In windows 7, Run cmd as administrator, type the letter for your USB/Pen Drive (e.g. F: E:) and type "autorun.inf" and press enter, then type "del autorun.inf" and its finished!

i have a better idea...try with a software to patch your USB drives...what did it does?...it just create a folder inside the drive with the name autorun.inf without read or write rights, so, when some virus try to copy itself on your flash drive, it just cannot, because it can't modificate the folder...simple as that...

Your method is correct but autorun viruses often come with another .exe of .pif files which the autorun runs

you wont be able to see it, to see those files goto command prompt (start > run >cmd) goto the drive u want to check by typing X:

X here represents your infected drive

then type attrib to see the attributes of all the files there

you will see a file with extensions .pif or .exe with a weird name lije gtgaa.exe etc.

you have to delete that too

Hope it helps, its a very complete guide, if you have issues on usb flash memories or any other MS device just change the drive unit in your command prompt by typing the drive unit and pressing the enter key i.e H: and hit enter.

i'm using eset nod32, it keeps deleting it, but it keeps showing on and on, even tough i used this method (when i try to delete it says can't find), i tried using explorer, didn't show up (even after disabling hidden system files), tried deleting syistem restore and empting rb, nothin...the good part, may i say, is that it wasn't detected anything on the local drives, but i may suspect, oh, and no funny writing, only infecting any usb memory stick or card :(( what should i do?

that's a lie an autorun is a good file, u can create it but if it's is infected u have to use ur antivirus otherway even if u r deleting it, it'll appear again, use an antivitus

1) run msconfig and disable a file named vistaupgrade.exe

2) restart and enter windoes thru safe mode

3) then follow this steps and delete vistaupgrade.exe from \windows\system32 using attrib -s -h -r too

My Nod32 keeps on "detecting and deleting" the autorun.inf. The bad thing is that i don't think the autorun.inf is going anywhere since the Nod32 Notice comes out almost every minute saying that it has "detected and deleted" the autorun.inf (O_O)

While I don't have an alternate way to delete AUTORUN.INF from a computer, the following method cleans up my pen drives quite nicely:

1. Insert in a G3 or G4 Mac.

2. Look up AUTORUN.INF in the pen drive, then use the GET INFO feature to reveal its "locked" state. Unclick the lock.

3. Send AUTORUN.INF to the trash, then, while you press the OPTION key, empty the trash.

4. If you find a RECYCLER file, repeat steps 2 and 3.

This does not prevent reinfection but cleans my pen drives.

I want to add in to this video. Another way which I can locate and remove the autorun.inf from pendrive is to right click explore the drive and go to Folder Options > View > Choose show hidden files and folders > Uncheck hide protecting operating system files. Locate the autorun.inf and remove it from there.

Usually access denied are attributed by non-administrative rights. What I suggested could be a resolution to it (using admin accnt to do it). If it doesnt work, then it would be another thing all together.
