Haha when I first turned this on I was kind of weirded out by the song choice. But oh my god after a few seconds I realized there is no song on earth that fits Gurren Lagann better then this!!! It's almost as if it were written for this show!! And I love the ending so much. I an a huge AMV fan and I have seen so many over time, but I think this is the best and most fitting! Taste in anime varies from person to person. The animation, especially the fight scenes, is supurb; the characters are memorable & visibly develop over the course of the story (which is gripping); the score is in my top ten favorite anime OSTs; & it deals with some thought-provoking themes.

On the other hand it can get kind of ridiculous, but in an epically awesome way. If you're a person who nitpicks plots then this may turn you off. Otherwise the answer is 'fighting spirit!'

Maybe you kids didn't understand the real reason why Kamina died. During his death, Simon was unable to pilot the Lagann. That is despair.

When the anti-spirals came, their primary objective was to impose despair upon the spiral species so that they would all become incapable of moving forward. Despair was the true antagonist of this story: not Lord Genome, not Rossiu, and not the anti-spirals because no physical phenomena could have stopped him now.
