@silver5532 When your hands have to stretch like that to play in octaves they tend to flatten. But it is true that you are supposed to play with curved fingers!
This is amazing! I just wanted to note that aren't you supposed to play with curved fingers and not flat? My piano teacher told me people do both ways but its more proper to play piano with curved fingers and not flat. But you are still VERY gifted!!!
As another poster commented, you already have the technique; what is all the more impressive is your musicianship and good taste with this Etude. That is not so common. Looking forward to more Etudes! Best of luck in your studies.
Don't worry about getting lost once in a while. All the greats have done that. I remember seeing Vladimir Horowitz so mess up the first 10 seconds of Moszkowski's Étincelles, that he stopped point blank and said: "Let's do that again."
Many your age have wonderful technique. Your advantage is a natural gift of interpretation, something that's hard to teach and harder to learn.
@2308Amari if you get to know the piece it's not that hard, considering both her and myself are at ARCT (according to the Canadian Conservatory), and Valerie...
@UponTheShores By that logic, Vladimir Horowitz shouldn't have been the force that he was; his fingers were almost always flat. They still managed to find the right way to hit the keys. It's a matter of what works for the musician.

The applause was so disproportional to the magnitude of the performance. You should play for a better crowd, I know I'd give that a standing ovation.

Shame on me. I feel stupid for not putting more practice hours before stepping into college. It's so difficult to balance practicing now D:

@jacky25511 WHY should she listen to YOU when she's playing it perfectly with flat fingers, moron. Leave her alone.
Bravo Val! Perfect performance. Keep playing exactly as you are.
