There are nothing wrong with qualified professional midwives.  They are respected in most countries, why don't the US.

Nobody's stopping women from having home births. They have every right to be irresponsible idiots.

The law in question here prohibits marginally-qualified individuals from making medical decisions that--as this story exemplifies--can harm others.

There's a dead baby because of that midwife's incompetence.
