  • 2:02 This is the sketchiest part of the video !! no joke....... 2:02

  • man the last thing i want is a black girl explaining me something about science

  • i would recommend 'tebow'ing before trying anything like this at home

  • old youtube yes

  • As a builder of 38 yrs I know that the blocks used are thermalite/celcon light weight low density insulation blocks. They are not made of concrete. The things can fall apart in in your hands as you pick one up. The same goes for the roof tiles they sometimes use. thin brittle baked clay breaking proves nothing apart from this, some people with believe anything. I have never seen a MA guy break a real concrete block. They have a crushing strength of about 4,000 psi (or more)

  • try to explain the ppl that break bricks with their thumbs

  • Stop trying to prove everything wrong fags

  • That's all true, you don't need any skill to have stuff broken on you like that, and anyone can break fake bricks.

That doesn't mean that that is all that's out there. My club and I, as well as probably tens of thousands of martial artists break real bricks and tiles and such. There's no magic to it, just focus and skillful application of force like a1024s correctly states.

Don't dismiss all martial arts because some dimwits think it would be cool to hoodwink people cheat at it.

  • 3:54 ON THE BAWLS!

  • ii really dont think anceint monks would go through all this effort.

  • I love your intro!

  • I like at the point when she's saying the human body has built in shock absorbing mechanisms it's the sledge going at his balls.

  • Wow, Ms. Kat explained it well. I would like to see her doing the trick too, being the one to be hit. :D

  • I have some bricks here in the road ..try it with those.........

  • idk about that last explanation about the middle brick break. Only because i've seen it done without those tricks they showed

  • not all science are true...move on

  • Look at all those dislikes. I guess when you disprove peoples stupid ignorant beliefs they get flustered like a little school girl. Will people grow up and stop believing in magic, what are we fucking 2, do we really believe horton heard a who? Do we honestly need to tell people that there is no such thing as a psychic?

GROW THE FUCK UP, harry potter is fiction not a documentary.

  • @thesparitan loving the tim minchin reference :)

  • @TheOnlineBusker Wow you caught that, I was hoping someone would but I had my doubts. Tim Minchin is the man, you must have listened to his beat poem storm more then once.

  • @thesparitan well, i can say over 100, and that's not an exaggeration :L

  • @TheOnlineBusker I probably listened to it more, that is my soundtrack to life. You have good tastes sir.

  • @thesparitan hardly a sir :L just a kid learning tim minchin on piano and singing it :L but back at you, you seem like a very interesting person

  • @TheOnlineBusker Rock on.

  • @thesparitan and you sir, and you.

  • shittiest brick breakers ever

  • I thought everyone knew this was a trick... But I have seen videos of guys who clearly take full impact to their heads. Usually it's people who have been doing iron body training to build bone density, which is also explained by science.

  • hey try me to make a brick for you :) you will definitely like it hahaha

a brick with a gravel on it hahaha and im the one who will break it on your head :D using a pneumatic hammer

  • DIM MAK!

  • So they show how to break bricks with their own set up and totally fake tests. But how does a ti chi master stand on only his index fingers, break any brick given to him/ her, or be able to resist a spear in the gut without drawing blood? It's explainable but not a hoax, not everything that can be explained is. Exept for religion, mixed messages anyone?

  • Holy shit, you guys are idiots.

  • I wonder if these guys ever heard of the man from india that can break raw stone with two fingers.

  • Lol isn't it what makes it so skillful? you know how to skillfully apply force.... that's the point of breaking bricks you nigger

  • notice how they put up the most fakest vids to debunk ;)

  • Now break some bamboo sticks with ur head..

  • these guys probably say the there isn't global warming

  • You, materialists, just can't understand it, of course you can do it this way, but not every thing is explained with science! You don't even believe in something...

  • LOL poor Derren Brown, he really thinks brick breaking is "magic"? I suggest you go to a shaolin temple my friend and then we can speak

  • WOW, I already knew they were completely full of crap but this just raises it to a whole new level. Guy doesn't follow through so person doesn't take much of the force, yet enough force went through 1 brick and the guys head to break a bottom brick, as for breaking the middle brick, I've been in a room with my martial arts master who can hold several pieces of wood in one hand, slap them, and a single board, which ever one he chooses.

  • LOL I didn't see you guys demonstrate this yourselves.

2:24 That is defiantly not a spot where force can be absorbed... trust me,,I know.

  • Of course, it could possibly be achieved with decades of training... But not with the head (Unless the person literally "Empties their mind").

  • Dammit its not magic, its just something that has to do with the mind...like how monks can lie on beds of needles. While it seemingly defies all laws of logic, you can trick your mind into believing it is possible to be done and you become so confident that the action barely hurts you.

  • @xLunatiCXz I've laid on a bed of needles and I can assure you that anyone brave enough to try can do it. When your weight is distributed over the hundreds or thousands of needles their force is attenuated as a function of the number of needles. Basic physics.

Anyone can also walk over hot coals thanks to the laws of thermodynamics (providing you keep moving!)

None of this defies any 'laws of logic'. It's just your intuition which is defied (intuituion is remarkably fallible)

  • So it's really just a very skillful application of force? Just like EVERYONE who does it says it is?

  • @a1024s

there ARE superhuman scammers out there........mostly in underprivileged communities.......

  • @a1024s what?!

  • nerds

  • I know brick breaking with fists is possible as i've seen the force of the strike be measured. And i know it is possible to have bricks broken on your body and not have injuries, but on your head? That is some retarded shit right there

  • 1:20 Test Your Strike!

  • this doesnt reveal anything about brickbreaking....

  • wtf.. brick breaking is possible... why??? cos we are strong enuogh to do so....

  • I have to strongly disagree on this one. Ive been in and around martial arts my whole life. Yes there is science involved in this, but it has nothing to do with tricking people into beleive your doing something your not. Ive witnessed this with my own eyes numerous times, and even seen injuries in attempts of it. Sure there are scammers on the internet, go to a real dojo you will find none of this going on lol.

  • shock absorbing areas in the human body = waching a dude hit another dudes balls with a sledgehammer

  • To all you so called experts out there. Put a breeze block on your head and have your friend hit it. If your neck is strong the block will break. Lay down with paving slabs on your stomach goin and legs and have your friends hit them. Try before you make stupid comments that you know nothing about. This brick breaking is low level. Take a look at a high level iron palm person Just by the size of his hand you will see that he spends hours praticing.

  • Why you guys have to tell everything?? its not fun anymore if you tell! -.-

  • the sledge hammer one. comes down to how he hit the brick. He tapped it. Had he applied force and not gone through with the swing...It would have ended different.

  • Ok..I've read none of the comments here and haven't even seen the vid. But it seems like some people that call bullshit on things are just trying to get a cookie thrown to them. ...Well tough cookie this time. Board and brick breaking HAPPENS!! I've busted my ass long enough in training gyms enough to know that it does.

However there are times that people cheat with wood. They cut the boards with the grain rather than against it. Making it too easy. ..But it can be done with the grain too.

  • There is only one fake brick which is the scam. The others r real. Get your facts right before making wrong comments. They just explained how the bricks break and never said anything about other people being fake who break bricks.

  • ive broken real breaks

    without cracking them first

  • my friend has been doing martial arts for as long as ive known him. i see him break bricks. real bricks!

  • @nyguarth What are you talking about.

  • I respect Dawkins and I like Brown, but sometimes I think they are full of shit. Martial artists condition their limbs and bodies for years before they start breaking bricks. And they are real bricks. These nerds should do better research. Martial artists have been there for centuries, they don't fuck around and don't play 'tricks', it's all tons of work and aquired, real skill

  • Sometime when people try to deburk some this stuff. They use their own material to prove their right. Not use the real material. If she claim is true then, then I ask her to do the rock smash with real uncut bricks. They are the scamer instead of people. I don't know if he hate chinese style or what. I can disprove his way of show thing to people. I don't like be trick be a tricker at all, it show his true color at best. When he say jump, people jump. When he say run, people run. Get a brain.

  • you guys are just making things as you think they are. You're not going to every stage. If you want to prove a scam, please do it but do it good!! please!

  • The man at the video looks like Kung-fu Panda!!

  • i lik how he looks like de just took a dumper in his pants an tried to hide it... sneaky one

  • Ok this is bull shit, i had my sensai break bricks with his head infront of me without no trickery bullshit.

  • @zeejenkins

I've seen a woman cut into two without no trickery bullshit.

  • probly scientology. i hope anonomous hackz u

  • If you watch closely at 3:42 you'll see that the bricks have a mark in the middle, a mark that is convieniently at the same place the brick breaks. Now, they made the original video as well, and if they were 100% shure of their science theories they would have used real bricks with no marked (cut in advance) area.

  • i grabbed onto my sack at 3:30

  • My question is, do you start believing in magic -before- getting hit in the head with a sledgehammer, or -after-?

  • So all the "Guinness World Record" is scam ???

  • @BayerMcquenzie

The point is that it's not incredible or magic, it's merely an application of regular old physics. It's people taking advantage of the brick's structures to be able to perform feats which look amazing.

IE - most people could probably pull off what is done in the video.

  • @beginning, hard head :P

  • And secondly when she says that the force is dissipated over the surface of the brick and very little force goes threw how is it at 36 seconds there is enough force that goes threw his head to break the other brick... she says there are places in the body to absorb the energy... but if that is so isnt that how she should of explained it in the first place and left out all the rest cause it isnt even relevant

  • @SuperDaredevil777

The skull is one of the strongest structures in the body. It's spherical shape gives it a lot of compressive strength. It's shape also allows the force to dissipate, then focus on the other side of the skull.

I mean... the people in the video were actors who were set up by Derren and Kat, they knew exactly how it worked too.

  • LOL so if it is so simple can we put a brick on her head and do it lol

  • @Brandontrann what he's saying is that all the qi gong and tai chi and what not won't make you do this.

  • @Brandontrann dam right

  • i've yet to meet a person who thinks brick breaking is paranormal! ha ha!

  • explain then a man punching through bricks of boards or slicing the top off a bottle with the side of his hand , all done , not with trickery in mind but infront of his peers and instrutiors, are you saying its all fake??????

  • ya umm i hate to burst the science bitches bubble but 4:23 1:18 notice the difference in 4:23 they put one in the middle which made the middle brick easier to break dont get me wrong i love science but not everything is explained by science and i hate it when people try to explain somthing with science that is not science

  • @RogueAkuma

Hate to burst your "oh I'm so smart I figured it out" bubble, but they put a stick in the middle for the real one too, as you can see on 4:35 ..

  • @Bump2310 yo those arnt the same people on 4:35 might look it but if it was fake they wouldnt have told anyone and if you wanna argue and say they are the same 4:46 and 1:18 notice the difference they are 2 different videos they just got someone else to do the second one to point out the trick and ALSO you dont need to be an ass i did not say i was smart and there was nothing to figure out im just pointing out that science freaks are a pain in the ass cause they think everything can be explained

  • This nigger pisses me off

  • @sod16 Yet every night, before you sleep, you lie in bed thinking of her, wanting her, imagining her cries of pleasure at your touch -- but as your bring yourself to another lonely climax, you realise the truth, that you're a sad, limp-dicked loser, and you'll always be alone.

    Hey, ho.

  • @MrAdaLovelace Oh ohh i'm sooo offended!! Miss! He said my booboo is lonely!!:(. The statement you just made is incorrect. Therefore I will diagnose you with possible mental retardation.

  • Mind over body. You might want to see Shaolin Monks training. They drive they're limbs and body into objects so many times brick feels like paper. If they take the cheaters way out, they are of weak mind and body.

  • some martial arts does use the cheaters way out but if these people had anyone on their staff who didnt get their belt from a fast-belt school they would already know brick breaking isnt "mystical" or "magic" its a demonstration of your ability to fully control your body, its strength, aim, angle, and discipline....my school uses hardwood we picked up from meeks and cinderblocks so screw this show XD all their episodes seem to be bogus so far

  • Brick breaking is no big deal. I'm 14 and I can almost break a brick with a kick

  • Kat, tweet me! I'd love to hear more from you!

  • I'm a martial artist and you are full of shit !!!!

  • @romeo74820 If you make a claim like this, then you're not a martial artist, at least not of the brick-breaking kind. What you think people do, exercise their skulls so they can break bricks on them? I've seen this done on stage with a volunteer from the audience - it takes no "skills" whatsoever.

  • anyone else notice that they always use the same "views" of the video? around 902K

  • So, apart from only the middle brick breaking, it's not REALLY a scam. Unless of course people do claim it is done through mystical powers...

  • When we were training, one of our tests was to take a brick (a concrete slab, about 2 in thick), place it on our head (towel was optional), and our instructor (HUGE guy) broke them with a sledge hammer as we held the brick in place. It was more a test of courage and mental focus I think, but it didn't hurt. There was a cold sounding "Clank" and the weight on my head got lighter as it broke. Then the top of my head felt cold lol.

  • i think he should reduce his weight first....that belly is getting in this way !

  • @bhaar87 I've only punched that belly a few times but it was rock hard. I don't think he's too bothered about the size of it. :-)

  • um, in no way am i defending her but there is no reason to mention her race if you're not trying to be racist, it's only 2 people on these vids "a guy" and "a girl"... dont get me wrong, i dont like her either because she is very smug about her beliefs as if science is the one and only method of the world.

  • @gr8ness888 Next time you get in an airplane, try telling me that it's the supernatural keeping you up there and not science :)

  • @rothordegilian Funny thing is when people land I've heard them thank god.. lol

  • @mabans I think I've flown with that airline :p

  • @rothordegilian I don't recall saying science doesn't exist, I simply said its not the only method... perhaps I should have capitalized "ONLY"... For anyone who's actually "TRIED" TK, chi exercises, even the psi wheel I respect for at least trying... and to all the science nazis, where would the world be if your precious scientists of the past didn't think outside the box? It's easy to make claims towards evolution but "somehow its impossible for someones brain to evolve to supernatural levels?"

  • @gr8ness888 'science nazis'? I invoke Godwin's Law and retire to the smoking lounge, a fat Cuban cigar in one hand.

  • so most of it isn't a scam? why is it on science of SCAMS

  • everything is magic even the laws of science it is ok not to be afraid of the word magic.

  • Very good. Shows the tricks used in feats of this type by martial artists.

  • break his dick

  • now this video is shit. lets see this britsh fuck tell a shaolin monk they they are tricking ppl when they break bricks. just cuz they show how some ppl can fake it doesnt mean every brick breaker is fake. they should clarify that its how a specific video was faked not everything.

  • @wheelsndealz Shaolin Monks are fake. Grow up and do some research on the myth that is Shaolin Temple.

  • @wheelsndealz Stop being such an ignoramus. Why should they specify anything? You have the ability to infer, don't you? Also, they never said this is how every single brick breaking is performed. For all you know, it is specific to this video only. Grow up you tool.

  • @wheelsndealz This doesn't mean that shaolin monks are any less impressive with their human ability, thing is most people don't understand how amazing the human body and what it truly capable of. We for the most part never try or even truly believe we are capable of doing such acts so it's easier to just chalk it up to super natural ability. Ask any of those monks to just try and break those breaks from off center or out edges. You'll see drasticly different results...

  • there isnt even a wedge !!!! stupid science fukin black australian no racist

  • i really dont like that black ladie she ruins every thing!

i know she's just doing her job but god!

  • brick braking is real, but not by these 2 fools. you want the real thing you gotta go to china's shaolin temple.

  • @SierraHawkProduction Ha ha you are funny!! Shaolin Temple is kung fu epcot.

  • How do you explain Narve Laeret breaking world Record?

  • impressive

  • 3:31 BOOM NUTSHOT>

  • Comment removed

  • why was this on bestofyoutube

  • FRICTION!

  • So what? I can hit all of those at full force and not break a single one! After that I can even use them as building materials for.. you know.. houses and shit.

  • Nice demo, too bad you had to cheat on the breaking of the bricks. Try it again with real bricks and without the lifts (leverage advantage)

  • for god sake these guys dont even look like martial artists xD

  • @jokersbitch What do Martial artists look like?

  • That isn't the kind of brick breaking skill is needed my 6 year old brother figured this breaking out try breaking an extra thick brick by punching it that's training to use strength and withstand any pain

  • why you don t reveal how the shaolin monks break their bricks that s because they realy brake bricks!!!!

  • i can break it with my balls of steal

  • You ever herd of the Shaolin Monk, who break real brick over their head? i know these monks won't set out to fool people. they train their body like crazy. 365 days a years. 8 hours a day. How dare u insult real kung fu like that.

  • @MrDatDin Yup its a digrace and DB aught to be ashamed!

  • So everyone who does a demo breaking bricks is using brittle, fragile bricks? Or plaster of paris bricks? I don't get it.

They should do these with videos they haven't set up themselves.

Also, i LOVE the fact she says "science trickery". A belief system is self perpetuating and will act ruthlessly to uphold itself, even resorting to trickery to convince itself that things are the way that it says it is.

  • @acrobaticaromatic If you pause the vid at 4:51, you CAN actually see the extra peg at the rear of the breaking brick.

  • @acrobaticaromatic what he's saying is that brick breaking is not something you can only do by learning martial arts and doing "special" training

  • @acrobaticaromatic Yes, everyone who does a demo is using brittle, fragile bricks.

Belief system? WTF are you talking about?

  • Lets see if you can do that bitch!!!!!! haha

  • it's funny to read the comments of people who will just not accept that whatever seemingly paranormal hoax they've been in awe of is just that.. a hoax

  • i watched more of these vids they are searching for fake vids to let see and the other vids are real but they pick a fake one to make money

  • He flinched when he was swinging the sledge at his penis area.

    Not that I blame him.

  • All martial arts are based on scientific principles. The rest of it is where gullible people lose their way.

  • A useful way to make money in feudal china.

  • lol

  • the music is ace

  • but these are tricks....genuine and really good martial artists don't do this.

  • but these are tricks. Real good martial artists do none of this, they really break stuff, and the bricks are not at all brittle!

  • Looks like it got him in the balls at 3:31

  • Everybody has got his own thuth.

  • Ik so I've checked out the 6 vids and I'm unimpressed to say the least. As they explained in this vid the middle brick breaking was done by trickery... as someone who used to do karate myself I've seen people do this from all angles i the flesh... interesting how there was no fake block or wedge.

Also on the psi wheel vid, there are several videos made of people spinning the wheel under a glass bowl where convection currents don't have an effect, SCIENCE OF SCAMS REVEALED!!

  • @leetheshredder I agree! You can make someone look like they've been shot - that's called special effects. Or you can really shoot someone - that's called murder (or war, depending on the context). Just because you can recreate something real using tricks doesn't invalidate the original claim. When will skeptics learn this? Never, as long as there's an audience cheering on the "debunking".

  • @MagykZan you know, I usually LOVE to put examples to prove a point and this is by far the most awesome example for this shitty "science of scams" show :D

Seriously, you can easily PROVE how a video is fake, if you make the video yourself fake lol :P

that's what is wrong about this show, they make something themselves and prove it fake.... :/

  • @leetheshredder Unless there's ventilation you can't see in the warm glass. Can you see the heat of the glass in the video? It's probably best to assume it's mundane than magical.

  • THIS IS SO LAME!

  • Haha i saw this guy doing the chi thing.

  • 3:55 absorbing area his dick wtf !=#"!#"=!"#

  • In ancient times kickboxing masters were able to kick a banana tree for over 1000 times a day on each foot. Some people train to the extremes. These scam videos are mostly a scam in itself. The ouija board one made me laugh the hardest.

  • I don't think that the last one is a scam since most martial arts performers don't claim to have mysterious or supernatural powers. It takes practice (although real world results can be different when it comes to breaking bricks).

  • I understand how the last one is a scam, but I wouldnt say the first ones are... They dont claim to be supernatural, they just show a cool trick. So what?

  • you see all these videos of guys breaking 12+ bricks stacked, but not one of these people can break an ordinary 2 by 4.

  • OK this videos is really annoying me! there are some tricks of doing these brick breaking performances, but the ones demonstrated by real marshal-artists like shaolin monks are done whitout these little tricks of yours! They have practiced many years to do they'r performances like brick breaking. And when they do it they brake all of the bricks not just the middle ones so your little trick won't work. SO PLEASE STOP ACTING LIKE U CAN EXPLAIN EVERYTHING WHIT SCIENCE!

  • He didn't say anything about breaking multiple bricks... It's possible if someone is strong enough, and willing to put enough force into it. Were you even listening to what was said? XD, They didn't say it was impossible to break bricks with your hands alone. Not once. >.>

  • please dont take this on science since the people who make these videos did not create science and are not the rightful owners of science.

Shaolin monks may indeed do this without tricks but that doesnt mean science cannot explain it. Science not only explains scams, it also explains the truth. Just because its not done yet doesnt mean it cant be done in the future. The purpose of science is to explain the truth and paranormal stuff are just harder to exlpain than whats normal

  • I have to thank u from ur correction for my comment. Ur absolutely right. What I meant was if it is not possible for u to explain it then don't try to explain it whit cheap tricks. If someone can give me a good explanation then I will believe in it. It's not impossible to explain it whit science. Actually I like science and I'm doing well at is in school to so ty again for ur correction. XD :D

  • Wee might fly some day !!!! wohooo

  • "STOP ACTING LIKE U CAN EXPLAIN EVERYTHING WHIT SCIENCE! "

Tell me a better way for explaining things then.

  • Might I add that the people in this video did not claim that the martial arts are scams? Breaking the bricks with or on someone's body is entirely possible, breaking only the middle brick in a stack of three is where the trickery lies.

  • This program was designed to get young people intrested in science. hence they came up with some scams to get them intrested. They clearly so you the only scam is the 3 bricks and breaking the one in the middle. The other brickbreaking is real. not to the level of theiron [plam masters. But then no one said they were. What they have done is to explain the pinciple behind the breaking.

  • "Proving" that aspects of martial arts are a "scam"? I doubt that people seriously trained for years in martial arts are out scamming everyone with their movements and brick-breaking. Martial arts CAN be explained by science and the mind body connection; but to sit and act as if it a purposeful scam? A set up? Martial arts masters and practitioners would probably have something to say about that.

  • Actually the Nation Geographic channel proved that putting a wedge between bricks does not make them easier to break but harder , because it is an interruption of the force being brought down. So a domino effect DOES NOT happen when using a spacer.

  • @Baterine but it's giving it a point where the force can actually travel through compared to it traveling through the air which will pretty much do nothing.

  • Anyone who has ever hit a board or brick wring knows that not only do they hit back but they bite back as well lol Sorry Bruce.

  • hahahah fat pot-bellied mornons, nice stance...
