  • can u give me the tab 4 this?

  • the intro is on A string 2,2 then on E string 1,2,3,3 back to A string 2,3,4,5,5 then on D string 4,7,4 then back to A string 0,0,4,7,7. if u want i can e-mail u the rest

  • yea...i'd appreciate it if u could send me the whole thing...or u could make a new vid on how to play...

  • OK i Will Soon

  • Great cover! Could you please share the tabs?

  • What is the name of this song?

  • Strutter ;)

  • every thing is perfect about this video except that extra little twinge gene gets from the pic

  • Mm, actually I'm playing one of the notes wrong on the main riff, I play it properly on my followup video in the response above. But yeah, you really should play KISS with a pick. I just can't make it work properly so I play finger-style.

  • I see

  • @craigrjanssen I know what you mean. I've been trying to work on my fingers, but for me picking is easier.

  • @craigrjanssen Nice playing i love listening to the strutter bass line nice tone.

  • @craigrjanssen I always loved the strutter bass line :D

  • wow dude your really good=)

  • Dude you might be better than Simmons himself, but remember hes not a bass player, hes a showman

  • I been fortune to play a Gibson Grabber once, dunno if the Ripper/grabber is the same?

sweet playing, this lines is so good on bass

  • The Grabber has a different head stock, and it doesn't have the four position tone switch that the Ripper has... the tone switch controls the phasing of the pickups. Other than that, I think they're very similar basses.

  • nice. I own one of these bass's, they're not all they're cracked up to be...but they are still awesome

    :D

  • the bass is expensive?? how much?

  • its a gibson ripper. it was only made in the late 70's/early 80's,they are still sold on like ebay though for a bunch of different prices. id say you could get one for about 500-1500 dollars.

  • damn! thats a lot of money

  • yeah.but its to be expected, gibsons are and always were expensive so one could only imagine how much a model thats not even made anymore would cost.and it sucks you cant get one UNused, you've gotta buy it from a person,or a pawnshop if your lucky...

  • YOU should re shoot this dressed up as Gene Simmons

  • a little out of tune but very good:)
