again here b voice has improved. but whitney was born with her VOICE so she stand out much better with power. b has a lot of studio help. whitney has pure sole and raw talent they did not use studio enhancements like they do today. I think in a live vocals battle, Beyonce puts up a good fight, definitely. But even as a fan, 99% of her work in-studio leaves me underwhelmed. The second G#5 is the only chest note where she clearly wins, most of the previous ones going to Whit ofcourse. I think Beyonce has some of the best low notes in the industry, especially that C#3, and she might win in most of the shown headnotes. Whitney's still the Greatest, but good job in showing that there IS a comparison.
I am a huge beyonce fan, and she is a underestimated vocalist. But no matter how amazing beyonce is, whitney had a voice that was just out of this world! Both are amazing. Nice video though.

They've both got just freakin' amazing technique.
Having said that, Whitney's actual tone is much stronger than Beyonce's from a tonal point of view. A lot of Beyonce's strength is actually her projecting her voice, rather than it being strong to begin with. Whitney whispers and it's damn strong.

Hmm. Beyoncé's lower chest is clearer and better than Whitney's (most of Whitney's lower chest notes here are from later in her career when her voice had suffered damage), and she has more range than Whitney, high and low. Bey also has better technique, so she'll have her voice longer.
However, Whitney is just WHITNEY! LOL. The tone of her voice and her power is unmatched and may never be matched. There's something to her that's beyond technical explanation.

Beyonce's voice lends itself well to certain kinds of music, but when she steps outside of those genres, it just sounds weird like there is too much "pop" in her voice (i.e when she sings "At Last."Christina sings it better). Whitney, on the other hand, can sing anything. This isn't even a competition.
@blktrekie29 Her "At Last" vocal performance was fine. However, since she sung to the original arrangement, those accustomed to hearing the rasp in Etta's voice are thrown off by Beyoncé's honey-smooth timbre. She has probably the most versatile voice in the industry, though.
As a side note, Christina oversings "At Last" every time she performs it and shouldn't even be regarded.
@iantuition Etta has a soulful voice, and so does Christina, which is why I prefer her version over Beyonce's. That "honey-smooth timbre" doesn't mesh well with that arrangement to me. I think she sounds better singing opera than soul music.

I think in a live vocals battle, Beyonce puts up a good fight, definitely. But even as a fan, 99% of her work in-studio leaves me underwhelmed. The second G#5 is the only chest note where she clearly wins, most of the previous ones going to Whit ofcourse. I think Beyonce has some of the best low notes in the industry, especially that C#3, and she might win in most of the shown headnotes. Whitney's still the Greatest, but good job in showing that there IS a comparison.

Whitney has not displayed the fioritura that true coloratura have, neither has she sang an aria for a coloratura soprano.

Hmm. Beyoncé's lower chest is clearer and better than Whitney's (most of Whitney's lower chest notes here are from later in her career when her voice had suffered damage), and she has more range than Whitney, high and low. Bey also has better technique, so she'll have her voice longer.
However, Whitney is just WHITNEY! LOL. The tone of her voice and her power is unmatched and may never be matched. There's something to her that's beyond technical explanation.

Beyonce's voice lends itself well to certain kinds of music, but when she steps outside of those genres, it just sounds weird like there is too much "pop" in her voice (i.e when she sings "At Last."Christina sings it better). Whitney, on the other hand, can sing anything. This isn't even a competition.

As a side note, Christina oversings "At Last" every time she performs it and shouldn't even be regarded.

Her voice lost all durability(By the end of her concert she's completely breathless) and Beyonce can do a better 90's Whitney than Whitney can. Honestly, I prefer Whit to Beyonce(They're my 2 favorite vocalists) but I cannot deny the facts. Whitney is a lot better than she gets credit for though

don't get me wrong. i am not trash talking beyonce, or what some would call ''hating''. i think she is talented. she knows how to work the media and her commercial success is unmatched, but that is not what defines a true artist. whitney is defined as an artist, a legend, an icon, a diva (back when all these had meaning). her gifts don't come from a simple ''when i grow up'' dream, but a gift from god. that is what seperates her from the rest.
