I have a smaller one from Phillips replacing around 35Watts. Very nice lightbulb even when the light is a little redish. But the spectrum is way more complete then a flourescence one has.
i'm curious to see what bright produce in a large room , i mean this LED bulb are capable to light true 320 degrees environement with decent light to see everithing in the room with much bright like CFL doing already now ?
I tested over 20 different LEd bulb and all of it are only directional light spot , like a flashlight doing spot on the wall but not offer large spectrum of light to illuminate all the room like the CFL fluorescent and incandescent doing right now .
better to work at 50$ each ! vs 2$ CFL who illuminate for true all the room for 9W vs LED who are only for flashlight use because it directional 1 spot in one direction only
@slade420 The only problem is, as we found in the UK - the more we decrease our electric usage, the higher the price goes to meet the greedy projected incomes companies promise shareholders.
Why are Philips SO SLOW with introducing new technology? They made a bulb 5 years ago that looked normal but had 3 superbright UV LEDs inside. They made a coating on the inside of the bulb glow bright white.
Why can't I buy one of those? Why is technology being held back so much?
@urbex2007 That and many other new technology held back and never given a chance. I remember seeing a doughnut shaped mobile phone charger that just operated on movement with a mini ac to dc converter attached to it, it won first prize at a national UK engineering talent showcase, that was several years back. Oh well... guess we're being taught that we should manufacture these things ourselves.
@urbex2007 maybe because of the large competition from other (asian) led manufacturers in the retrofit market ? or imaybe the big companies are aiming other markets like LED streetlighting.
fuck off phillips im gonna burn whale fat for light

they need to STOP comparing it to incandescent and compare it to CFL phillips LED (as of today) can not pay for its own cost in electrical savings.

They had these bulbs on this new house, you could not tell the difference between the two. They said they were going to sell for about 25.00 each.
