we want the weapons for ourselves. they dont attack us because they are insect based and they are just drones it's their nature not to attack something their queen doesn't tell them to.

The movie could only present so much explanation for what is otherwise a re-write of the past few decades. So there were some glaring "plot-holes" or just elements of it that weren't well explained (or at all).

The thing I questioned the most tho was why there was seemingly no international effort to court some sort of diplomacy with a race that was vastly more intelligent than us...
