  • im trying to find a song called the k k k song by jerry reed. it was done live. where can i find it again

  • "I just love your bouncers.I bounced one off the wall and the other out the window."

  • @doughesson haha member that

  • Shelby Stanga

  • Kick ass tune, very cool Reynolds vehicle.

  • I didn't know James Best was the producer of Gator. I always liked him in The Dukes of Hazzard. He was terrific as Sheriff Rosco.

  • The only way to get this song is to do like I did and find the soundtrack on a record and have it re-recorded to a CD it's a pain in the butt if you're a true Jerry Reed Hubbard fan like myself it's well worth the money time & effort!!!!

  • Reed was some kick ass singer! Not like the pussies who sing these days.

  • Bama Mckall Would kick that sombitch bieber's ass

  • I love this opening sequence.. =)

  • Jerry Reed was special. Demon guitar player, composer, the man with the man's voice ! What a rythm. He bringing thrill, joy to every one who like and still share this way of music. Thank you. What a sequence, what a start of the movie !

  • was burt filming this the same time as smokey & the bandit as he wears the same clothes in this as he does in satb

  • My first ever patrol car ride had the two federal "rollers" like these. Looks like a roadblock! Wow brings back memories.

Some great old funkadelic, backwoods, southern music from Jerry Reed. He was able to make the swamp sound ominous sounding through music.

  • I was just thinking the same thing about the Atchafalaya Basin. I live in south Louisiana too. I saw a cougar out there late one evening just before sunset while bowhunting years ago. I was WAY back in the swamp, alone, and the cougar was between me and my boat. And, it was getting dark. This coonass boy got da hell out! The deer, hoot owls, cotton mouth snakes, big ol' skeeters, huge gators, and one big cat had that part of the swamp to themselves for the night. I was a "gone pecan".

  • @Stingray8854 Good to see somebody from close to home on here. I'm from Lake Charles myself but I do have relatives in Kenner and Metairie near New Orleans. And when I go through that stretch on I-10 between Lafayette and Baton Rouge I always think I'd hate to get caught in the swamp after dark. And when one of those big cats gets mad and screams it sends a shiver down my back that's hard to describe.

  • Mr Jerry Reed Hubbard was truly a multi-talented wildman...he could act, sing and man could he pick that guitar...son! Reed was always a big favorite of mine, every since I first heard him on the radio playing When you're hot, you're hot back when I was a kid. He wore them mutton chops like no other ('cept maybe Don Williams!) and he could tear up on that guitar. If you are kinda new to Jerry, pull up a chair son and type in Alabama Wildman,Lord Mr. Ford,Semolita and Rainbow Ride. Miss ya' Jerry

  • thanks for posting ... loved this song and the movie too

  • It's not South FL. All of the boat scenes were filmed at Bank's Lake in Lakeland, Ga. And everyone lined up at the start of the movie was local law enforcement . Sheriff D.J. (Big Daddy) Connell of Cook County (Adel) Georgia used to brag to yankees brought to his office by state troopers to post bond that he was a movie star, that he had been in that Burt Reynolds movie, Gator.

  • @GSP228 It looks a lot like my neck of the woods, the Atchafalaya Swamp Basin in Louisiana between Lafayette and Baton Rouge there. But I have a friend from Savannah, GA who told me she remembers when they were filming Gator back in the early '70s in Georgia. In fact she has a cousin who was an extra. He's the deputy who gets on the radio and says, "that ain't no ordinary boat he's got there. It's got some kind of a damn rocket on it".

  • @ridgerunner721601 GSP228 is absolutely correct, this was in South Georgia.

  • @ER801 It sure is pretty country. My girlfriend is from Gastonia, NC and one of these days instead of driving on the interstate through Atlanta to get there from Louisiana I'd like to drive through Savannah, even if we have to go back west some to get to her parents' house.

  • @ER801 BEST MOVIE OPENING EVER!!! Wish I could find a set of the old "twin sonics" for my collection. I drove a patrol car for about a week with those before the stupid lightbar craze took over. Policing just ain't been the same since. I took a tour of the movie set at Banks Lake in Lakeland, Ga. as a child. The patrol cars are at Ga37 and Ga122Connector (Lat 31.035071, Lon -83.098596 on Google Earth) The right front (blue w/ white stripe) is a Berrien Co. S.O. unit. (continued)

  • Also further back in the line is an Omega Ga PD unit and several Ga Game Warden Pickups. The house where Gator leaves his daughter and drives away with Agent Greenfield used to be over on Ga31 in Lanier Co. about 3 miles from the lake. It has long since been torn down. (see Google Earth Lat 30.996852 Lon -83.089624) You can see the trees outlining where the house used to be. Some of the alley scenes were filmed in Valdosta, but I don't know where exactly.

  • Damn the revenuers.

  • It's the 1974 Annual South Florida Law Enforcement Picnic and Grand Reunion!

  • I watch this movie whenever its on TV!

  • good song thanks ! i'll be sittin' on a stump with a hammer pulled back on a pump

  • Jerry had 'Gator' belt buckles made for the crew of this movie - passed them out himself. I bought one of them from a lighting guy.

  • @madgab5 great story, great tune.

  • Gators in da swamp sheriff, go getm. Ha ha ha

  • hammer pulled back on a 12-gauge pump!

  • Does anybody have the soundtrack to this movie ?

    Thanks

  • hey obama oh bo bo ,guess what ! we're all gator come get us if you caaaaaaan

  • Rattlesnake meat 'n' home-made brew

  • that sheriff he'd soon mess around with the devil than to get hisself lost messin' round in here......

  • One of the best from Jerry Reed

  • Everythings okey-dokey in the okey fanokey!

  • Heh, it's the Okefenokee Swamp.

The song is better than the movie! lol. Although an excellent boat chase starts right where this vid ends!

  • A classic movie of the 70's!!! Thanks for sharing!!!

  • hey whats the name of the song?

  • Ballad of the Gator - Jerry Reed

  • no its "The Ballad of Gator McKlusky", or just "Gator", by Jerry Reed.

  • This is a great tune, great singing and guitar playing by the man. Too bad it's not on a Jerry Reed CD. "Rot gut whiskey"

  • @colnagodean

its on Jerry's 1976 album "Both Barrels"

  • DEFINITELY one of Jerry's best songs ever ! I love it ! Tim D. - Ohio

  • his other is east bound and down. i love this song.

  • Jerry Reed was truly a multi-talented Wildman! This was a great movie, Jerry played Bama so cool...

  • great movie. Jerry was very convincing as bad ass Bama McCall! Great theme too!!!!!!!

  • It's was all Burt Reynolds idea but they were just having fun on fight sequence.
