OMG we make it exatly the same way in Bangledesh, we call it "kheer shinni" we add jaggeri, but different type, the dark melted chocolatey brown type of date molass which makes it look darker than yours. it's amazing isn't it you live in another country yet we have so many similar or exact same dishes. keep it up. thank you.
thankyou very much. i saw this video in nagoya, japan and learnt it. It came out wonderful. I took this dish to a party full of foreigners (mainly japanese, who prefer sweet). they liked it very much. Thankyou very much
Is not ghee a major ingradient. Best tasting pongal has the flavoursome ghee all over it. The jaggery is it not made into a syrup before adding to the cooked rice? Anyway I am not expert on this. Just voicing some thoughts. I was wondering if a tablespoon of mountain honey is added in the end whether it would make it more yummy?
Hi VahChef! Happy Pongal to you too. I'm looking fwd to seeing your Karapongal recipe. I'm sure you have some secret ingredient that kicks it up a few notches.
Thanks for your uploads.

mayee1982 1 year ago
@mayee1982 cuz, in olden days processed sugar was not used. Jaggery was their sugar.

the purpose of melting the jaggery with water and making a syrup is to seperate the little stones tht are usually found in jaggery.
